[00:00:39] Speaker A: Hello. Hello. [00:00:40] Speaker B: Welcome to the Cracked Die podcast. Your host and GM, Sean, and I want to reiterate what Haya said last week and that happy pride to everyone. We hope you are enjoying and celebrating safely with everything that is going on in the world. That being said, we know things have been changing around the world very quickly, and we hope that our show can provide some sort of respite from all of the chaos out there. Now, that being said, we're about to enter into something where I, as the GM, may have overestimated my player's abilities and not how they play, but from a pure mathematical standpoint. But I'm saying too much. Let's jump into this episode. [00:01:32] Speaker A: Welcome to the 40th episode of the Crack Die podcast. [00:01:37] Speaker C: Have a midlife crisis. [00:01:39] Speaker D: I was just thinking that, Christine. [00:01:42] Speaker A: Oh, my God. [00:01:43] Speaker D: My head. [00:01:44] Speaker A: I'm already there. [00:01:45] Speaker E: My midlife crisis is going to happen at the age 100. [00:01:48] Speaker A: Oh, I like that. [00:01:50] Speaker C: And we're casually admitting he's immortal. [00:01:53] Speaker E: No, I have a 200 year lifespan. That's not immortal. [00:01:57] Speaker A: I had my midlife crisis at 19. Take that for what you will. That sounds a little late. Yes, I have the lifespan of a. [00:02:05] Speaker F: Nat is what I was dead. Okay. [00:02:09] Speaker A: Teensy fly, or whatever they're called. [00:02:11] Speaker F: So 40 spaces is the number of spaces on a monopoly board. In case anyone's wondering. [00:02:15] Speaker A: I've been playing monopoly on my phone since this whole thing has started, and I realized how wrong I grew up playing that game is. [00:02:24] Speaker F: Everybody uses money in a pool for free parking, and you get, like. That's not part of the rule. Well, also, what else you did, you can't put eight hotels on something. [00:02:32] Speaker A: Well, also, if you decide not to buy a property, it goes into auction. Yeah. [00:02:38] Speaker F: And anyone can get it for, like, a dollar. [00:02:40] Speaker A: Yeah. Which is kind of cool. That would speed up monopoly quite a bit. [00:02:45] Speaker F: I find that it takes forever and then ruins your friendships. [00:02:48] Speaker A: That's risk. Risk and Catan. Catan ruins. [00:02:54] Speaker D: Know. The only time I've played Catan was at my first Thanksgiving with Matt's family. Oh, my God. [00:03:05] Speaker C: It was very interesting with Sean's two best friends. One year at Gencon, the four of us sat, played a single round, and then all agreed to stop. [00:03:15] Speaker F: Wow. [00:03:15] Speaker A: Yeah, it got really cutthroat in the first round, and we all looked at each other and went, we want to stay friends after this. Let's stop. [00:03:22] Speaker F: So, in more relevant news, the word quarantine actually comes from the Italian for 40, which is Coranta, because in the middle ages, ships would be isolated and harbor for 40 days before they could go ashore during the bubonic plague. [00:03:38] Speaker A: Interesting. Look at that. Tying into current event. [00:03:41] Speaker F: Previously on the Cracked Die podcast. [00:03:44] Speaker G: All heroes spoke about their new powers from their level up. Then they were gifted items that were unique to them for their help with the town. We heard Temod's strange dream. After that, all heroes head off into the forest in search of the elephant people. After an uneventful day, our heroes bedded down for the night when pawn Watcher noticed an amber goo starting to drip. What is that goo? Find out now on the cracked Die podcast. [00:04:16] Speaker A: And we're just going to jump into initiative right now. That's what's happening. [00:04:19] Speaker D: Oh, boy. [00:04:20] Speaker H: Yay. [00:04:22] Speaker E: That's an exciting way to start off the episode. [00:04:24] Speaker A: Right? [00:04:27] Speaker D: Oh, hello. [00:04:28] Speaker A: Unless it's an elvin and then he sounds normal. [00:04:30] Speaker F: I think normal is a very racist. [00:04:32] Speaker A: Way of putting that. [00:04:33] Speaker H: Oh, boy. [00:04:37] Speaker A: Let's get initiative. [00:04:39] Speaker C: Oh, no, mine is terrible. [00:04:41] Speaker A: Let's all roll initiative so we can figure out how this is going to go. Let's start with Brianna. What did you get? 25 twin Talon. [00:04:51] Speaker F: Twin Talon. [00:04:52] Speaker A: Got an 1818. Then I got that. Sareia. I got a nine. Great. You go first in the second round. [00:05:01] Speaker C: I'm sure I do. [00:05:02] Speaker A: Aaron, what did silver get? 1919 Pond Watcher. [00:05:08] Speaker F: Twelve. [00:05:08] Speaker A: All right. And Tamid, I got a 22. That's great. It's unfortunate that you're asleep. Screw you. [00:05:16] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm guessing Brandon is also just. She was taking her watch previously. [00:05:23] Speaker A: Or. Wait, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. I'm trying to remember. [00:05:28] Speaker D: Wasn't it that she just woke up pond Watcher and she went for a bath? [00:05:32] Speaker A: Yes. So that means you don't have armor on. [00:05:35] Speaker F: Well, anybody sleeping doesn't have armor on. [00:05:36] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. [00:05:37] Speaker F: Unless it's got the comfortable quality. I think there's like a specific armor quality. [00:05:42] Speaker E: I think we all had to take a bathroom break at the same time. And we did so in fully clad armor. [00:05:50] Speaker D: Rusty armor. [00:05:51] Speaker A: Brianna, you are actually not even on the map right now because you are off bathing. So I'm just going to say you're going to hold for now because there's been no noise. [00:06:00] Speaker D: Right? He hasn't made any. Hey, there's a SAP thing, right? I'm trying to remember. [00:06:05] Speaker H: Can you give us a description of this thing again? [00:06:07] Speaker A: Sure, absolutely. I would love to. A golden SAP is leaking from the tree and it looks like it's starting to ooze towards you. Once you poked, it kind of gives you an octopus looking feel to it. It is more amber like honey. Seeping out of the tree. [00:06:33] Speaker H: Yeah, it's a mead tree. [00:06:35] Speaker A: I've heard of it. [00:06:37] Speaker F: Is the picture you have on the maps at the actual pond? [00:06:40] Speaker A: Yes. Cool. [00:06:41] Speaker E: From my perspective, it looks like fire leading up against a tree, like really casually. [00:06:47] Speaker A: Yeah, it's just kind of like chilling, casual fire. Cash. [00:06:51] Speaker D: Super cash cash fire. [00:06:53] Speaker A: I'm going to have everyone delay. The creature in front of pond Watcher begins to slither forward for its first action. [00:07:03] Speaker H: Are you coming to give me some delicious syrup? [00:07:06] Speaker A: Its second action, it's going to attempt to hit you with a pseudopod. [00:07:13] Speaker H: Don't do that, please. [00:07:15] Speaker F: It's not a real pod, it's pseudopod. [00:07:17] Speaker A: So it's just like a giant 35? [00:07:21] Speaker H: Yeah, that hits, just barely. [00:07:23] Speaker A: Pseudopod swings out and hits you. You take eleven damage. [00:07:29] Speaker H: Ouch. [00:07:29] Speaker A: And then I need you to make a fortitude save, please. [00:07:35] Speaker H: 23. [00:07:36] Speaker A: You feel some of the SAP slick off of it and get around your feet, but you manage to move out of the way before becoming slowed. [00:07:44] Speaker D: Oh, no. [00:07:46] Speaker A: And it's going to take one more attack at you. 22. Bad hitch cakes, take another 13 damage. Give me another fortitude save. [00:07:59] Speaker H: 25. [00:07:59] Speaker A: Once again, you feel this ooey gooey stickiness coming around your feet. However you manage to get out of the way. [00:08:08] Speaker H: That's not the first time I've had ooey gooey stickiness on myself. [00:08:13] Speaker A: Pond Watcher is your turn. [00:08:15] Speaker H: Pond Watcher yells very loudly help, everyone. We are being infiltrated by ooze creature monsters. [00:08:20] Speaker A: That's a free action, yeah. [00:08:22] Speaker H: Oh, okay, great. And then he's just going to give. [00:08:25] Speaker A: It a little poke. [00:08:26] Speaker H: Give it a bigger poke than last time. [00:08:27] Speaker A: Okay. [00:08:28] Speaker H: 32. [00:08:29] Speaker D: Nice. [00:08:29] Speaker A: 32 will prick the creature. [00:08:34] Speaker E: Nice. [00:08:35] Speaker A: However, it is immune to critical hits. [00:08:41] Speaker H: Come on. [00:08:41] Speaker F: It's an ooze. Oozes don't have any body parts to hit. Agreed. [00:08:46] Speaker H: Well, it did do 17 piercing. [00:08:48] Speaker A: 17 piercing. That is effective. It likes being poked, I think. [00:08:54] Speaker H: Come on, get up. He pokes again. [00:08:57] Speaker A: All right. [00:08:58] Speaker H: 31. Another crit, unfortunately, 13 piercing damage. [00:09:04] Speaker C: Why are you mocking? [00:09:05] Speaker A: Why am I mocking? It's part of my job. And you have one more action if you want to take it. [00:09:10] Speaker H: Yeah, I mean, I'm going to back away. [00:09:13] Speaker A: Okay. [00:09:14] Speaker H: And continue reiterating, please get up. [00:09:16] Speaker A: Wake up, you spooky head. Brienna, you hear pond watcher yelling. [00:09:20] Speaker D: She may be out of her armor, but she definitely keeps her scimitar close so she will turn wonk and I will move to pond Watcher. What is it? That's my first action. [00:09:36] Speaker F: On the bright side, you're not slowed down by your armor? [00:09:38] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:09:39] Speaker F: Full 25. [00:09:40] Speaker D: Oh, sweet. That's the only bright side. [00:09:43] Speaker F: That's 25. [00:09:44] Speaker A: Three. [00:09:45] Speaker D: Right. So that's my first action. I guess I see it there. Or I guess pawn watcher. [00:09:50] Speaker A: You. Do you see this amber thing schlorping towards you? [00:09:55] Speaker D: Zoraya, this looks more like your chick, but here we go. That's my second action and my third. I will swing 16. Will hit for twelve damage. [00:10:10] Speaker A: All right. [00:10:10] Speaker H: Was that a natural one? [00:10:12] Speaker A: Oh, it is a natural one. [00:10:14] Speaker D: Oh, it is a natural one. [00:10:15] Speaker A: So you do miss. Oh, jeez. [00:10:17] Speaker D: Rip, should I pull from the fumble? [00:10:20] Speaker A: Yes, you should. Please. [00:10:21] Speaker D: Okie dokie. Drawing one. I fall prone. It's called slip. So I guess I run forward, I'm still wet from the bath, and I slip and fall. [00:10:34] Speaker A: And you go prone. [00:10:36] Speaker H: Slip on your towel. [00:10:37] Speaker D: Right. It slips off. Oh, no. [00:10:41] Speaker H: Oh, boy. [00:10:43] Speaker D: Not time for that. Don't look at me. [00:10:46] Speaker A: All right, next, temid. You hear screaming and you hear as Brianna falls. [00:10:52] Speaker E: All right, without much time to react, he just runs towards strikes as well. [00:10:58] Speaker F: Well, I mean, it's one action to pick up your stuff. One action to stand up, one action to move. [00:11:04] Speaker E: Okay, so he just runs over there with his stuff. [00:11:06] Speaker A: All right. [00:11:08] Speaker E: No, I mean, like, he picks up his weapon and then he runs over there. He gets up, picks up his weapon and runs over there. [00:11:14] Speaker A: Great. All right, remember, you don't have armor on. [00:11:17] Speaker E: Yeah, I'm well aware of that. [00:11:19] Speaker A: Okay, Silver, you hear screaming. [00:11:21] Speaker I: So Silver's gonna wake up, and then the first thing, he sees Brianna, presumably naked, dripped out of the bath on the ground. [00:11:28] Speaker A: Well, to be fair, I think it's well established that silver sleeps in the nude. [00:11:34] Speaker D: So seeing Brianna, the nude's okay? [00:11:36] Speaker A: No, I'm just saying, at least you're not the only one. [00:11:39] Speaker D: Oh, fair. [00:11:40] Speaker I: Well, he's going to glance over at pond Watcher and look at Brianna. And, y'all, I don't know if this is the time for you to do any consummating right now. I think there's an ooze over there. [00:11:55] Speaker D: Yes, that's crazy. Clearly what I was going to do. [00:11:59] Speaker I: I'm going to try to get embarrassed. [00:12:01] Speaker A: Knowledge on. Okay, please give me a knowledge. Nature 15. You know that this is called a living SAP, and it is indeed an ooze subspecies. And I will let you ask me one other question. [00:12:22] Speaker I: I have to ask what Silver would ask and not what I would ask. But is it worth anything? Because it's fast. [00:12:30] Speaker A: No, it is not. [00:12:33] Speaker F: Feel free to kill it. [00:12:34] Speaker I: It ain't worth nothing for us. It's news. And let me check my spells. Real. Actually, I'm going to cast a healing spell on pond watcher. [00:12:44] Speaker A: Okay. How many actions is the spell? [00:12:47] Speaker I: Two actions. It's a two action spell. [00:12:49] Speaker A: Standing up knowledge. So you only have one action left. Unfortunately, I never said I stood up. He rolls over, hit the news, rolls back to sleep. [00:13:01] Speaker D: I need my full hours, guys. [00:13:03] Speaker A: All right, go ahead and make your heels check. Then pond watcher heals for seven. Twin Talon. [00:13:10] Speaker F: So twin Talon is going to grab his bow. He's going to stand up, fire once at the Uzi critter. [00:13:18] Speaker A: That will hit for one damage. [00:13:22] Speaker F: Yep. Well, you know what? I actually hit, so. [00:13:25] Speaker E: That's true. [00:13:25] Speaker H: That was another crit, wasn't it? [00:13:27] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Absolutely. [00:13:28] Speaker E: I know that's the frustrating part about all this. [00:13:31] Speaker A: No, that's not the frustrating part. The frustrating part is another one start moves down 10ft and attempts to engulf Silver, who's laying on the ground. [00:13:46] Speaker D: No. [00:13:49] Speaker A: Can you give me a reflex save, please, silver. [00:13:56] Speaker I: Now, just for the rule, since I'm on the ground, how does that affect my reflex save? [00:14:01] Speaker F: So I just realized I could have taken a second. [00:14:03] Speaker A: If you want to take a second attack on the one that you saw beforehand, you can. I'll be nice. Today. You take a minus two to your role while prone. T 422 total 22 not enough. You are engulfed by this living SAP. And you take. Not terrible, not great. You take eight damage as the acid starts to dissolve you. [00:14:31] Speaker F: So in previous editions, Engulf would also have other things that it would have happen, like couldn't talk or whatever, like that. Is that the case with this? Or is it just he's taking acid damage. [00:14:44] Speaker A: A creature that fails its save is pulled into the monster's body. It is grabbed, slowed one, and has to hold its breath or start suffocating. The creature takes the listed amount of damage at the end of each of the monster's turns while it is engulfed. An engulfed creature can get free by escaping against the listed escape DC. An engulf creature can attack the monster engulfing it, but only with unarmed attacks or with weapons of light, bulk or less. The engulfing creature is flat footed against it. The monster takes piercing or slashing damage equal to or exceeding the listed rupture value from a single attack or spell. The engulfed creature cuts itself free. A creature that gets free by another method can immediately breathe and exits the swallowing monster. If the monster dies, all creatures it has engulfed are automatically released as the monster's form loses cohesion. So to summarize, Silver has to start holding his breath, which we will look up the rules on that. And then he has slowed one. So you only get two actions. You either have to do the amount of damage in a single attack equal to its rupture value using an unarmed strike, or an attack with a weapon that is light, bulk or less. [00:15:59] Speaker C: He's got five, plus his constitution modifier in rounds of how long he can hold his breath if he attacks. [00:16:06] Speaker F: Which goes down. [00:16:07] Speaker C: Yeah. If he attacks, though, he loses two rounds of error instead of just one. [00:16:12] Speaker F: And if he's critically hit, or critically fails a save, he loses an additional round of have. [00:16:17] Speaker A: Yes. [00:16:17] Speaker I: I have five rounds to go. [00:16:19] Speaker C: Oh, no. [00:16:20] Speaker D: Okay. [00:16:20] Speaker A: Yep. Well, now that all that is done, Soraya, it's your turn. [00:16:24] Speaker C: Oh, I finally get to do something. [00:16:26] Speaker A: Yay. [00:16:27] Speaker C: All right. What was it? To try and see what they are. [00:16:30] Speaker A: It is a knowledge nature. Yeah. [00:16:36] Speaker C: Okay. She's not going to waste any time on that. She is right next to Silver, though, so at the very least, she is going to. Do I do acid or do fire? [00:16:47] Speaker F: Probably not acid. [00:16:49] Speaker C: Yeah, because it's doing acid damage. [00:16:50] Speaker F: Probably. [00:16:51] Speaker C: You know what I might do? [00:16:54] Speaker D: Frost. [00:16:55] Speaker C: Let's do my frost file here. [00:16:57] Speaker F: I feel like, thematically, Frost is very good against Uzi creatures. Like to freeze them. [00:17:03] Speaker C: Right? Okay, so 31 hit. [00:17:07] Speaker A: That holds. [00:17:09] Speaker C: Best attack I've ever rolled. [00:17:11] Speaker F: It's an at 20. [00:17:12] Speaker C: There we go. It's the best attack I've ever rolled. It's ten damage. And on a hit, the target takes a status penalty to its speed until the end of its next turn. And it also does two cold splash damage. So it's two d, six plus two. So it's twelve and it takes a ten foot move penalty. All right, so I guess my action was wake up, sea silver. [00:17:34] Speaker A: Throw bomb. [00:17:35] Speaker C: Well, make bomb, throw bomb. So, yeah, that's my turn. [00:17:39] Speaker A: Your perception is plus eight, right? [00:17:42] Speaker C: Yeah. Is there another one? [00:17:44] Speaker A: When you throw the frost vial at it and it hits, it looks like you know how much damage it's supposed to do. It looks like it takes more, I guess. Right, Brianna, you're up. [00:17:57] Speaker D: So she's going to take a moment to stand up as her first action. Does that provoke? [00:18:03] Speaker A: It does, but nothing happens. [00:18:05] Speaker D: I'm going to keep swinging. Okay, that will hit for ten. [00:18:11] Speaker A: Damage. Damage. All right, next is temid. [00:18:15] Speaker E: All right. Oh, man. So the way Temid sees it, Brandon and Pond watcher are very capable of handling this on their own. Probably. Silver is probably going to die, so he's going to go and try to help Silver and so he's going to run over there. Unfortunately, it's going to take two move actions to get over to silver as it's 35ft to him and then he's going to try to hit this thing. So he rears back and he just thrusts at this thing with his plus one striking rapier. And I'm trying to find it as I delay things by talking. [00:18:47] Speaker A: I've never done that in a single recording. [00:18:50] Speaker D: Stall for time, stop for time. [00:18:52] Speaker E: So anyways, I was going to the barn. Here it is. [00:18:56] Speaker A: You hit. [00:18:57] Speaker E: Wait is for three damage, a natural one. So it's two d, six plus. But I've got emblazoned armin on here so it should be just roll the damage. [00:19:08] Speaker F: Just add one. [00:19:09] Speaker E: Yeah, I'm just going to add one. So it's not three damage, it's four damage. Sean. [00:19:14] Speaker A: Four damage. You hit it. I'm so proud of you, Anwar. Me too. The one in front of Brianna goes, oh, boy. It decides to swing a pseudopod at you. [00:19:24] Speaker D: So it's not real? [00:19:25] Speaker A: No, it's a fake pod. [00:19:27] Speaker D: Got it. [00:19:27] Speaker A: 24 will hit and I need a reflex save from you. [00:19:32] Speaker D: I will give it to you shortly. My reflex save is a twelve wolf. [00:19:42] Speaker A: Wolf. Well, you take 14 damage as the fake pod hits you and then you are slowed one. [00:19:52] Speaker D: So basically just my everyday life forever slow. [00:19:56] Speaker A: The other pseudopod swings at you for a 30. It swings its arm again. [00:20:01] Speaker D: Oh, got it. Yeah, of course it'll hit for 30. [00:20:04] Speaker A: Is that a crit? [00:20:06] Speaker D: Yeah, because I'm unarmed, unarmored. But is it named? [00:20:10] Speaker A: Oh, it is not. So you take 28 damage. [00:20:14] Speaker D: Ouch. [00:20:15] Speaker A: And I need another reflex. [00:20:16] Speaker D: I don't want to. [00:20:17] Speaker F: Oh, boy. Can they slow you a bunch of times. Like, can they get you to slow to three? [00:20:22] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. But not with that save. [00:20:26] Speaker C: That's good. [00:20:28] Speaker A: Brianna. The living SAP moves through your square and tries to engulf you. [00:20:35] Speaker D: Oh, boy. [00:20:36] Speaker F: So it attacks twice and then try to engulf her. So what happened? [00:20:39] Speaker A: Make sure it can do that. Yep. It is a single action to move through the space of any creatures in its path. So it actually moves double its speed. Let's see. Maybe I can get more than one. [00:20:52] Speaker F: Of you can engulf everyone. Like, how can it be in people's mouths? [00:20:56] Speaker A: It only gets behind ten. [00:20:58] Speaker D: Be so nice if I could liberating step myself. [00:21:01] Speaker A: Well, you might. [00:21:01] Speaker D: Sadly, I cannot. [00:21:03] Speaker F: Party of liberators. That's what we need. Everybody dies. Make a liberator and then we can all just liberate, accept each other. All day. [00:21:08] Speaker A: Give me a reflex save. Yeah, to not give you engulfed. Well, the good news is you're inside and you're right next to me. [00:21:22] Speaker F: Wait, it can with him? [00:21:24] Speaker D: I didn't think it can move. [00:21:25] Speaker A: She's inside of her. [00:21:28] Speaker D: Okay, I'm confused. I thought it couldn't move. [00:21:32] Speaker F: It feels like it could either engulf her or it could continue to go. But it's very bizarre to me that it can just automatically move people. [00:21:40] Speaker A: You're right. [00:21:40] Speaker F: Like, with no checks or anything else, it just makes a movement action and can suck up eight people. That doesn't make any sense. [00:21:46] Speaker A: The monster strides up to double its speed and can move through the space of any creature in its path. Any creature of the size or smaller. And the creature is medium, moves through it and attempts a reflex save at the list of DC to avoid being engulfed. A creature unable to act automatically fails. If a creature succeeds, it can choose to either be pushed to the side or pushed in front of the monster. The monster can attempt to engulf the same creature only once in a single use of engulf. The monster can contain as many creatures as it can fit in its face. So it can only engulf one creature at a time. A creature fails, is pulled into the monster's body. It is grabbed, slowed one, and has to hold its breath. So I guess it would stop on her square. [00:22:32] Speaker F: Well, it grabs. Typically, you have to make checks to move people. [00:22:35] Speaker A: Okay, so, yeah, we'll say it's still there, but you are now engulfed. You have the grabbed condition. [00:22:42] Speaker H: This rest is not going well. [00:22:44] Speaker F: I need a nap from this nap. [00:22:45] Speaker C: I know. [00:22:46] Speaker A: So, pond watcher, you're up. [00:22:49] Speaker H: Okay, so Pond Watcher has had a kind of crazy 30 seconds here. He was the only one awake. He saw something, he poked it, punched him in the face a bunch of times. He started yelling. A naked woman ran by, fell down, and then was engulfed. He turned around and saw silver, also naked, also engulfed. And now he doesn't know what to do because he was going to go get silver, but Tamit is going there, and now Brianna's in trouble too. So he's just like looking back and forth and looking back and forth and he's just going to go back to the well, he's going to rage. Okay, frosty frost. [00:23:22] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:23:22] Speaker H: He sees the frost bomb, seems to have done something, so he rages. He steps forward towards the ooze that has now engulfed Brienna and just chops down with his halberd as hard as he can. [00:23:36] Speaker D: Brianna trying to move in a certain way to miss the Halberd while she's. [00:23:42] Speaker A: And it's like, all right, so you hit it. [00:23:45] Speaker H: No, move your hand. [00:23:46] Speaker A: Move your hand the other way. Is there frost on this or is it just straight piercing? [00:23:52] Speaker H: So it's a 24 to hit. [00:23:54] Speaker D: Nice. [00:23:54] Speaker H: And since he's using the axe part of it, it's a slashing attack. It does nine slashing damage, and it does four cold. [00:24:01] Speaker D: All right, nice. [00:24:02] Speaker A: A cold seems to be really effective. I'm a Pokemon. Next is silver. All right. [00:24:12] Speaker I: How do I escape? [00:24:14] Speaker F: Engulf things? [00:24:15] Speaker I: I don't have any weapons on me. [00:24:17] Speaker A: Or anything like that. [00:24:19] Speaker F: Use the escape action. [00:24:20] Speaker A: You can use the escape action, which is your. I looked at these, like, reflex save dcs, and I looked at your guys'bonuses, and I was like, oh, no one will get in golf. [00:24:31] Speaker F: It's athletics. [00:24:32] Speaker A: Athletics. Okay, so I have the DC. So go ahead and roll your athletics to escape. So you struggle against the ooze and you are so very close, you feel your hand start to breach out, but it pulls you back in. [00:24:47] Speaker D: He couldn't breach with a 23. Good grief. [00:24:55] Speaker I: How many actions does the escape action take? [00:24:58] Speaker A: One. [00:24:58] Speaker F: One. But it is an attack action, I guess. [00:25:01] Speaker I: Can I critically fail? [00:25:02] Speaker A: Yes. And you would lose two rounds of holding your breath. [00:25:06] Speaker F: He already lost two rounds. [00:25:07] Speaker A: Right. [00:25:07] Speaker F: He took an attack action, but if he critically fails, he would lose a third one. [00:25:11] Speaker A: Yes. Sorry. [00:25:11] Speaker F: Or maybe two additional. [00:25:13] Speaker E: I think it's two additional. So it would be like four total loss this round. [00:25:17] Speaker H: This is really bad. [00:25:18] Speaker F: Oh, no. You lose one round worth of air each time you critically hit or critically fail. [00:25:22] Speaker D: Why did we want to come here again? [00:25:24] Speaker I: All right, well, I don't want to do that again because I only have three rounds of air left, so I can't really attack again because of that same problem. And I can't really do anything, so. [00:25:39] Speaker D: Sorry. And you're not close enough for me to liberate you. [00:25:42] Speaker A: Pass. [00:25:44] Speaker D: Yeah, well, magic. [00:25:47] Speaker I: I pass. [00:25:48] Speaker A: Oh, no. [00:25:49] Speaker H: All right. [00:25:49] Speaker A: The SAP, the living SAP that holds silver, swings its pseudopod at Temit. Bring it with a roll of natural 20. [00:25:59] Speaker E: Wait, what? [00:26:00] Speaker A: 37. [00:26:01] Speaker F: Well, it doesn't have a name, right. [00:26:04] Speaker A: 37 to your person. [00:26:05] Speaker E: You know, that is John. [00:26:07] Speaker F: Definitely a crit. [00:26:08] Speaker A: We're all naked. [00:26:09] Speaker F: Except for pond Watcher. [00:26:11] Speaker H: Yeah, Pond Watcher has his breastplate on, but just no pants for some reason. [00:26:14] Speaker F: Equal protection. Doesn't matter. [00:26:16] Speaker A: Take 36 damage. [00:26:19] Speaker E: This isn't good, guys. This is not good. I mean, he's not down or anything, but that certainly took more than half of his hit points. [00:26:28] Speaker A: And it's going to swing again. Fuck. Who has the whistle with a natural one? And then the third attack or a. [00:26:36] Speaker E: 1010 would be a crit fail. But it's not. [00:26:41] Speaker A: So it smacked you pretty hard. [00:26:43] Speaker E: It certainly did. [00:26:44] Speaker H: But you're not wearing armor, right? [00:26:46] Speaker E: I am not. I've got a 22 ac without armor. [00:26:49] Speaker F: Wow, really? [00:26:50] Speaker A: Twin talent? [00:26:52] Speaker H: That's better ac than me with armor. [00:26:55] Speaker D: Really? [00:26:56] Speaker H: Yeah. [00:26:56] Speaker F: I don't know that. That's correct. [00:26:58] Speaker E: Yeah. So I unequipped my armor and I don't have a shield. Here, let me click on my ac. But where does it give you the break? [00:27:08] Speaker F: You'd have to have like a seven dex mod for that to be true. [00:27:10] Speaker A: So you're trained in armor. You have an ability bonus of plus four because you have an 18 deck. Your starting armor class is ten plus your character level, which is 16. Yeah. [00:27:22] Speaker E: So it's 24 plus 16. [00:27:24] Speaker F: So that's 22 minus also 22. [00:27:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:27:28] Speaker F: I don't know, maybe this is yours. First edition just feels weird. [00:27:32] Speaker H: But you're trained in. [00:27:32] Speaker A: No, it does feel very strange. [00:27:34] Speaker H: You're trained in armor, but you're not wearing armor, so why would being trained in armor. [00:27:38] Speaker F: Well, no, you're trained in being unarmored. If you have light armor proficiency, you also have the same unarmored armor proficiency. [00:27:47] Speaker A: Interesting. [00:27:48] Speaker F: Which makes monks kind of crap. [00:27:50] Speaker E: Yeah. So basically armor is effective, but it isn't absolutely necessary at all. [00:27:58] Speaker H: Anyway, you're about to die. [00:27:59] Speaker A: Yes. Twin Talon, you're up. [00:28:01] Speaker E: I know. It doesn't matter. I know who you can. Precise strike. That's the rest of us. So maybe if you join forces with this thing, you'd kill us. [00:28:11] Speaker F: Yeah, it'll leave you alone. Well, actually, I'm measuring the distance between me and it and seeing how far it would be to run away. How fast are they? Pull a silver my last party, blah blah blah. So although I do a lot less damage, well, I do like half the damage with my bow that I do with my swords. I can attack three times with bow and zero times with the swords this turn. So I'm just going to attack twice with the bow and then probably pick up my sword, assuming that my attacks don't go awry and I murder myself or something. [00:28:48] Speaker A: You hit? Yep. [00:28:49] Speaker F: Another one. Damage. Super fucking awesome. That was the one that's holding Brianna, by the way. Brianna. Sorry. I will attack a second time. It's going to be 23 to hit. [00:29:00] Speaker A: That will hit for seven damage. All right. [00:29:03] Speaker F: And then for the third action, he's going to pick up one of his swords. [00:29:09] Speaker C: Soraya she's going to make and throw another frost vial at the one that is holding silver. Does the twelve hit? [00:29:19] Speaker F: That'll hit natural one. [00:29:21] Speaker A: Oh, it's a natural one. [00:29:23] Speaker F: The natural one. [00:29:25] Speaker A: I forgot that red box means it's a natural one also. [00:29:29] Speaker F: Twelve hits them. [00:29:30] Speaker A: Jeez, they're oopsies. [00:29:31] Speaker F: Yeah, but I mean, Tevin's a naked man with a 22. [00:29:34] Speaker E: Yeah, but it's got no decks and it's probably not trained in whatever it's trained. Or maybe it's trained in natural armor. [00:29:40] Speaker A: It's trained in engulfing people. [00:29:42] Speaker D: So rude. [00:29:44] Speaker C: I'm Phil. Healed. You are clumsy. One all thumbs. What is clumsy? [00:29:50] Speaker A: Clumsy and inexact. Your decks based checks and dcs, including ac reflex saved and range attack roles are reduced by the number that you are. So you lose one. [00:30:03] Speaker C: Yeah. All right. And then I don't think she can throw it this time just because I think it takes an action to grab it. I want to check how something works. Yeah, so she's going to grab one of the pesh spine grenades that the akuja gave her so she can throw it next. [00:30:19] Speaker A: Okay. Would Jasper like to do anything? [00:30:21] Speaker C: I would need to give him action. So he's just flapping around and calling and he's upset that everything is happening. [00:30:28] Speaker A: No. [00:30:28] Speaker D: Brienna, before I take my turn, I want to ask who has Renali's whistle? [00:30:33] Speaker A: I believe Twintallen does because this is the. [00:30:37] Speaker D: Okay. [00:30:37] Speaker F: Do I? I thought silver had it because he was blowing it. [00:30:40] Speaker D: No. Pond watcher. [00:30:41] Speaker F: Pond watcher. [00:30:42] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, Pond Watcher does. [00:30:43] Speaker H: I don't think he would have kept it because he doesn't really care about her. He would have given it to twin Talon probably. [00:30:49] Speaker F: Okay, that's fine. Talon's got it. [00:30:51] Speaker C: He did play with it. [00:30:52] Speaker D: Sorry, I had a mental. It would be like. And just like throw it over his shoulder. [00:30:59] Speaker A: Just chucked it into the woods. [00:31:01] Speaker F: That probably is what happened. It's when talent picked it up. [00:31:04] Speaker D: Oh, well, it's broken. [00:31:08] Speaker A: Okay. [00:31:09] Speaker F: Work at all. [00:31:11] Speaker D: Okay. [00:31:12] Speaker C: Just because. [00:31:13] Speaker D: I don't know. She said if you need me, call me. No matter where you are. [00:31:17] Speaker F: Anyway, no matter how far. [00:31:19] Speaker D: Thank you. [00:31:20] Speaker F: Don't worry, baby. [00:31:21] Speaker E: Even if you're three days away, you'll. [00:31:23] Speaker A: Be able to find your bones. That's great. [00:31:26] Speaker D: I was just going to say I don't know how their network of spidery fun things work. [00:31:33] Speaker F: I assume it's like the Lost Boys. [00:31:34] Speaker D: That's fair. So I guess I'm still holding my weapon. So I'm going to try and cut my way out. [00:31:40] Speaker A: All right, make an attack roll. [00:31:42] Speaker D: 18 hit. [00:31:43] Speaker A: Yes. If an eleven hit or twelve hits, an 18 will definitely. [00:31:47] Speaker D: That's true. [00:31:48] Speaker A: And you deal. Eleven damage in one strike. [00:31:51] Speaker D: Yes. [00:31:52] Speaker A: You burst forth from the inside of that, rupturing its stomach naked as a dare. [00:31:59] Speaker D: I was born. [00:32:01] Speaker A: So you are now free of that ooze. And I'm going to say you move to here because you just pop out for free. I slide out? [00:32:10] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:32:10] Speaker D: Okay, super. [00:32:11] Speaker E: And it dies. [00:32:12] Speaker A: No. Okay. [00:32:13] Speaker D: It's still alive. [00:32:15] Speaker A: Yes. [00:32:15] Speaker D: Cool. Am I prone? [00:32:18] Speaker A: No. [00:32:18] Speaker D: Guessing. No. You are released. [00:32:23] Speaker A: Do you want to be prone? [00:32:24] Speaker D: That makes sense. [00:32:25] Speaker A: Okay, you're prone. [00:32:26] Speaker D: I know that sucks for everybody, but just to pop out, I mean, I. [00:32:30] Speaker C: Imagine you slash a hole and stumble forward. Not that you fall over. [00:32:35] Speaker H: I'm having a hard time imagining how big it must be. Much bigger than it looks on this. [00:32:40] Speaker A: Yes. It's a medium sized creature. Like the amber portion that's slinking towards you is the size of you guys. Yeah. [00:32:49] Speaker H: So you could just step out. [00:32:51] Speaker D: Okay, fair. So she put her might behind her weapon. She saw a way out and she stepped through it and shudders. She says, I don't have time for this to herself and she will try again. All right, 24, you hit damage. [00:33:11] Speaker A: Still there. [00:33:13] Speaker D: And as my third, how close am I? What happens if I. No. Okay. Why not? I'm going to do it one more time because she doesn't seem the type to just back down. [00:33:24] Speaker A: What do you get? [00:33:25] Speaker D: 22 for twelve damage. [00:33:27] Speaker A: You hit ten minutes. [00:33:29] Speaker E: So I was looking through all of my spells, and unfortunately, the only one that would really help is does fire damage. And I have a feeling that it's not going to be very effective here since I heard it extra. So he's just going to go ahead and attack it. [00:33:41] Speaker A: All right. [00:33:41] Speaker E: Because that's all he's got in his pocket. 28 to hit. [00:33:45] Speaker A: That will hit. [00:33:46] Speaker E: And 13 piercing damage. [00:33:51] Speaker A: All right. Your stab strikes true. [00:33:54] Speaker D: Sweet. [00:33:55] Speaker E: All right, so he's going to strike again. Gosh darn it. [00:33:59] Speaker A: That misses. [00:34:01] Speaker E: Okay, so I roll a nine and that misses. [00:34:03] Speaker A: You rolled a natural one. [00:34:04] Speaker E: I'm sorry. A total of a nine. [00:34:06] Speaker A: Yes. [00:34:07] Speaker E: And so to finish off, he's going to use. [00:34:11] Speaker A: Wait, hang on a second. You're glossing over something. That's a natural one, sir. That's a critical fail. [00:34:17] Speaker E: Let's just move forward. We don't want to bog. [00:34:21] Speaker C: You know what I realized? I know this is a couple of attacks ago, but I got a Nat 20 and I didn't do a crit. [00:34:27] Speaker A: Success. [00:34:27] Speaker F: They don't take crits. [00:34:29] Speaker A: They don't take crits, though, right? So, yeah, let's have temid draw one of them beautiful blue crit miss cards. [00:34:36] Speaker C: We're in the same boat. [00:34:38] Speaker E: Okay. Melee. Too much stuff. You get tangled in your gear and are encumbered until you spend two interact actions to free yourself. Son of a. [00:34:49] Speaker C: Like tangled in your bedroll? [00:34:52] Speaker F: Yeah, like, what are you wearing? That could possibly be that. [00:34:55] Speaker A: Brianna. What does timid sleep in? [00:34:56] Speaker E: Brianna's towel made it over here somehow. [00:34:59] Speaker A: In all the fighting, it got kicked over. What is this doing? Oh, my God. [00:35:04] Speaker E: I'm entangled. [00:35:06] Speaker A: Yes, you are. Clumsy one. And take a ten foot penalty to all of your speed. [00:35:11] Speaker F: Clumsy is the Dex one, right? [00:35:13] Speaker A: Yes. Your dexterity based checks are minus. [00:35:15] Speaker E: Okay, so that doesn't affect what I was going to do, which would be to use my assurance with battle medicine to hit the DC 20 without rolling. It's exactly 20. And so I get two D. Eight. Plus ten hit points back. Okay, I was hurt pretty bad. [00:35:31] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:35:32] Speaker E: I get 20 hit points back. [00:35:33] Speaker A: 20 hit points back. [00:35:36] Speaker E: I'm back to 52 hit points. All right, that's the end of my turn. [00:35:39] Speaker A: The living SAP near Brianna and Pond Watcher is going to attack Brianna with a pseudopod because it's mad at you for getting out. You ruptured its stomach. [00:35:50] Speaker D: Not sorry. Right? [00:35:53] Speaker A: It's super mad at you. It rolls a natural 20 for a total of 37. [00:35:57] Speaker D: Fuck yeah. Wait, where are you rolling this? [00:36:01] Speaker C: He's rolling secretly, I promise. [00:36:02] Speaker F: He said he's rolling on hero app. [00:36:04] Speaker A: No, I'm rolling on this. I'll send you a screenshot if you'd like. [00:36:08] Speaker D: It's okay, we trust you. [00:36:10] Speaker A: I'm just using GM roll. [00:36:11] Speaker E: I want a notarized. [00:36:12] Speaker F: Notarized screenshot. Screenshots can be photoshopped, so since it's. [00:36:17] Speaker A: A crit, it does double damage. Single damage is 21, so you take 42 points of damage. [00:36:25] Speaker D: I'm looking real pond. Watch it, guys. [00:36:28] Speaker F: How much hit points do you have left? [00:36:30] Speaker D: Two. I have two hit points left. Oh, you'd be nice now, sucker. [00:36:40] Speaker A: 27. [00:36:41] Speaker H: That hits. [00:36:42] Speaker A: All right. Does 16 points of damage. All right, Brianna can pick evens or odds. Okay, I'll roll it. I'll roll it. [00:36:51] Speaker E: Roll it in the chat. Roll it in the chat. If it rolls on Brianna, then I take it back. [00:36:54] Speaker A: I roll the one. So it's going to attack Pond Watcher. Bring it on. I don't even like Mead. [00:37:02] Speaker F: Just trying to shove itself into your mouth. [00:37:05] Speaker A: Drink it. [00:37:05] Speaker E: Wait, you don't like Mead? [00:37:07] Speaker H: Eight that is a myth. [00:37:09] Speaker A: I figured as much. [00:37:11] Speaker I: Silver, I can't do anything at the risk of dying with your. [00:37:15] Speaker A: I mean, you can make. I will say you were very close to getting out. Okay. All right. [00:37:21] Speaker F: But even it rolled really well. [00:37:24] Speaker A: Twin Talon. [00:37:28] Speaker F: Move toward the one that pond watcher and Brienna are attacking. He'll take two moves to get up close. He will attack it. I don't know if it can be flat footed or not. I know it doesn't take my damage, but I'm just curious about its ac more than anything. [00:37:44] Speaker A: I am looking up that right now. Actually, it doesn't say they can't. So I will say you can decrease its ac if you'd like, because you are flanking it. [00:37:55] Speaker F: Right? So that means it's a 21 against its flat footed ac. It hits for nine. [00:37:59] Speaker A: All right, still ticking. All right, that's it. Yeah. [00:38:05] Speaker F: Move twice, tack once. [00:38:06] Speaker A: Pond watcher, no sneak attack. [00:38:08] Speaker H: And Pond watcher saw silver be engulfed. He sees twintel and run up through his peripheral vision and start stabbing the thing. He knows that they can handle it and we've been beating on it. So he's going to run 25ft around. Tempted to be in front of the one. Wait, hold on. This is really bad, actually. Yeah, no, that won't work either. Okay, he's going to run 15ft to be next to tempt. [00:38:37] Speaker E: Hey, I'll protect you. [00:38:38] Speaker H: Standing next to the one eating silver. And he is going to yell, timid, get out of the way. And then attack the ooze eating his friend Silver. He grabs temid's. Okay, well, never mind. I'll take that back. Okay. So he runs up next to timid. He grabs temid by the shoulder and yells, watch out. [00:38:59] Speaker A: Timid. [00:39:00] Speaker H: And he sees silver. His mind flashes back to all the times he's spent with silver. All the years on the road and his friend. And he sees him choking and dying and dissolving inside this thing. And the ice in his veins keeps building up and building up and it feels like it's coming out of his gorge. And he just screams at the creature. And a gout of ice in a cone sprays from his mouth like a dragon's breath and blasts into the creature's body. So you have a reflex save of DC 22 to get half damage. [00:39:33] Speaker A: One. [00:39:35] Speaker H: So the ice comes out, obliterating all the trees and all the grass in a 30 foot cone behind the creature. And it takes 19 cold damage. [00:39:45] Speaker A: 19 cold. Yeah, he's inside of it. [00:39:48] Speaker H: He's inside. [00:39:50] Speaker E: That means he takes quadruple damage, I think. [00:39:52] Speaker C: Right. [00:39:53] Speaker F: Can't avoid it. [00:39:54] Speaker E: No, he's surrounded by the. He's insulated. [00:39:57] Speaker D: Definitely like blubber. [00:40:00] Speaker C: Fine. [00:40:00] Speaker A: Feel like that did more than you thought it would. [00:40:03] Speaker H: I definitely didn't think it would do anything because it's never happened before. [00:40:06] Speaker A: All right, so he's going to be disappointed next time. How many actions is that? [00:40:10] Speaker H: That's two actions. So I'm done. [00:40:12] Speaker A: Okay. You moved. And you, Surreya. [00:40:15] Speaker C: All right, she's got her blue dragonfly grenade instead of the pesh flying grenade that she is going to throw. She is clumsy. So it's not a 30, it's a 29. [00:40:27] Speaker A: That'll hit. [00:40:31] Speaker C: So splash damage. That would be five piercing. Then she will make and throw another frost file. That's still going to be a 20. So that'll be ten cold damage. [00:40:47] Speaker A: This ooze looks like the SAP is starting to harden into Amber as all of this cold damage has been hit onto it. [00:40:55] Speaker C: And it takes another ten foot move penalty. Oh, sorry. One other thing. The peshling grenade, it is stupefied. [00:41:02] Speaker A: One. Is that a mental effect? [00:41:04] Speaker C: I don't know. [00:41:05] Speaker A: I'm assuming it doesn't affect it. [00:41:08] Speaker C: Yeah, I figured it doesn't really have much of a brain. [00:41:10] Speaker A: Brianna. [00:41:11] Speaker D: So Brianna realizes that she has this warm feeling on her leg and looks down to see that her femoral artery has been compromised. So she quickly looks around, sees her discarded towel, rips it, and attempts to do a quick tourniquet. As I do a battle medicine check. First I have to roll a medicine check to see if I succeed. 15. Oh, thank goodness. Okay. And then. Sorry. I'm still. Remember how to do this. I believe it's two d. Eight for my hp. So I'm going to roll and I get 13 back. [00:41:50] Speaker A: All right, that puts you at 15 total hit points. That was your first action. [00:41:54] Speaker D: She will take a moment to look over her shoulder to see how silver is doing. These seems to be covered. She then notices that twin Talon is here with her. And she feels a lot better about that as she attempts to swing for a 26 for 14 damage. [00:42:12] Speaker A: That will hit. [00:42:13] Speaker D: Excellent. And for my last action, she will do so again. 17 will hit. [00:42:22] Speaker A: Absolutely. [00:42:23] Speaker D: Again for 14. Slashing damage. [00:42:25] Speaker A: All right, it does not look good. Temid, finish the twin Talon. [00:42:31] Speaker E: All right. Ted's going to try to finish this thing off to save Silver's life. I'm very nervous. [00:42:36] Speaker D: You can do it. [00:42:37] Speaker I: If I die, I die. [00:42:39] Speaker D: Oh, jeez. [00:42:40] Speaker E: 23 to hit and I do seven. I'm sorry. 22 to hit because I'm encumbered, still hit. And so is that one off of damage too? [00:42:48] Speaker F: For encumbered, it's anything that's Dex related. So if you use Dex for damage, then. [00:42:52] Speaker E: Yeah, no, I don't get Dex. The damage that plus one is only for. Okay, so good. So it does seven piercing damage. [00:42:59] Speaker A: All right. You stab into it and. Still alive. [00:43:02] Speaker E: Still alive. Okay, he's going to go again. He thinks he has to try to take this thing out. 16 to hit. [00:43:09] Speaker A: That'll hit. [00:43:10] Speaker E: So he thrusts forward with ten piercing damage and slices into it. What happens? [00:43:15] Speaker A: You see some of the chunks fly out that have been frozen solid, but it's still alive. [00:43:22] Speaker E: This is a tough one. Let's see. So I would have a. All right, he does in this situation. You know what he. I'm just going to go for it. I don't care. Whatever it is what it is. This is going to be fun. [00:43:37] Speaker F: You hit nine, right? [00:43:39] Speaker A: Oh, nine. That's a miss. [00:43:44] Speaker E: All right. It's not a crit miss. [00:43:49] Speaker F: I think crits only happen on once. [00:43:50] Speaker E: Because this thing has. Okay, so, you know, he thinks. He thinks he has it lined up, but he strikes right through the same chunk that he just knocked out. And he feels just disappointed, like, just shame. But that's it. That's the end of his turn. [00:44:07] Speaker A: The living SAP that is surrounded by Brianna and twin Talon goes and it attack is going to try and finish off Brianna. [00:44:17] Speaker D: Oh, no. [00:44:18] Speaker A: But rolls a natural one. Yes. [00:44:23] Speaker D: Itself. Right. [00:44:24] Speaker A: Second attack, the pseudopod swings towards twin Talon for a total of 20. The third attack swings towards Brianna, trying to hit her for a total of 26. [00:44:39] Speaker D: Fuck yes. That'll hit. [00:44:41] Speaker A: Not Crit, right? [00:44:41] Speaker D: No, not a crit. [00:44:42] Speaker A: It swings, takes 21. Damage goes down as Brianna drops, bleeding out, wounded one. Yes. [00:44:54] Speaker F: Twittellon will call out Chad. [00:44:56] Speaker E: I'll be right there. [00:44:57] Speaker A: And it is now Silver's turn. But we'll find out what happens. Next. [00:45:07] Speaker F: Episode. [00:45:11] Speaker G: Things look grim for all heroes. Will they survive this random chance encounter? Will Silver be able to free himself from the SAP? Will someone be able to save Brianna from bleeding out? Find out on the next episode of the Crept Die podcast. And now a word from our sponsors. [00:45:37] Speaker B: So you're looking for a history lesson, are you? Want to know where we came from and how we got to these strange times? Well, this might take some more time. At least more than one night's rest. I'll tell you what. But. All right, let's get started. We can just skip the age of creation. We all know what happened then. The name says it all. It's the mythic times. The time when Galerian was created. Some say that the great beyond was created then as well. All the plains whooshed into existence. You know, we ain't too sure about none of it. Nothing really remains from that time. And, well, the gods ain't no good at record keeping for us mortals after that. Well, then came the age of serpents. The serpent folks slithered out of their holes and all across most of the world. It was the first time a mortal group started to gain control of things. But most things from that time are also gone and lost. Heck, we don't even know if the serpent folk could write. And even if they could, I doubt we'd be able to understand it or read it. Finally, the age of legend came about. That's when the mythical Aslanti came around. That's when humans started to show up. The legends of the Aslante could fill their own collection of Pathfinder chronicles. And I'm sure they have tried. But the only thing we really know for sure is that they saw a great flash in the sky. A few months later, the starstone fell, destroying all of aslant and any other civilization that existed. When the Starstone fell, it ushered in the age of darkness and shadows. That's where we actually can start. We actually have some records of these this time. The age of Shadows is when the orcs made it to the surface from their dark land homes. They were running from the dwarves. And don't let them tell you any different. They were running, but when they got to the surface, they rampaged across the world all but unopposed. It's about that time when Zoe Cthun, the midnight Lord, returned to these lands from his exile in the shadow plains. These ain't much good stories to tell or to fall asleep to, I reckon. But talking about Zokuthun could give anyone nightmares. If his worshippers are anything to look at. What? They're paintings of a pale, gaunt, hairless man wearing tight leather clothing with pots cut out that most decent people would cover. Then there's the body modifications. His lips removed, hooks and pearsons contorting his face into revolting expressions. Enhanced with the crystal which resides in the cavity where his left eye once was. Atop his head, a vertical crown of spikes that pulls his skin into a disturbing sunburst. And if that ain't bad enough, the back of his skull was completely gone, revealing his brain. That gives you the willies. But I digress. We can talk about the gods and deities later. It's getting late. I need to retire for the evening. Let's pick up with the age of darkness tomorrow night.
