[00:00:39] Speaker A: Welcome to the 121st episode of the Cracked Die podcast.
[00:00:45] Speaker B: Hooray. All right. Look at us go foot loose and fancy free.
[00:00:53] Speaker A: I'm still impressed that, you know, we've done this 121 times.
[00:00:58] Speaker C: Hello.
[00:00:59] Speaker B: Honestly, the fact that we just like, kept a project going this long, pretty impressive.
[00:01:04] Speaker A: Actually, you're not wrong.
[00:01:06] Speaker B: I know.
[00:01:07] Speaker A: I remember when we first started this, we were lucky enough to have myself, Haya and Matt. We had a meeting with an audio editor to try and help us out. And he was like, yeah, if you go 50 episodes, you guys are in it for the long haul. And I was like, yeah, 50 episodes. And here we still are, I think.
[00:01:25] Speaker D: Was it ten is the average number of episodes of a podcast?
[00:01:28] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:01:28] Speaker C: Before it dies?
[00:01:29] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, something like that. Yeah.
[00:01:30] Speaker B: Really?
[00:01:31] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:01:32] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:01:32] Speaker A: I mean, there's a lot of work into this.
[00:01:34] Speaker B: I mean, there is.
[00:01:35] Speaker A: Yeah, it's funny. Cause you know, the joke is everybody has a podcast. Yeah. Everyone has a podcast that lasts ten episodes.
[00:01:42] Speaker B: Yeah. Not everyone keeps a podcast.
[00:01:44] Speaker A: Not as many people have enough podcasts that have 121 of them.
[00:01:49] Speaker B: Twelve times that. Yeah.
[00:01:51] Speaker C: Also, huge shout out to Garrett Schultz. Thank you so much for taking time out of your very busy schedule to chat with us nerds while we were starting out.
[00:01:59] Speaker D: Yeah, that's nobodies.
[00:02:00] Speaker A: It was very funny. Cause we were like, oh yeah, we'll see a gen con. And then that gen Con never happened.
Yeah, yeah.
[00:02:09] Speaker B: One day I'll feel safe enough to go back in public.
[00:02:11] Speaker A: You know what did happen?
[00:02:13] Speaker D: A pandemic.
[00:02:13] Speaker A: Well, that. But also, you guys have been fighting for a while now.
[00:02:18] Speaker C: Have we?
[00:02:18] Speaker A: Yeah, a whole five rounds. Four rounds. Sorry, four rounds. And you've managed to decimate a lot of my fun. You guys made it up to the 8th floor. You fought and killed two Velstreck evangelists. There's still one left. And you are still dealing with some scarlet triad thugs, if you will. Twin Talon has been hit a couple times, is a little in the yellowy health range. And there's a beardy book reader, as he's been called. And he's been casting and he was super defensive and cast like mirror image and raised some shields and all of these things. But then Knifezert came in and ruined his fun. Popped cast some black tentacles, has him captured with them.
[00:03:06] Speaker E: Sorry.
[00:03:07] Speaker B: Don't apologize.
[00:03:08] Speaker D: We're not.
[00:03:10] Speaker A: I got frustrated and I took my ball and went home last week. But now I'm back. I have a plan. It is twin Talon's turn. Let's see if I can enact this plan.
[00:03:19] Speaker D: Okay, great. So I would like to take this opportunity to say that if you are not watching Peacemaker on HBO Max, or as I like to call it, hobo Max, you're missing out. Just the dance sequence that opens the show. Fabulous.
[00:03:32] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh.
[00:03:33] Speaker D: By this point in time, when this episode actually comes out, the whole season will probably be out or whatever and it'll be old news. But for a character, when they announced that he was gonna have his own show, that I was like, why the fuck would you do that? It's really good.
[00:03:44] Speaker B: It's because John Cena is actually very charismatic. He can do it.
[00:03:49] Speaker C: Absolutely.
[00:03:50] Speaker D: Yeah. Okay. So that being said, twintalon's gonna stab this guy.
[00:03:54] Speaker A: All right?
[00:03:55] Speaker D: So the scarlet triad member directly to my east in the doorway there is gonna get a bad case of the stabby stabs. So that's a natural 20. That's natural 20 to start the episode?
[00:04:05] Speaker C: Hell yeah.
[00:04:06] Speaker A: That's. That's a 41 is a hit. That's a crit. That's actually a. Hang on, hang on, hang on. It's a single crit. Okay. Oh, no, it's a double crit. So you can draw two crit cards and pick the one you want.
[00:04:17] Speaker D: Okay, I will. So I can either do gusher. The target takes one d, six. Persistent bleed damage, still does double damage. Or punctured lung crit. The target is suffocating until subject to magical healing. I don't know that they are going to live long enough for either one of those to matter, but I like the thought of the punctured lung. It's very, like, descriptive, like, it's like a.
[00:04:42] Speaker B: It's got that kind of, like, precision thing that twin would do. Yeah, you just get in between the ribs and puncture along.
[00:04:48] Speaker A: You just want me to have to pull up the suffocation rules, Sean, you.
[00:04:52] Speaker D: See right through me.
All right, so it's 60 damage.
[00:04:57] Speaker C: Jeez.
[00:04:58] Speaker D: And I'm gonna put the thing on him where he takes extra damage for my future attacks.
[00:05:03] Speaker A: All right? He is still alive and suffocating. Okay, well, that was your first action.
[00:05:09] Speaker D: Yeah. So I think they're going to get another stab from me. I will attack again.
[00:05:14] Speaker A: Okay, that works.
[00:05:15] Speaker D: Would you believe I got another natural 20?
[00:05:17] Speaker C: Oh, my goodness.
[00:05:18] Speaker A: No, I wouldn't.
[00:05:19] Speaker D: I didn't. I didn't. I was asking if you would believe it.
[00:05:21] Speaker A: No, I wouldn't have.
[00:05:23] Speaker D: Okay, I got a 14 for a 31 on my second attack.
[00:05:26] Speaker A: 31. And is this person flat footed to you?
[00:05:28] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:05:31] Speaker A: 31 is still a regular hit.
[00:05:33] Speaker B: Okay, am I the only one that assumes everything is always flat. Footage to twin Talon.
[00:05:37] Speaker C: I do the same, honestly.
[00:05:39] Speaker D: I mean, that's a very safe assumption.
[00:05:40] Speaker A: Yeah, it really is.
[00:05:42] Speaker D: So second attack does 36 damage.
[00:05:45] Speaker A: Okay, he's still alive.
[00:05:47] Speaker D: Okay, Taysani is gonna take her one action and beak him. That is a 25 to hit.
[00:05:53] Speaker A: Doesn't matter. Yes, that's a hit.
[00:05:54] Speaker D: Okay, so that is ten damage from. Taysani can't grow. He's still up.
[00:05:58] Speaker A: Yes, he is. Okay, just blood is gushing everywhere out of this person.
[00:06:05] Speaker D: Okay, so Brianna's going next and then they're going to go.
[00:06:09] Speaker A: You have one more attack.
[00:06:11] Speaker D: No, I want more action. Sean, I'm not going to fall into the trap of making a third attack. What I am gonna do, though, is I am going to try to demoralize beardy McBook reader over here. Okay, so that is an intimidation check.
[00:06:25] Speaker A: Versus his will DC, right?
[00:06:28] Speaker D: I think that's correct. This never works. But if it does work, it gives him a negative to like everything. So it's worth a try. I mean, why not 23? That doesn't make it. Okay. I'm good.
[00:06:39] Speaker A: Hiyadhe, it is your turn.
[00:06:41] Speaker C: Let's see, let's see. What do I want to do?
[00:06:45] Speaker A: Turn against your friends and stab twin Talon.
[00:06:48] Speaker C: I could. I could. That could be fun.
[00:06:50] Speaker A: No one would see it coming.
[00:06:52] Speaker C: That is. That is very true. I do see that he's engaging in this scarlet triad member here. So I'm going to attack once.
Sorry, I'm debating things because I still haven't decided if it's a good idea or nothing. Cause I know I want to swap out my shield, but I don't remember if that's all three actions to put it away. Grab the other one.
[00:07:16] Speaker D: I think it probably would be two actions to do that.
[00:07:18] Speaker A: It would definitely be two.
[00:07:20] Speaker C: All right, so let's say I do a swaparoonie and a strike.
[00:07:23] Speaker A: Swaparoonie and a strike.
[00:07:25] Speaker C: Ooh, how's a 36?
[00:07:28] Speaker A: That's a critical hit.
[00:07:29] Speaker C: Hell yeah.
[00:07:30] Speaker D: Good job. Nice.
[00:07:32] Speaker C: Thanks. Thanks, guys. Armor damage. The target's armor also takes the damage. Apply the armor's hardness normally unden.
[00:07:41] Speaker D: I forgot it was a crit. For a second, I was like, wow.
[00:07:44] Speaker C: They take 38 points of damage.
[00:07:47] Speaker A: Would you like to describe your kill?
[00:07:48] Speaker C: Knowing Brianna, she'll probably, you know, step forth and seeing an opening kind of spin and swing and rend this person's head off their shoulders, since, you know, she does favor a scimitar and that's what they're good for, slashing ebuila.
[00:08:06] Speaker A: Great. So I have switched your shields for you, by the way, Brianna.
[00:08:09] Speaker C: Thank you, thank you, thank you.
[00:08:11] Speaker A: Just so you know, your new shield has 32 hit points, has a hardness of eight and a breakpoint of 16.
[00:08:19] Speaker D: Is that the dragon Slayer shield?
[00:08:21] Speaker A: That is the dragon slayer shield.
[00:08:23] Speaker D: Cool.
[00:08:23] Speaker A: It also has resistance. 18 from fire.
[00:08:27] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:08:28] Speaker D: Does that stack with her five from the ring?
[00:08:30] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:08:30] Speaker D: Cool.
[00:08:31] Speaker A: All right, that's it for you. Actually, that's it for me. Cause my guy died.
[00:08:35] Speaker F: Sorry.
[00:08:35] Speaker A: He's dead.
[00:08:36] Speaker D: Jim, you've got other dudes.
[00:08:38] Speaker B: What?
[00:08:38] Speaker C: A beardy McBeard face.
[00:08:40] Speaker D: Or the other Scarlet Triad member who's standing right next to the first one.
[00:08:44] Speaker A: There you go. Well, he's prone, so he's going to stand up as his first action.
[00:08:49] Speaker D: I wish I had attacks opportunity.
[00:08:51] Speaker A: He's going to slide over to where his friend was and then attack twin Talon with a flail. That's a three on the die for.
[00:09:00] Speaker D: A 21, that is. Amos. Good turn.
[00:09:03] Speaker A: Great. So next up is Beardy McCaster. He is going to spend all three actions because you killed his summoned creature. So he is no longer quickened. I mean, he is, but he can't use it for anything. He's going to cast a. A wall of force.
[00:09:21] Speaker C: Oh, boy.
[00:09:22] Speaker B: Is he grabbed by the tentacles?
[00:09:23] Speaker A: He is.
[00:09:24] Speaker B: Can he do that while he's grabbed?
[00:09:26] Speaker D: He has to make a flat check or the spell is lost.
[00:09:29] Speaker A: It's a DC five, right?
[00:09:31] Speaker D: I don't know, I just noticed. You must make a flat check or it is lost.
[00:09:34] Speaker A: Okay, let me just look. If you attempt to manipulate, you must succeed at a DC five flat check or it is lost. Okay, so DC five. How could I fail this?
Oh, gosh. It's an eleven. Up to 50ft long and 20ft high. So an invisible wall appears.
I guess it doesn't really appear.
[00:09:57] Speaker C: An invisible wall appears.
[00:09:59] Speaker B: Say that again slowly.
[00:10:00] Speaker A: So, just so you know, you can attack the wall. It has an ac ten hardness of 30 and 60 hit points. It is immune to critical hits and precision damage. Matt.
[00:10:09] Speaker D: What it's not immune to, though.
[00:10:10] Speaker A: What?
[00:10:10] Speaker D: Getting ton punched in the fart box by tentacles.
[00:10:14] Speaker B: That cheese?
[00:10:16] Speaker D: That is essential.
[00:10:19] Speaker A: The wall blocks physical effects from passing through it, and because it is made of force, it blocks incorporeal and ethereal creatures as well. Teleportation effects can pass through the barrier, as can visual effects. Since the wall is invisible, wall force is immune to counteracting effects of its level or lower. But wall is automatically destroyed by a disintegrate spell of any level or by contact with a rod of cancellation or a sphere of annihilation.
[00:10:44] Speaker D: Right. If the wall is in the area, the tentacles are just, like, flailing around in it. Just takes damage every turn.
[00:10:50] Speaker B: They'll beat on it.
[00:10:51] Speaker D: Just like this guy didn't get out of the tentacle. So he's just gonna get tentacled as well.
[00:10:54] Speaker A: Yep. All right, Rob, roll one d six, please.
[00:10:58] Speaker D: Three d six. Any creature you succeed at, and it takes three d six, bludgeoning damage. Whenever a creature ends its turn in the area, and blah, blah, blah. So three d six.
[00:11:05] Speaker A: Wait, any creature you successfully takes three d six, bludgeoning. Whenever a creature ends its turn in the area, the tentacle creep attempt to grab that creature, if they haven't already, and they deal. One d six, bludgeoning damage to any creature already grabbed. Okay, so since it's already grabbed, it's only one d six. Yeah.
[00:11:22] Speaker E: Okay, three.
[00:11:27] Speaker D: Three shall be the number, and the number shall be three.
[00:11:30] Speaker A: Okay. Three damage to casty McBeardy face. Saraya, it is your turn.
[00:11:36] Speaker D: Does it do three d six to the wall?
[00:11:38] Speaker A: Oh, I'm sorry. Yes, go ahead and roll. Three d six, ra.
[00:11:41] Speaker E: Okay, nine.
[00:11:43] Speaker A: Nine. All right, so it has a hardness of 30, which means the hardness is reduced by nine.
[00:11:49] Speaker D: The nine is reduced by 30, so it doesn't do nine. I didn't realize its hardness was so high. Geez.
[00:11:52] Speaker A: Yeah. Okay, cool. All right, now it is Saraya's turn.
[00:11:56] Speaker B: Wolf. Okay, the dwarf guy is still alive. Barely. Or is he dead?
[00:12:00] Speaker A: Barely alive.
[00:12:02] Speaker B: Okay. And there is a dude.
Okay, I can see the tentacle aura. There's a lot of overlapping auras happening.
[00:12:10] Speaker A: Yeah, I know.
[00:12:12] Speaker B: Okay, so I'm gonna move in right above. Ooh. And next to knife sword. Can I still target the guy that's grabbed? Do we know where the invisible wall is?
[00:12:19] Speaker A: No, it's invisible, but wall blocks physical effects from passing through it, so you can't physically go through it unless you destroy it.
[00:12:26] Speaker B: Okay, so clearly I have not. I assume because you didn't stop me from moving.
[00:12:30] Speaker A: Correct.
[00:12:30] Speaker D: And I'm guessing we don't really even really know what he cast. Right? Yeah, yeah. So we don't know that there's an invisible wall there. Boo.
[00:12:36] Speaker B: I'm gonna sling the guy that's right in front of me. So I'll move, I'll load it, and then I will try and hit him with it.
[00:12:41] Speaker A: All right, 27 we'll hit.
[00:12:44] Speaker B: Okay, so the damage is not much, but then he also has to save against the poison.
[00:12:50] Speaker A: So he takes one point and he makes a fortitude save PC.
[00:12:56] Speaker B: 29.
[00:12:57] Speaker A: 27.
[00:12:58] Speaker B: Cool. So he takes one d, ten poison, and is enfeebled one. The maximum duration is six rounds. So he takes seven poison, and he is enfeebled one. And next round, we will see what happens.
[00:13:08] Speaker A: Don't like that?
[00:13:10] Speaker B: I do.
[00:13:10] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:13:11] Speaker F: Ooh.
[00:13:11] Speaker A: It is your turn.
[00:13:12] Speaker F: Who is annoyed? This person next to her.
[00:13:17] Speaker B: So she's gonna swing.
[00:13:18] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:13:18] Speaker F: 29.
[00:13:20] Speaker A: Will hit.
[00:13:21] Speaker F: Yes, it will. 21 damage.
[00:13:23] Speaker A: Okay, still standing.
[00:13:25] Speaker F: Oh, God. We swing again.
25.
[00:13:28] Speaker A: Will hit.
[00:13:30] Speaker F: 17 damage.
[00:13:31] Speaker D: Still standing.
[00:13:32] Speaker F: So we swing again.
[00:13:34] Speaker D: Oh.
[00:13:36] Speaker F: This is where I will take my hero point, because I have not forgotten new hero point.
[00:13:41] Speaker B: New session. New hero point.
[00:13:42] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:13:43] Speaker F: 24.
[00:13:44] Speaker D: Jeez.
[00:13:44] Speaker A: Will hit.
[00:13:45] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:13:47] Speaker A: 19.
[00:13:48] Speaker B: And who pulls off the hat trick?
[00:13:50] Speaker F: 19.
[00:13:51] Speaker A: Please describe your kill.
[00:13:54] Speaker F: She's got her battle axe. She takes a strike like a baseball bat right across his head. Locks her right off.
[00:14:01] Speaker B: Whoo.
[00:14:02] Speaker C: There goes.
[00:14:03] Speaker A: As it dies, I it also dissipates into a blue flame.
[00:14:10] Speaker F: All right.
[00:14:11] Speaker A: Oh. Ooh. You're gonna take two points of bleed damage, but then you save with a 16, so you are no longer bleeding.
[00:14:18] Speaker F: Sweet.
[00:14:19] Speaker A: All right, back to knife sword.
[00:14:21] Speaker E: We're gonna place a fireball right where we place the tentacles.
[00:14:24] Speaker A: I don't know if you can also.
[00:14:27] Speaker B: Sorry. Thought it's a wall, so we would still see where the tentacles are either flattened or beating up against.
[00:14:33] Speaker A: It's fair.
[00:14:35] Speaker E: Okay, then I'm not putting a fireball in.
[00:14:38] Speaker A: It. Can't go through the wall, so you could throw it, but it wouldn't actually hit. And I'll be nice enough to tell.
[00:14:43] Speaker D: You that he's not throwing the fireball, though. I think that's the flavor text. But essentially, you pick a point and fireball erupts there. You don't throw it. Okay, so if it blocks spells going through it, then sure, but if it doesn't, then I don't think it works.
[00:14:55] Speaker A: It says it blocks physical attack, physical.
[00:14:58] Speaker D: Effects from passing through it.
[00:15:00] Speaker E: It says a roaring blast of fire appears at the spot you designate.
[00:15:03] Speaker A: All right, that's good enough for me.
[00:15:05] Speaker B: Yeah. So if anything, it would actually stop it from hitting us.
[00:15:07] Speaker E: That's true. So it's a DC 28 reflex.
[00:15:11] Speaker D: Save while you're entangled and flat footed. Yeah, it's all good.
[00:15:15] Speaker C: No big deal.
[00:15:16] Speaker A: 30.
[00:15:17] Speaker E: Okay. And then I'll roll the damage. Is that right?
[00:15:19] Speaker A: Yes, please.
[00:15:20] Speaker E: 17.
[00:15:21] Speaker A: So I take half of that. Eight points of damage.
[00:15:24] Speaker E: Okay. And that took two actions. So for my last action. No, that takes two actions. Magic missile. Probably couldn't get through the wall.
[00:15:34] Speaker D: No, because that specifically, like, streaks from you toward them, and it would impact on the wall. Assuming that we understand what the wall is or that it's there.
[00:15:40] Speaker E: Well, he said that we could see the tentacles slapping up against it.
[00:15:43] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:15:43] Speaker E: Okay, I'm gonna cast detect magic on the spot where the tentacles are slapping up against nothing. Would that not make it glow for me?
[00:15:51] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:15:52] Speaker E: Oh, no, I can't. That's two actions.
[00:15:53] Speaker A: Never mind.
[00:15:54] Speaker E: I'm just gonna hold on to my action.
[00:15:56] Speaker A: Okay. Twin talon.
[00:15:58] Speaker D: Okay, so Twintalon will look to Briana and be like, you got this guy. He'll point to the dwarf.
[00:16:04] Speaker C: I got him.
[00:16:04] Speaker D: Tental says, great. And then he disappears in a puff of smoke.
[00:16:08] Speaker B: I.
[00:16:09] Speaker C: What?
[00:16:09] Speaker D: And then he reappears in a puff of smoke right next to beardy McBookface. Sorcery cape of the Mountebank baby.
Yeah, so he'll bamp over there and then he will stab his gun. Bam.
[00:16:22] Speaker A: Go ahead.
[00:16:23] Speaker D: That is a 39 to hit his flat footed entangled wizard ac.
[00:16:28] Speaker C: Holy shit, that's a crit.
[00:16:30] Speaker D: Okay, great.
[00:16:32] Speaker E: I'm sorry, did you say wizard AC? What is. What is wrong with.
[00:16:35] Speaker D: Why looks like wearing cloth? Like he's not heavily armored. I mean.
[00:16:39] Speaker E: Yeah, okay, sure, yeah.
[00:16:41] Speaker D: Guarded strike gaining. Plus two circumstance bonus to ac until the end of your next turn. Great, so that makes my ac a 31 for a little bit. Oh, let's do some damage. Right, so that's 70 damage to him.
[00:16:54] Speaker A: Oh, my God.
[00:16:55] Speaker D: Okay, welcome to the paint train. And I will hit him with debilitating strike to get precise debilitations, which is my plus two d six damage.
[00:17:02] Speaker B: Oh, Jesus.
[00:17:03] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:17:04] Speaker D: So it's two actions to teleport, one action to strike him. I'm still concealed in smoke. However, I am ending my turn in the tentacles, which I did understand I was gonna have to do. So, knife, sword. You have to attack me.
[00:17:16] Speaker A: Okay, well, first off, he has to make a grab check against you.
[00:17:21] Speaker D: Right, but it's a spell attack roll.
[00:17:22] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, that's right.
[00:17:23] Speaker E: Okay, 36.
[00:17:25] Speaker D: Okay, so 36 will hit my DC was at 30. So I get grabbed by the tentacles and they do three d six damage to me. Now, I do have a question about that.
[00:17:32] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:17:33] Speaker D: I mean, I'm concealed, but I guess the tentacles don't see. They just kind of grab all the overplay stuff. If I was the GM, I would say that wouldn't matter.
[00:17:40] Speaker A: I'll punish you with your own call. Yeah.
[00:17:42] Speaker D: Cause the tentacles aren't looking for me. They're just grabbing anything that's in the area. So they probably grabbed the bed and everything else too. Yeah, they grabbed everything despite a bit of mistake. Oh, no, that's ten damage to me.
[00:17:54] Speaker A: Brianna, it is your turn.
[00:17:56] Speaker D: Also, Taysani gets to go. Do you hate brazilian people? Is that what your problem is?
[00:18:00] Speaker C: Wow, Sean.
[00:18:01] Speaker D: Wow.
[00:18:01] Speaker A: Wow.
[00:18:02] Speaker B: That's racist.
[00:18:04] Speaker A: I feel like called out for no.
[00:18:06] Speaker D: Reason, and she rolled a 19 to attack the scarlet triad person, so I don't think she is.
[00:18:09] Speaker A: She does miss.
[00:18:10] Speaker D: Okay, that's fine.
[00:18:11] Speaker C: Is it my turn then?
[00:18:13] Speaker A: Now it is your turn.
[00:18:14] Speaker C: Okay. Just making sure I'm not racist against Brazilians.
[00:18:18] Speaker D: Okay, good.
[00:18:20] Speaker C: So, as promised, Briana is going to take a step forward so she can see her friends. Hello, everybody.
[00:18:28] Speaker D: Hi.
[00:18:28] Speaker C: And she is going to hopefully finish off this here scarlet triad dwarf. Let's see how we do.
[00:18:36] Speaker A: I'd really like it if you didn't.
[00:18:38] Speaker C: How's it? 24.
[00:18:39] Speaker A: That's a hit.
[00:18:40] Speaker B: Cool, cool, cool.
[00:18:41] Speaker A: For 17 damage, would you like to make another attack? Cause it's still alive.
[00:18:47] Speaker C: Sure, why not?
[00:18:49] Speaker A: Ugh.
[00:18:50] Speaker C: I feel like I should give you my hero point.
[00:18:52] Speaker A: I'll take it.
[00:18:53] Speaker C: What do you guys think?
[00:18:54] Speaker D: It's your second attack, it's not your third, and they're gonna go next after you if you don't, so.
[00:18:59] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah.
[00:19:00] Speaker B: So, safe bet.
[00:19:01] Speaker A: All right, I took that hero point.
[00:19:03] Speaker C: Excellent. How's it 25 instead? Not much better.
[00:19:06] Speaker A: That's a hit.
[00:19:07] Speaker C: Oh, thank goodness. Okay, take some. Good lord. 20 damage.
[00:19:12] Speaker A: Now, would you like to describe your kill?
[00:19:14] Speaker C: She probably will continue the trend and also liberate him from his. His head. Off of his shoulders. So.
[00:19:23] Speaker D: Bye.
[00:19:23] Speaker C: Bye.
[00:19:23] Speaker B: Bye.
[00:19:24] Speaker F: Two.
[00:19:24] Speaker C: Don't need this anymore. How are you feeling, Sean?
[00:19:27] Speaker A: It's my turn. What am I going to do?
[00:19:30] Speaker F: Not cry?
[00:19:31] Speaker D: Stop crying, Shawn. There's no crying in Pathfinder.
[00:19:33] Speaker C: Your face will run.
[00:19:34] Speaker B: Why are you crying?
[00:19:36] Speaker E: Don't cry for me, Shantina.
[00:19:38] Speaker D: It's true.
[00:19:39] Speaker C: Truth is, we never left you. I hear Sean's brain melting from here.
[00:19:43] Speaker D: I think he's trying to think of how to murder me.
[00:19:44] Speaker B: I think he realized he's also boxed himself into a corner.
[00:19:48] Speaker D: I was trapped in here with you, but you're trapped in here with me. Okay, Rorjack.
[00:19:51] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:19:54] Speaker A: I had a plan, and then Matt messed it up.
[00:19:57] Speaker D: Hello.
I just want to put it out there. That twin talon has, I think, zero items that you haven't given us. Like, aside from maybe his armor. Like the base leather armor. Everything else on my sheet is stuff that we've picked up over the last eleven levels, so.
[00:20:13] Speaker B: Yeah, as in, like, campaign loot.
[00:20:15] Speaker A: Okay, I am going to cast a spell and they disappear.
[00:20:21] Speaker D: I suppose we'll allow it for now.
[00:20:23] Speaker B: You still have to make your flat check, don't you?
[00:20:25] Speaker C: He do.
[00:20:26] Speaker A: That's a three on the die.
[00:20:31] Speaker C: Three will not do it, sir. Oh, Shawn, I'm so sorry.
[00:20:35] Speaker A: Oh, that was it. That was his one way out. Then with his last action, probably of his life, he's going to cast shield. That's his turn, Soraya.
[00:20:46] Speaker B: Well, if there's still an invisible wall of force, there's not a whole lot I can do. So, I don't know, I'm assuming that the wall is, like, here. Like, right in front of him. And I don't have anything to my knowledge that will let me vamp to the other side. Like one talonous. Does anyone need a healing balm?
[00:21:05] Speaker C: I think Twintellen's not looking too hot.
[00:21:07] Speaker B: Well, he's also on the other side of the wall.
[00:21:09] Speaker A: Rob, roll me a d six, by the way. I'm sorry, Christine.
[00:21:13] Speaker B: No, that's fine. I'm just trying to figure out what to do. I've been, like, staring at my entire sheet.
[00:21:17] Speaker E: Five.
[00:21:19] Speaker B: I don't know if it picked up on the microphone, but I could hear it from here. That Shawn just sighed real deep.
[00:21:24] Speaker D: I don't know why. I mean, the 90 some odd damage I'm gonna do to him next turn is gonna be way worse than the five he just took.
[00:21:31] Speaker B: I mean, I guess I could, like, we already figured out what the demon things were. I guess I could try to recall knowledge on this guy or like, what he's doing to figure out what he might have to do with this. But everybody else is dead.
[00:21:42] Speaker A: You can also just delay if you want.
[00:21:44] Speaker B: Yeah, I guess I'll delay in the event that the wall comes down and he is still alive.
[00:21:48] Speaker A: All right. Ooh.
[00:21:49] Speaker F: Again, that walls up. There's nothing really much that we can do. I guess. Who's gonna be a something something and start looking around the room? Why not?
[00:21:58] Speaker A: All right, I will make a secret perception check for you.
[00:22:02] Speaker D: Well, thanks.
[00:22:04] Speaker A: You're welcome. This room seems empty outside of scorched marks of where the demons disappear.
[00:22:10] Speaker F: Alright, then. Welp, can't do much here. Guess I'll walk to the other room.
[00:22:16] Speaker A: All right.
[00:22:17] Speaker F: Can I walk in past Brianna through the hallway to the other room?
[00:22:20] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:22:21] Speaker F: All right. That's where I'm gonna go.
[00:22:22] Speaker C: Makes sense.
[00:22:23] Speaker A: There are a bunch of people tied up in here. Stevedores, if you will. And two bodies of scarlet triad members.
[00:22:32] Speaker F: What are stevedores?
[00:22:34] Speaker A: Dock workers. I had to look it up too. That's the only reason I know what it is.
[00:22:38] Speaker F: Hey. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Look at all these people who want to be saved. And look at me. I'm their only savior. I mean, I'm really nothing. But I guess I am right now because everyone else is worried about something else. Oh, lord, what will I do? Guess I'll leave it liberating for somebody else. I'm gonna leave there. Start walking down the hall. Okay, I think that's the end of my turn.
[00:23:03] Speaker A: All right. Knife. Sword. It is your turn.
[00:23:05] Speaker E: That guy still alive back there?
[00:23:07] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:23:07] Speaker E: Gotta finish them off. Let me see.
[00:23:09] Speaker A: Throw another fireball.
[00:23:10] Speaker E: I could. Gravity while I'm into the invisible wall.
[00:23:13] Speaker D: I think you get a lot of people doing that.
[00:23:15] Speaker E: Well, that's the whole point of gravity well, is to grab as many people as possible.
[00:23:18] Speaker B: Okay, but when you say it like that.
[00:23:20] Speaker D: When you say, also, that wouldn't work because he's immobilized by your tentacles.
[00:23:24] Speaker E: Oh, I'm really running on fumes here, guys.
[00:23:27] Speaker B: Sorry. I'm just also imagining, like, he does crash gravity well, and it just, like, yanks the tentacles like a ferro fluid.
[00:23:33] Speaker C: Oh, no.
[00:23:34] Speaker B: Oh, geez.
[00:23:34] Speaker F: Is this a concentrated effort? Like, do you have to be in the room in order to watch the tentacles to continue?
[00:23:40] Speaker D: No, but he can cancel them at any time.
[00:23:42] Speaker F: Guess you might want to go back.
[00:23:43] Speaker D: To the things on your board out of character. I would really appreciate if you would just wait until my turn is over, because I'm next, so it doesn't hurt me to have the tentacles in place. It actually helps me because he's immobilized and I can stab him better. But once that's done and he's dead, I would like to not get murdered by tentacles if it's all the same to everybody else. Also, I got to figure out how the fuck to get out of this wall of forest because I don't know if it's going to go when he dies.
[00:24:07] Speaker B: I mean, usually cast, it affects will.
[00:24:10] Speaker E: All right, I'm just gonna hold my action.
[00:24:11] Speaker A: Okay. Twin Talon.
[00:24:13] Speaker D: All right, so I'm gonna stab him.
[00:24:16] Speaker C: Checks out.
[00:24:16] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:24:17] Speaker D: Sounds like a thing I'd do. He's flat footed.
[00:24:19] Speaker A: Make a flat check.
[00:24:20] Speaker D: No, it's not a manipulate action.
[00:24:22] Speaker A: Damn it.
[00:24:23] Speaker D: I want to cast. Stab.
[00:24:26] Speaker A: Well, that's a hit.
[00:24:27] Speaker D: That's a hit. You know what? I'm gonna get greedy. I'm gonna use one of my hero points, so I should have three at this point. So I'm gonna use one of them.
[00:24:34] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:24:35] Speaker E: Two.
[00:24:36] Speaker D: To reroll.
[00:24:37] Speaker A: Hoping for higher than a six.
[00:24:39] Speaker D: So it's a 35 to hit.
[00:24:41] Speaker A: That's a crit.
[00:24:42] Speaker D: There we go. 41 momentum. You get a two circumstance bonus to all attack rolls until the end of your next turn. Great.
[00:24:51] Speaker A: Like you need.
[00:24:52] Speaker D: That certainly can hurt. Let's see if he's alive. So normal damage would be 38. So that's 76. Is he still alive?
[00:25:02] Speaker A: Please describe your kill.
[00:25:04] Speaker D: Yeah, tantallon just in, a puff of smoke appears and just stabs him really quick. Twice, once in each lung and watches him collapse on the ground or go.
[00:25:13] Speaker B: Limp in the grasp of tentacles.
[00:25:14] Speaker D: And I'll be like, knife, sword. Please, please stop.
Actually, with my third action, because it's important to my body, I'm going to try to get out of the tentacles because that's the thing that you can do if you're trapped by them. They're just gonna try to grab me again, but I'm hoping they'll miss. Actually, no, because if I just take the damage, it's one d six. If I get out and then they get me again, it's three d six. Oh, never mind. Just punch me once more, and then I'm gonna ask you to please stop at the tentacles. Please.
[00:25:41] Speaker C: Wait, hang on. Where are you?
[00:25:43] Speaker D: I'm very far away.
[00:25:44] Speaker A: All right, Rob, roll one d six, one. So, Matt, you take one more point of damage.
[00:25:49] Speaker D: Thank you.
[00:25:50] Speaker C: He was gonna offer to librate you, but, uh, you know.
[00:25:53] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm, like, 30ft away.
[00:25:55] Speaker A: And with that, combat is over.
[00:25:58] Speaker D: So, Rob, is knife shark gonna drop the tentacles or are you just gonna wander off?
[00:26:01] Speaker E: Well, I didn't get another turn. I don't know how I'm gonna drop it.
[00:26:04] Speaker C: Robert.
[00:26:07] Speaker A: In 48 seconds, it goes away.
[00:26:10] Speaker E: I'll drop it.
[00:26:11] Speaker A: All right.
[00:26:12] Speaker D: Yeah. In less than a minute, the wall, the force drops as well. Cause it only lasts a minute.
[00:26:16] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly.
[00:26:17] Speaker D: Which twin? Dalton doesn't know, but he probably is probing at it for a while before it just disappears and he, like, stumbles forward.
[00:26:23] Speaker A: You're putting all your weight on it, and then it goes and you stumble forward.
[00:26:26] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm looking for a weak spot.
[00:26:27] Speaker A: Fairly bloodied, actually.
I did okay with that.
[00:26:31] Speaker D: Yeah, my pizza is more than half eaten.
[00:26:34] Speaker A: Yeah, I did some damage.
[00:26:36] Speaker C: So if folks are doing things, Brianna is definitely gonna go over to her friend, since she did here.
[00:26:42] Speaker A: Ow.
[00:26:42] Speaker D: Ow.
[00:26:43] Speaker F: Damn it.
[00:26:43] Speaker D: Stop with the tentacles.
[00:26:45] Speaker B: Knife, sword.
[00:26:46] Speaker D: Stop it.
[00:26:47] Speaker A: Well, let's do this. Let's go in order. We'll start with Saraya. What would you like to do?
[00:26:54] Speaker B: I am going to start freeing the people in the next room. And going back to check on the ones that are in the other hallway.
[00:27:00] Speaker A: Okay, so the room where the scarlet trident members are dead.
[00:27:04] Speaker B: Yeah. Across the hall for now. We'll start there because they're the.
[00:27:06] Speaker C: Right here.
[00:27:07] Speaker A: Okay. All right, so you head across the hall and start untying captured people. Hiya. Brianna's gonna go in and start dealing with twin talons. Terribly beaten up body. Now. I looked up something, and we've been doing. Shockingly, we've been doing something wrong that.
[00:27:24] Speaker D: Seems not like us at all.
[00:27:26] Speaker A: I know. When you make your healing check, Haya, you have to declare at what level you're rolling at.
[00:27:33] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:27:34] Speaker A: And if you miss that level, you don't get to go to the lower levels, unfortunately.
[00:27:39] Speaker C: That's lame.
[00:27:40] Speaker D: I would like to say that while I agree that's the rule, it doesn't make sense with the reason that you get it.
[00:27:46] Speaker A: Really does.
[00:27:47] Speaker D: She's so good at healing. She could heal more, but that's. I don't know, it just feels weird that, like, I could be good at this, but because I rolled, you know, above what I really needed, but below what I was shooting for. I can't put this band aid on you anymore. It's just. I don't disagree that you're doing it by the rules, Sean. And I'm happy to follow the rules, but I feel like it's counter.
[00:28:08] Speaker A: But you'll do it in protest.
[00:28:09] Speaker D: I understand putting it out there.
[00:28:11] Speaker A: No, I get you. I get you. I kind of agree as well. But let's do it by the rules for at least this episode, and then we can go back to forgetting the rules.
[00:28:19] Speaker F: We can go back to house rules.
[00:28:20] Speaker C: Yeah, exactly.
[00:28:21] Speaker A: Yeah, we can. You know what? I agree. Let's house rule that. So if you miss it, you can do the step immediately below it.
[00:28:27] Speaker C: Okay. Super advice. Versa. If I shoot above the lower one for whatever reason.
[00:28:33] Speaker A: Well, if you decide to go for the lower one, then you get the crit of the lower one.
[00:28:37] Speaker C: Yep.
[00:28:38] Speaker A: And if you critically fail, you do triple damage. Got it?
[00:28:41] Speaker C: Got it. I like it. Ready, Twintellen?
[00:28:44] Speaker D: Uh huh. What?
[00:28:46] Speaker A: Natural one.
[00:28:48] Speaker C: I am scared.
[00:28:50] Speaker D: This is what hero points are for.
[00:28:51] Speaker A: Okay, so Brianna will be healing Twintalen. Ooh. What are you going to do? You are slightly tired as your rage wears off.
[00:29:01] Speaker F: Still excited by the excitement of all the fighting. I'm gonna wander my way down to the southeast corridor, and I'm gonna start bashing on some doors down there.
[00:29:11] Speaker A: Okay, sounds good to me. I'll need you to make a athletics check to bash down a door.
[00:29:19] Speaker F: We'll go to the north.
[00:29:20] Speaker A: Twintalon isn't really gonna move because he's being healed.
[00:29:23] Speaker D: While I'm being healed, could I, like, rifle through the desk or check out this guy's pockets? Or am I not allowed to do that?
[00:29:29] Speaker A: Yeah, you're not supposed to be doing anything while you're being healed.
[00:29:32] Speaker D: Okay, that's fine.
[00:29:33] Speaker A: And then knife, sword. What are you doing?
[00:29:36] Speaker E: So, while Twintalon's being healed, can I rifle through his pockets or go through his things?
[00:29:40] Speaker D: My things. My pockets?
[00:29:42] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely.
[00:29:44] Speaker C: He's so mean.
[00:29:47] Speaker A: If you would prefer, you can search the room and see if there's any fun, cool stuff in there.
[00:29:52] Speaker E: All right, I'll do that.
[00:29:53] Speaker A: All right, well, I'll make a private, secret roll to let you know what you find. Christine, you don't have to do anything because you are just untying. Haya, if you can roll a medicine check. And, Heidi, if you can roll an athletics check, please.
[00:30:08] Speaker E: Yep.
[00:30:09] Speaker A: Hiya. What did you roll?
[00:30:10] Speaker C: I rolled a 32. So I critically succeeded.
[00:30:13] Speaker A: All right, so that is four d, eight, plus ten healing.
[00:30:18] Speaker C: You get 33 points of healing back.
[00:30:20] Speaker D: Nice. Thank you.
[00:30:21] Speaker A: Okay, knife, sword. As you look around this room and rifle through the body of this person name, you find the following things. You find a strange key on his belt loop. A. Okay, this is a dumb question. What's a thurible?
[00:30:42] Speaker D: It's a sensor, like, a thing that you put incense in. Like, you wave it on a chain.
[00:30:47] Speaker A: Okay, cool. Oh, that makes sense. With his image, you see that wrapped around his belt? And he dropped a book.
[00:30:55] Speaker E: Ooh, can I read it? Like, is it a language I know?
[00:30:57] Speaker A: Let's see what languages you know. You know a surprisingly large number of languages.
[00:31:02] Speaker E: There's a big brain on a tiny body here.
[00:31:04] Speaker D: It's a giant head.
[00:31:06] Speaker A: No, you do not know the language.
[00:31:10] Speaker E: All right, well, I'll put it in my bag for later.
[00:31:12] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:31:13] Speaker E: I'll hit the key. I've got an idea. With the key, I could try to id the key.
[00:31:16] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:31:17] Speaker A: So I put it in the chat for you. So you should be able to pick one of those skills and roll it. And there's a second one. That's the thurible. Okay, so you recognize, after you look at it, you realize that this is a skeleton key. This is a greater skeleton key.
[00:31:34] Speaker E: Okay?
[00:31:34] Speaker A: A grinning skull tops the bow of this macabre key. This key can be used in the place of thieves tools when attempting to pick a lock, and it grants a two item bonus to your thievery check if the skeleton key becomes broken due to a critical failure on the check, it works as normal thieves tools and loses the benefit until it's repaired. Also, once per hour, if you attempt to pick a lock but haven't rolled yet, you can use an interact action, and the key will cast a knock on it for you.
[00:32:06] Speaker E: Oh, and that's once per hour.
[00:32:08] Speaker A: Once per hour.
[00:32:09] Speaker E: I can use knock once per hour. That's pretty cool.
[00:32:11] Speaker A: Yeah, because it's greater. If it was the lesser it would be once a day.
[00:32:15] Speaker E: All right, I will take that key, and I'm gonna put that in my pocket, and I'll put the book in my bag to look at later once we get somewhere where we can relax.
[00:32:23] Speaker A: Okay. And go ahead and roll for the thurbal.
[00:32:26] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:32:27] Speaker A: Don't know what that is.
[00:32:28] Speaker E: I'm gonna go see if I can find ticket and find Saraya.
[00:32:30] Speaker A: Okay, sounds good. Ooh. What did you roll on your beat the door down roll?
[00:32:36] Speaker F: Uh, athletics check was a 27.
[00:32:38] Speaker A: 27. The door splinters open. Are you going to the north or the south?
[00:32:44] Speaker F: To the north, please.
[00:32:45] Speaker A: As you splinter the door to the north, you see six beds with bed sheets that have been torn and slowly started to be braided.
[00:32:56] Speaker F: Cool. I guess I'll walk in and look under the beds. Come here. Don't worry. I killed all the baddies. Hello.
[00:33:06] Speaker A: Okay, so as you peek under the bed, you see six halflings.
[00:33:12] Speaker F: They just see this big green face.
[00:33:15] Speaker A: Yeah. At first they look scared, and then they realize that you're not one of the scarlet triad members. And a quite robust looking halfling pops out, smiles and says, hello.
[00:33:29] Speaker F: So y'all were not very inconspicuously trying to escape, I can tell. If you just walk out this way and just hang out in the main area right there. I got some friends who will help you out. Just stay right there, though, all right?
[00:33:43] Speaker A: Yes. Thank you for saving us.
[00:33:46] Speaker F: Don't mention it. No, really, don't mention it.
[00:33:49] Speaker A: This halfling has kind of a karen haircut, sparkling brown eyes, a wide smile, kind of a green tunic, and, like, a leather jerkin over top of it. And the other five halflings look a little bit worse for wear, but not as bad as some of the other people that you've seen. Saraya, you managed to untie the captured stevedores here, and they're thanking you so much and asking if you have any food, as they've been starved for about two weeks.
[00:34:21] Speaker C: Jeez.
[00:34:22] Speaker B: She'll fish out whatever rations she has and offer them, caution them, you know, like, no, eat it slowly, especially if you haven't recently or you'll just throw it all up again. Little bites. Chew them well.
[00:34:33] Speaker A: They nod and you see them like visibly trying to hold themselves back from just attacking it. But they listen to what you say and they go slowly.
[00:34:42] Speaker B: Are they also halflings or.
[00:34:44] Speaker A: No, they're humans, actually.
[00:34:46] Speaker B: Okay, while you're eating, do you know what, other than keeping you all captive here, what they were trying to do?
[00:34:52] Speaker A: We stole us from or doctor from the sunset imports and they were using us to mine some rocks or talking about moving us somewhere. It was very hard as they would come in here very consistently and start beating us, they say through their mouths of food.
[00:35:12] Speaker B: So you used to work for sunset imports? That's where they abducted you from? They had you mining when you weren't here?
[00:35:17] Speaker A: Yeah, because we're so strong. But they then thought we were too strong and they thought we might take them out. So they decided to put us up here and try and weaken us.
[00:35:30] Speaker B: Noted. Do you know if there are any more of you? Is there any missing from the group that was abducted? I know there are still other rooms here with captives.
[00:35:38] Speaker A: Yeah, there's about five more of us somewhere. We're not too sure.
[00:35:42] Speaker B: Okay, well, you sit here for now. Recover and we'll see if we can gather everyone up and send you all home at once.
[00:35:48] Speaker A: Thank you.
[00:35:49] Speaker B: Just nods for this search to like pat their heads like children.
[00:35:54] Speaker A: I just shared with you all the image of the man who was beardy McCaster. His body now lies on the floor between Brianna and twin Talon. Knife, sword. You bump into Saraya as she is talking to the people out there.
[00:36:08] Speaker B: Hello. Knife, sword.
[00:36:09] Speaker A: Hello.
[00:36:10] Speaker E: Um, I found this thingy. He shoves the thurible. Did I say it?
[00:36:15] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:36:15] Speaker E: He shoves the thurible at her.
[00:36:17] Speaker B: Alright. Do you know what it is?
[00:36:19] Speaker E: No.
[00:36:19] Speaker B: Wonderful.
[00:36:20] Speaker E: I think it's explosive.
[00:36:21] Speaker A: You look at this and immediately know what it is because you critically succeeded.
[00:36:25] Speaker B: Oh sweet.
[00:36:26] Speaker A: This is called a thurible of revelation. Moderate.
[00:36:31] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:36:32] Speaker A: This brass censor dangles on a length of chain. Most thoribles of revelation are adorned with swirling celestial text. Though some are iron and feature infernal or abyssal text. This one features infernal text for two interact actions and incense worth at least five gold. You can light the incense inside the sensor and it burns for 1 hour. During that time, as long as you are holding the thurible, you gain a two item bonus to religion checks and any critical failures you roll. When decipher writing of a religious nature is a failure. Instead, once per day, when you activate the thurible, you can increase its revelations. During the activation, you can hold the thurible up to your eye with an interact action and gain the effects of see invisibility for one round.
[00:37:20] Speaker C: Oh, that is pretty cool.
[00:37:22] Speaker A: So that's what it is.
[00:37:24] Speaker B: All right, well, I can't. I can't read it. Unfortunately, it's not one of the languages that I speak, but it does have a number of other useful properties about it. I'm not sure what Brianna would think if we decide to keep our hands on it, but it is a useful little piece.
[00:37:37] Speaker D: Ooh.
[00:37:37] Speaker B: And she'll gesture for knife sword to come follow her and go look for ooh, because I know ooh speaks many languages.
[00:37:43] Speaker A: Knife sword. The writing on the thuroval is the same as what's in the book.
[00:37:47] Speaker E: Okay, I'm gonna follow her.
[00:37:48] Speaker A: All right. You see? Ooh. Gesturing and releasing some halflings that are now standing in the middle of the center room.
[00:37:55] Speaker B: Oh, hello.
[00:37:56] Speaker F: I found all these little babies here for you because I don't want to be responsible for them.
[00:38:03] Speaker B: Well, there's some that are a little closer to our sized in the other room as well. And I'm gonna look at the. The one that seems a little more aware and resilient, just. You wouldn't happen to be the proprietress of the long road's coffee house, would you?
[00:38:14] Speaker A: You see her beam? Ah, yes. I am Laria Longroad.
[00:38:18] Speaker B: Lovely to meet you. We did find your assistant, one of your employees, but she's. She's in safe hands now. And we've cleared out that space as well. We may need a little repair, but it's no longer in the hands of the Scarlet triad.
[00:38:28] Speaker A: Oh, excellent. Okay, so before we go into some role play with her, I want to just check and see if there's anything else anyone wants to do for the rest of the room.
[00:38:38] Speaker B: I mean, release anybody in the other rooms.
[00:38:41] Speaker E: Get my golem down the stairs.
[00:38:43] Speaker A: Okay, so you find the rest of the stevedores, you release the woman that is chained up next to the dead body, and Laria thanks you, and you all head down. She insists that you come to the coffee house, and she will explain to you what is going on and offer you a place to rest if you need to.
[00:39:03] Speaker B: Is this the top floor? Are we done?
[00:39:05] Speaker A: Yeah, this is the top floor.
[00:39:06] Speaker B: Cool. I am not opposed to a good cup of tea and a good night's sleep.
[00:39:12] Speaker A: She smiles. You all head back to the long roads coffee house.
[00:39:16] Speaker D: Before we leave, can I ask her, do you know about someone named Laslyn?
[00:39:20] Speaker A: I've heard of the name. I don't know who that is, though. There was a kalashite man here who kept talking and saying, we need to take these to Laslyn, but that's. That's about all I've heard of them.
[00:39:32] Speaker D: Mm hmm. Doesn't know anything about Laslyn. Do you know where he was talking about taking whatever to Laslyn?
[00:39:38] Speaker A: Yes. Let's. Let's head to the coffee house, and I will explain everything.
[00:39:42] Speaker D: Okay, great.
[00:39:43] Speaker A: We've been cooped up here for long enough.
[00:39:45] Speaker F: Let's get that treasure, though.
[00:39:47] Speaker A: Gotta get that booty.
[00:39:49] Speaker F: Do we find anything on those bodies, though?
[00:39:51] Speaker A: Yeah, you find a plus one flail, three javelins, a chainmail. Manacles average marked with the symbol of scarlet triad and keys to the manacles.
[00:40:04] Speaker D: On both of the dwarves.
[00:40:05] Speaker A: Yep. And then on beardy McCasterface, you find a dagger, a one striking morning star, plus one explorer's clothes. Good. Manacles marked with the symbol of the scarlet triad and keys to the manacles. I've added all of those to your group loop.
[00:40:24] Speaker B: All right, thank you. Well, while we're heading back, I will show oo the censor and ask if she can read it.
[00:40:29] Speaker A: Okay. And she can.
[00:40:31] Speaker F: Oh, look at that. It's so shiny. I do.
[00:40:35] Speaker A: We'll cover all of that in a moment. So you head back to the long roads coffee house. Laria reunites with her employee, who is crying. And you see Elianda throw her arms around Laria with a big hug and just a sigh of relief. And you hear her say, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to give you away. And Laria goes, it's all right. Everything is fine now. Let's get these folks some nice tea or coffee, whatever they'd like. And then I have some things to discuss with them. And Elianda runs off to do that. Laria looks at you and goes, okay, so we have. There's a bunch of our friends and family, family who have been taken by the Scarlet Triad to someplace called the quarry. My only assumption is that it is summer shade granite quarry that is one of several quarries in the meander mountains in southern Ravnul owned by the Gehalto family. And the Gehaltros administer a town called White Rock, about 45 miles south of Contago, along the banks of the Jobless River. I recall that the jarls operate several quarries in the south, but this one specifically, they close down for some reason or another. We would really hope you could go investigate there to see if you can find the rest of our family. I can write you a letter to meet with Canton Jaltero. He's the baron. I will make sure that everyone who is with me gets home safely and with food in their stomachs. That's all I know. Do you have any questions for me?
[00:42:15] Speaker F: Where did you say the summer shade granite quarry was?
[00:42:18] Speaker A: What town? It's in the southern ravenule by the Mander mountains. It is right outside of White Rock.
[00:42:26] Speaker F: All right.
[00:42:26] Speaker B: That sound familiar to you?
[00:42:28] Speaker A: Just then, there's an awkward sound of falling outside, like someone tripping upstairs.
[00:42:35] Speaker C: Oh, dear.
[00:42:36] Speaker A: And then in walks a very confused, very awkward looking Jasper.
Welcome back.
[00:42:45] Speaker B: Did anyone ever come back to the school? Yes, just now.
[00:42:48] Speaker A: Yes, I've been looking for you.
[00:42:51] Speaker B: You can speak better than that.
[00:42:53] Speaker A: They ran to the south and they lost them along a road. And he looks very pleased with himself for being able to communicate all that.
[00:43:05] Speaker B: He has speech as an ability. He can speak?
[00:43:07] Speaker A: I don't know about that.
[00:43:09] Speaker D: He just did.
[00:43:09] Speaker B: I meant, you know, like, better than toddler level.
[00:43:12] Speaker D: What's his intelligence score?
[00:43:14] Speaker B: It's actually pretty good, I think.
[00:43:16] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:43:17] Speaker B: His stats are nothing to sneeze at. All right. I think. Well, we haven't mastered drinking yet. We should tell him to turn back and offer him a mug to sip out of his crow form.
[00:43:27] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:43:28] Speaker B: Yeah, so I don't think he actually has straight up attribute scores, but all of his skills have double digit bonuses, so.
[00:43:34] Speaker A: So do you have any other questions for Laria?
[00:43:37] Speaker D: Where's that trapdoor go? It'll point to the one in the southeast of the coffee house that leads.
[00:43:42] Speaker A: A little bit outside of the walls of the town here towards Cypress point. Uh, we use that in case of emergencies. I was able to usher a bunch of guests out of it when we were attacked. Unfortunately, I was not among the ones who got out, but. Okay.
[00:43:59] Speaker F: Now, there was some blood that was over by the ladder that was heading upstairs. I don't think I recall. We didn't find out who it came from. Was that during the scuffle with you, or did that come from somebody else?
[00:44:12] Speaker A: That was probably from the creatures that were here that attacked us.
[00:44:17] Speaker F: Who attacked you, exactly?
[00:44:19] Speaker A: The scarlet triad and Rakshasas.
[00:44:21] Speaker F: All right, just making sure.
[00:44:23] Speaker C: Pat.
[00:44:24] Speaker B: Ooh's arm. Thank you for being so diligent.
[00:44:27] Speaker F: I blush.
[00:44:29] Speaker A: Now.
[00:44:29] Speaker F: I think there were some shiny things that I had to read. Something. Something infernal.
[00:44:34] Speaker D: Oh, yes.
[00:44:34] Speaker B: Here, I'll show her this answer. The thurible, as it were.
[00:44:38] Speaker A: Yeah. You see that? There are some prayers to Asmodeus, dealing with praising him and his demons. It's more, uh, decorative than, you know, casty or anything like that.
[00:44:51] Speaker F: They're praising some our deus Mozart over here. I'm not really sure what that's about, but that's fine.
[00:44:58] Speaker B: So we could. We could probably just buff it out and not really have it displaying that kind of thing. Just keep it for its usefulness.
[00:45:04] Speaker F: Yes, yes, yes, yes.
[00:45:07] Speaker B: Lovely. All right. Unless anybody else really wants it, she'll keep that.
[00:45:11] Speaker D: What is it, the sensor?
[00:45:12] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:45:13] Speaker E: So I'm assuming I'm with them. No.
[00:45:15] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:45:15] Speaker E: So when I see oo reading it, I whip out the book and say, hey, this had some similar scratches in it, and hand it over.
[00:45:22] Speaker A: So I need you to roll a DC 24 crafting check.
[00:45:29] Speaker F: We are in trouble, kids. How about a 13?
[00:45:34] Speaker A: Nope. You can read that. It is infernal, but it makes no sense to you.
[00:45:39] Speaker F: I'm sorry, guys. This is some infernal that I just don't understand.
[00:45:43] Speaker A: Does anyone else speak infernal?
[00:45:44] Speaker C: No, but I'm gonna keep healing twin talons.
[00:45:46] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:45:47] Speaker D: And if I can read while I'm being healed, then. Twintalen speaks infernal?
[00:45:51] Speaker A: Yes, sure. Give me a crafting check.
[00:45:54] Speaker D: 30 to the crafting check.
[00:45:55] Speaker A: That is enough. So this, as you read it, is called extraplanar registry. Anyone who can read it can use this dedicated tome to gain a two bonus to recall knowledge about outside. But it has a greater value contained within its pages. And there are full details on the following three rituals. Commune, imprisonment, and planar. Ally commune is a level six ritual. You call upon an unknown plan or entity to answer questions. This is a servitor of your deity. If you have one and uses religion, you can ask up to seven questions that could be answered with yes or no. The entity is likely to know answers related to its purview. A servitor of Gozora would likely know about unnatural weather patterns, whereas a servitor of Desno would likely know of someone's travel route.
[00:46:50] Speaker D: What if you don't have a deity?
[00:46:51] Speaker A: Then you cannot use it. Okay, you can assist, but you couldn't be the lead of the ritual.
[00:46:58] Speaker D: Got it.
[00:46:59] Speaker A: The next one is imprisonment, which is a 8th level ritual. You perform a ritual to imprison a creature in one of several forms. While some versions of this ritual offer all of the forms, others include only a single form or only a few of them. Whichever you use, the effect can't be countered. Though it can be ended by freedom. Some forms of imprisonment can be ended by other means. Because this ritual requires the target to remain within 10ft at all time typically requires you to subdue your target first. And lastly is planar ally, which is a fifth level ritual. You call upon your deity to grant you aid in the form of a divine servitor of your deities choice of a level no greater than double. Planar allies spell level while explaining what sort of assistant you need and why you need it. The task. If the task is incredibly fitting to your deity, the GM could rule that your check is automatically a critical success. If the ritual succeeds, you must offer the servitor payment depending on factors such as duration and danger of the task.
[00:47:57] Speaker D: Okay, I actually already knew plainer ally. We have that from another a book we found. I don't understand how imprisonment works because you have to subdue them and then it takes a day to cast, so you just have to like punch them in the back of the head for a whole day. Just keep them unconscious, but. Okay, so I'll flee through it while Brianna is tending to twin Talon's wound. So be like. Well, I mean, it's a series of rituals seem to be contacting or imprisoning extraplanar creatures. So calling one from an ally or asking a question of one or, you know, imprisoning one. I guess that's why he had the book. Because he was summoning devils, right? He was summoning Val's direct, so maybe that's what it was about. Is there anything else in here other than just these rituals?
[00:48:39] Speaker A: There are several pages of notes written in infernal, not only detailing the owner's plans to besmirch the Nadali's diplomats with propaganda, but also explain how the rakshas managed to, quote, draw upon the latent traumas of the city and quote, to manifest undead shades of Brezali. It is clear that Barucha is impressed with his occult magic, even if he doesn't quite understand how the Rakshasas managed it.
[00:49:08] Speaker D: Okay, well, it seems that the rakshasas that we found upstairs are the ones that summon those aspects of the brassier guy who used to be the lord mayor of the town or whatever. Does it say, like, why he's doing this? Because in my understanding, like, he had summoned Valstrax, which is what Nadal summons. So is there a reason, like this whole thing, like, was very set up via the scarlet triad to, it seemed like to tank the negotiations that were happening on between Nidal and where we are, Contargo. But this guy had the velstreck. So was he Nidalese or was he like, what's his deal? Do we, do we get that from the book at all or.
[00:49:45] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. He was summoning and using them to besmirch the diplomats with propaganda. He was also a member of the scarlet triad.
[00:49:54] Speaker D: Okay, so is this something that we could give to our diplomat friend to maybe help him out?
[00:49:59] Speaker A: You could. Or you could also give it to the silver council, which is the leadership here, which would also, you know, help them, like, be like, oh, all of this wasn't from Dahl. But yes, you could do both.
[00:50:10] Speaker F: Let's do both.
[00:50:11] Speaker B: Yeah, we can, like, call a meeting with both of them at once.
[00:50:14] Speaker D: Okay. I just meant that we already had a relationship with him. And also we could maybe be like, hey, just remember this later because maybe we're gonna need something later on. Remember, we're your friends.
[00:50:25] Speaker F: I guess it's like, who do we want to go to first? Do we want to go see our friend first? Let the diplomat first, or do we want to go to the silver council first?
[00:50:35] Speaker D: I don't know.
[00:50:35] Speaker A: Well, what if we do this, I'm gonna assume all of your characters rest for the night, and I think that we all should rest for a week and come back and do this again.
[00:50:46] Speaker D: Before we rest, could we like, do other stuff like Briana repairing her shield or, you know, me filling all of the holes in my body that were made?
[00:50:54] Speaker C: That'd be very lovely.
[00:50:55] Speaker A: Well, I'm gonna assume at 831 at night on the 29th of Rova. Yes. You can still pat yourselves up and Brianna can take care of her wounds or her weapons and whatnot. Basically, I'm ending the episode and you guys are all going to heal, so.
[00:51:11] Speaker D: Great. Sounds good.
[00:51:13] Speaker A: All right, we'll see you next week.
[00:51:14] Speaker B: Bye bye.
