You then spent an entire day resting and recuperating, as well as exploring and finding items. So all that's left is either to go back to the citadel and keep working on your repairs, or you can go through the other gate. [00:03:55] Speaker D: We'll see what kind of hex map we have to explore this time. I don't actually think it's going to. [00:04:02] Speaker B: Be that again, but I doubt it. What? I just. Before we go through, I just want to verify. Sean, we are all healed up. We have our spells. We're not like. [00:04:14] Speaker A: Yes. [00:04:15] Speaker B: Okay. Cause while it would be a dick move to put us against this giant, fight against the hags, and then immediately make us fight something else. I've played. So I just want to verify that we're prepared, that's all. [00:04:35] Speaker A: No, absolutely no. You've all rested. You've actually rested. Two days. Two days have passed in here. Just so you all know, it is the toils day, the 24th of Rova, 4719 ar. [00:04:51] Speaker E: So if you're concerned about that, perhaps we should go back to the first portal, find a forest full of boars and just work on them for a while to train up. [00:05:03] Speaker B: I mean, we. Man, we could kill boars in the forest until we're level ten, but I. [00:05:10] Speaker E: Was thinking we're, like, 2020. [00:05:11] Speaker B: Sure, why not? [00:05:47] Speaker A: Absolutely. [00:05:48] Speaker B: So if everybody's ready to go, Twintalent will be carrying the book with the two rituals in ithemenous. Speaking of which, summon planar ally was the one ritual. Correct. [00:06:00] Speaker A: Summon planar ally as well as resurrection. [00:06:04] Speaker B: Right. So I'm just curious if it would be. I don't know how long they last, but if it'd be worth, like, summoning a planar ally before we go through. [00:06:18] Speaker D: I mean, do we have the ritual descriptions? Will that tell us how long it lasts? [00:06:23] Speaker B: Cast one day. Cost is rare incense and offerings for a total of two gold times the spell level, which is five times the target's level, which I don't know what the target would be. Secondary casters is two must share your religion. So we all have to have the same religion, which I don't know that we do. So I guess maybe that's not going to work out. [00:06:42] Speaker C: Oh, you mean you guys are heretics and not following sarenrae seems cool. Heretics. [00:06:51] Speaker B: All right. [00:06:52] Speaker A: Looks like someone needs to start to proselytize and baptize some new. [00:06:59] Speaker B: Oh, that's you. What's the. What's that? You want to be liberated? [00:07:25] Speaker B: Okay, so that portal, right, was a portal and a knife. I'm gonna touch it. I'm gonna touch it with my star knife. [00:07:32] Speaker A: You gently press the star knife against the portal. It begins to shimmer. You smell the sea wafting through the portal as it opens. [00:07:43] Speaker E: I'm gonna dive through the portal as you cannonball. Yeah. [00:07:50] Speaker C: Oh, no. [00:07:52] Speaker A: All right. How are the rest of you going through the portal? [00:07:55] Speaker C: Not diving, that's certain. [00:07:57] Speaker D: Yeah. Yeah. [00:07:58] Speaker B: More cautiously than that, Twintalon will take a deep breath and hold it while he steps through the portal. Just in case. [00:08:05] Speaker E: Goblin bomb. [00:08:08] Speaker A: As three of you walk through the portal and one of you goblin bombs through the portal, you emerge in a 30 foot cavern with a single exit to the north. You hear crashing surf crashing against rocks. [00:08:27] Speaker E: Okay, can I roll to see if I landed on my head? [00:08:30] Speaker A: Uh, no, you didn't land on your head. You firmly jumped and landed right on your butt. [00:08:36] Speaker B: I'm disappointed when you say 30 foot cavern is a 30 foot tall or deep or long. [00:08:43] Speaker A: 30 foot diameter. [00:08:45] Speaker B: So it's a circle. [00:08:46] Speaker A: Yes. And you do see an exit to the north where sun is beaming through. [00:08:54] Speaker B: All right, I'm gonna look first for any dragon. Pillars. [00:08:57] Speaker C: Checksa. [00:08:58] Speaker A: No pillars. [00:08:59] Speaker B: Okay, good. Good start. And then I guess Twintalon will stealth toward the entrance and look around to see what's outside. [00:09:07] Speaker A: All right. What is Saraya doing? [00:09:12] Speaker D: I'm gonna be poking around. I'm quite familiar with living in caverns, so just seeing if there's anything interesting, any signs of life, any. [00:09:21] Speaker C: Okay, Brianna, I think Brian is gonna follow her bestie. [00:09:27] Speaker A: All right. Are you gonna raise your shield and move forward? Yep. Yeah. Okay. And knife. Sword. [00:09:33] Speaker E: I'm gonna clamber into the backpack and pull out an umbrella and a towel and start running for the exit. [00:09:42] Speaker A: Okay. So as you reach the end and look out the entrance of the cave, you see that you are on a seaside cliff about 50ft up. About 30ft below is a rocky beach. And in the distance you can see the steaming sea to the north. While just to the northwest, the coastline comes to a point where a small town is located. You notice that it sits about a half a mile away along the coastline, dotted with cypress trees. Smoke rising from a few smoldering buildings in the town. While an unusually large ship is anchored at the town's quay. [00:10:31] Speaker B: What? How is it unusually large? [00:10:34] Speaker A: From the size of the town, a boat this large would not be dock in a town this size. [00:10:42] Speaker E: So it's like a battleship parked at a fishing village. [00:10:45] Speaker A: Yes. [00:10:46] Speaker B: Okay. [00:10:47] Speaker E: I'm gonna disappointedly put my towel and umbrella back. [00:10:51] Speaker A: Okay. [00:10:52] Speaker B: And where we are is we're on a cliff that's 30ft up you said? [00:10:57] Speaker A: Yes. The cave emerges from a seaside cliff. It's 50ft up to the bluff above and 30ft down to the rocky beach below. [00:11:08] Speaker B: Okay, so we're. We could either climb up or down. So I. Yes, I see no reason to climb up right now. [00:11:16] Speaker D: I mean a vantage point, see what else is around. I guess I have a climb speed. [00:11:22] Speaker B: So I could do pretty easily climb on up there. [00:11:27] Speaker A: All right, so Saraya, you're gonna climb up to get a better vantage. Brianna, what are you going to do? [00:11:33] Speaker C: I'm going to keep a look around to make sure nothing's going to sneak up on us. [00:11:39] Speaker A: Where is your character initially from? I know you live in breech Hilt currently. [00:11:44] Speaker C: Originally we were from Corvosa. [00:11:50] Speaker A: Corvosa. Okay, cool. That's what I wanted to make sure. Why? Just wondering. Hmm. [00:11:57] Speaker C: Sounds Susan. [00:11:58] Speaker A: I mean Sean's always says twin Talon, what are you doing? [00:12:02] Speaker B: Um, Twintalon is going to be keeping an eye as well. Um, trying to stay hidden. I mean below us. It doesn't look anything's on the beach below us. Right? You didn't mention anything. [00:12:14] Speaker A: Correct. [00:12:15] Speaker B: Um, so Twintalon will be. Twin talon's just gonna be hanging out, keeping an eye. He's not gonna go down yet, but he'll look down, make sure nothing's down there. And he's just gonna wait till Soraya tells him, you know, what's going on before he starts climbing down or up or wherever. [00:12:30] Speaker A: Okay. And knife sword, now that you've disappointedly put your beach towel away, which I just want to let you know, the design was a goblin in a two piece with a bright smiling sun. [00:12:47] Speaker C: Checks out. Yep. [00:12:49] Speaker E: Seems right. [00:12:51] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:12:52] Speaker A: So what are you doing? Knife, sword. [00:12:53] Speaker E: Um, I'm going to do my little. I can't get that far, can I? How far away is the ship? [00:13:03] Speaker A: Oh, it's about a half a mile away. [00:13:06] Speaker E: Um, is it flying any colors? [00:13:09] Speaker A: Oh, good question. Give me a perception check. Uh, Saraya, can you please also give me a perception check? [00:13:18] Speaker D: Absolutely. [00:13:20] Speaker A: Cause you make it up to the top. No problem. [00:13:22] Speaker E: I got a 24 on perception. [00:13:24] Speaker A: Can Brianna and Twintalon give me a society check? [00:13:33] Speaker C: Brianna got a 17 for society. [00:13:36] Speaker A: Okay. [00:13:37] Speaker B: Got a 19. [00:13:38] Speaker A: Great. And Saraya, what did you get for your perception? [00:13:41] Speaker D: 25. [00:13:42] Speaker A: Knife, sword and Saraya both can see at the. In the distance, the town, there's. There seems to be movement in frenetic patterns, as if people are running, as if there might be panic in the streets. Twin Talon and Brianna, even though you're looking around, trying to figure out where you are, I'm keeping an eye on things. You kind of don't know where in the world you are right now. You're near the steaming sea. You can. You can tell that's the steaming sea, but you're not sure where the steaming sea. [00:14:25] Speaker C: You said. [00:14:26] Speaker A: Yes. [00:14:26] Speaker C: Okay. [00:14:28] Speaker B: Okay. Matt doesn't know where the steaming sea is, but where is that in. In relation to where we were? [00:14:36] Speaker A: So the steaming sea is actually near Verezia. [00:14:46] Speaker B: Okay, so it's quite a bit north from where we are. [00:14:48] Speaker D: Okay, interesting. [00:14:51] Speaker A: So the steaming sea is southwest of Viregia, northwest of Ravnul, and it's kind of near the holds of Beltskin, which is where orcs live or lived. [00:15:12] Speaker B: I mean, that's on the opposite side of Parisia. So if we're near this theming sea, like we. Is this theming sea all the way down to Ravenel, or is it only up there? So that could be in Ravenel. We could be in. Near Magnamar. Like, we don't. We're not sure where we are. [00:15:31] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:15:31] Speaker B: Okay. [00:15:32] Speaker A: Not sure where you are. [00:15:34] Speaker B: Well, I hear this adventure path was going to Ravenel and Contago from the info dump we got from that guy with no eyeballs and bloody pants. So I'm gonna guess we're down that way. [00:15:45] Speaker E: But other than that, yeah, we're obviously in. But we're inside of a mountain, and there's something labeled the whole. The hollow Mountain. So ipso facto, presto change. Yes. [00:15:58] Speaker A: Okay, you're somewhere on that, you know, western coast. [00:16:03] Speaker B: Okay. Also, I remembered now why Contago sounds familiar. It was the hell's rebels adventure path happened there. [00:16:13] Speaker A: Correct. [00:16:15] Speaker B: Which means if those are. If the events that are canon, Contago should be, like, in the hands of good people now. I think that's how it worked out. [00:16:27] Speaker A: I believe so. So here. Here's the deal with these adventure paths. They are all. Everything from one e is still canon. So Cantargo is under good people's rule now. Queens have taken over in from, like, war for the crown. Okay, curse of the crimson throne happened. All of the old AP still happened. Okay, so. [00:17:05] Speaker B: Yes, okay, well, if sorrel doesn't see anything beyond what we all see, we should probably make our way to the town since that's our only point. Of reference. [00:17:18] Speaker D: Yeah. Is there anything crazy happening on top of the bluff that I encounter, or. No. [00:17:22] Speaker A: Uh, nope. Nope. It looks like this place has been, like, abandoned or. Nothing is here. [00:17:30] Speaker D: Jesper gets into a fight with a seagull. That's about it. [00:17:33] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, my goodness. There are seagulls. [00:17:38] Speaker C: Oh, no. Oh, no. [00:17:40] Speaker D: I wasn't even thinking about that. [00:17:44] Speaker C: Oh, no. [00:17:46] Speaker E: I'm climbing in the backpack. Shutting the lid. [00:17:50] Speaker D: So Saraya scrambles back down into the caves. No, it just seems like there may be some distress happening in the town, so we may wish to scoot that way. [00:18:01] Speaker A: Intercede to head down is a relatively easy climb from the entrance to the beach. I do need athletic checks, though. [00:18:11] Speaker C: Okay. [00:18:12] Speaker D: Even if I have a climb speed. [00:18:13] Speaker A: If you have a climb speed, you do not need to make an athletics check. Knife, sword. You do not need to make an athletics check. Brianna, for some reason, your athletics check is one harder. [00:18:23] Speaker C: What the fuck? [00:18:26] Speaker B: Might be all that weight in your backpack? [00:18:27] Speaker D: No, Saraya just skitters down the side of the mountain. She learned from the first rope endeavor and, like, decided she needed to climb. Learn how to climb. [00:18:37] Speaker C: So, Brianna, I rolled a natural one. [00:18:42] Speaker A: Correct. However, you still succeed because you critically succeeded on the roll with your total. [00:18:54] Speaker C: Oh. [00:18:56] Speaker A: So basically, the crit fail and the crit success cancel each other out, and a 20 is more than enough to climb down. [00:19:04] Speaker C: That's fun. [00:19:06] Speaker A: Twintalon, you scamper down with no problem. [00:19:09] Speaker B: Good, good. I got 23, by the way, in case anybody cares. I mean, people can't see the. [00:19:15] Speaker A: No, that's true. I forget that sometimes. Sorry. So as you start your walk towards the town, the seaside village, if you will, you take about an hour to get there to start to make progress, not because you're walking slow or anything, but because it's, you know, a kind of a rocky beach area. And I don't know how many of you have run or tried to run in sand, in, like, damp sand. It's not easy. [00:19:53] Speaker B: It's tough. [00:19:54] Speaker A: Yeah, it stinks. [00:19:56] Speaker B: If you're someone who runs and you're like, I feel like I'm a good runner. Just run on a beach. [00:20:01] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:20:02] Speaker B: And you'll be like, I don't know what happened to my legs. [00:20:06] Speaker A: So after about an hour, you start to head into. You start seeing small houses and whatnot, some trees and some sandheen. And as you reach the town, you notice that there are no people in the street. Suspiciously empty. However, in front of you, walking out of one of the houses and away from your group, you see a dwarf pulling a mandeh in chains with a, with a medium sized boar also on a leash, and three women with crossbows in their hands. [00:21:04] Speaker B: Do they look like the three women we are? The three one we saw previously? [00:21:09] Speaker A: The tokens look the same. They do not look identical. They're not triplets or anything like that, but they are definitely look like they're sneakier than the person leading them. But it looks like they've come out of the house on the left and they're about to go into the house on the right. [00:21:29] Speaker D: I just have to say again, I'm sure I said it last time, that when their tokens are minimized like that, it just looks like Alyssa Edwards without her wig on. And it's kind of hilarious to me. Anyway. [00:21:44] Speaker B: Is the whole group going from the west to the east or are just the triad sneaks going from the west to the east? [00:21:51] Speaker A: Everyone is going. Everyone is. It looks like they're kind of sweeping, looking for more people. [00:21:57] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay. So it almost looks like this is like a piratey type raid, that this big ship has come into this small port. All of the frenetic movement that you described earlier of people running around, people being taken away in chains, it seems like. Like the town's being raided. [00:22:16] Speaker D: Yeah, it's the vibe I'm getting. [00:22:18] Speaker C: What is our call here? [00:22:19] Speaker B: I say we fuck them up. Like, we can't. We can't let people get hurt. Right? We're heroes. It's our whole vibe. [00:22:25] Speaker C: Okay. [00:22:28] Speaker D: We can. We can try to talk first, you know? [00:22:32] Speaker C: I mean, I don't want to just assume something's happening without. [00:22:37] Speaker B: That's fair. [00:22:38] Speaker C: Properly knowing. That's all. [00:22:40] Speaker D: Try to talk first. [00:22:42] Speaker B: All right. So, uh, I guess we'll start walking toward them. [00:22:47] Speaker A: Okay. As you. [00:22:48] Speaker B: Is that okay with everybody else? I'm not making this. [00:22:50] Speaker D: Yeah, no, that's fine. Walk towards them. [00:22:53] Speaker C: Let's do it. [00:22:55] Speaker B: Life sword. [00:22:57] Speaker E: I want to try it right now. Just. Did the birds go away? [00:23:02] Speaker B: There are birds in your party. They will never go away. [00:23:06] Speaker A: Let me know when you want to stop walking. [00:23:10] Speaker D: Within like 15ft. [00:23:12] Speaker B: Yeah, that's good there. I mean, they. Do they react to us walking up to them? [00:23:17] Speaker A: Absolutely. So as you approach, they turn. [00:23:20] Speaker B: Can we talk about our formation here for a second? [00:23:23] Speaker A: Yes, you may adjust yourselves. [00:23:25] Speaker D: Do we want to do a little v formation? [00:23:28] Speaker B: I think that maybe Brianna in the back is probably not the way we wanted to go about it. [00:23:33] Speaker D: Yeah, I think me and Brianna can probably switch because I think I'm more upfront. Oh no. [00:23:39] Speaker A: As you approach, you see the three crossbow wheeling women. Turn around, the crossbows aimed at you. And the dwarf turns around and smiles, dropping the leash of the boar. And he steps up. You notice that the person in the middle is attached to a chain with a high muzzle like collar attached to his neck and lower face. Unable to speak. [00:24:17] Speaker B: Hmm. [00:24:19] Speaker A: The dwarf looks at you, smiles. You see that he's missing teeth and just there's mat. His beard is all matted and like knotted up. And he smiles and goes, ah, some prime. Prime captives. [00:24:39] Speaker C: Ah, so you are slavers. [00:24:41] Speaker A: Give up your weapons and surrender and this will go much easier. [00:24:47] Speaker D: This is not going to go the way you expect it to, I can promise you that. [00:24:51] Speaker C: Precisely. [00:24:51] Speaker B: That is almost certainly true. And twin Talon will pull out his weapon and be like, okay, I'm gonna give it to you, don't worry. [00:25:00] Speaker A: All right, so I'm assuming x gonna. [00:25:03] Speaker D: Give it to you. [00:25:05] Speaker B: Exactly. [00:25:06] Speaker C: Is that the title of the song? [00:25:08] Speaker D: There we go. [00:25:08] Speaker A: Yes. [00:25:09] Speaker D: That's this episode. [00:25:36] Speaker A: And knife sword, 28. All right, so the dwarf will be going first and he will draw out a flail and step forward. [00:25:57] Speaker B: Kill the triad sneaks they'd never suspected. [00:26:02] Speaker A: 20. And he will demand that you drop your weapons. [00:26:10] Speaker C: Cute. [00:26:12] Speaker A: Then one of the triad sneaks will go. They will. Or she will draw. Drop their crossbow, old move. Draw rapier and move up near Briena. [00:26:36] Speaker B: I like that she walked past Brienne to get there. I'm not really sure what her deal is, but I'm interested to see what this tack. [00:26:41] Speaker A: I was gonna stay close, but then I decided not to. [00:26:44] Speaker C: Ah, so not close enough for me to reach out. [00:26:48] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:26:50] Speaker C: Okay. [00:26:51] Speaker A: Sorry. [00:26:52] Speaker D: Well, seeing as the starting to spread out like melted butter, take a couple steps. So I'm to the other side of twin Talon, right behind to Sani, and I'm going to throw a bomb at the Scarlet Triad sneak. That is still one of the two that's still standing closer to the captive. Let's. Let's go with the classic to start. Let's do some alchemist fire. [00:27:24] Speaker A: Fireball. [00:27:27] Speaker D: Look, I just, I like my fire. Alright? It's fun. Does a 35 hit her? I don't think I want to throw a bomb at her just because of how everything is situated. But I am going to throw one at the other sneak that I was targeting before. And this time I am going to do the calculated splash bit where it's going to be the 15 foot cone, because that should hit, I think, the boar and the other sneak. So for a second attack, it's only. [00:46:38] Speaker A: An 18 will miss. [00:46:41] Speaker D: Yeah. So does any of the splash damage still happen? [00:46:47] Speaker A: Yes, the splash damage will hit three of them.
