[00:00:58] Speaker A: Well, I'm in my mid thirties, and I'm already getting AARP mailers, so I don't know what that says. [00:01:05] Speaker B: I just want to let you know. Also, on his last birthday, he immediately called himself 45, not 35. So that's a jump, right? [00:01:15] Speaker A: Look, last birthday was a quarantine. Birthday time has no meaning anymore. When we last left you guys, you had dealt with a pillar and came to a new area, and you found a pulsing red light and a large worm, dragon like creature just chilling in front, looking at you. [00:01:46] Speaker D: It's huge. [00:01:48] Speaker A: It is huge. [00:01:49] Speaker C: Everything is huge. [00:01:51] Speaker D: Oh, I think he means because he's small. [00:01:54] Speaker E: Point, point. [00:01:55] Speaker A: So just to remind you, a crumbling stone temple juts out from where the forest has grown around it. Sinister towers partially collapsed. But once carved into the shapes of grimacing dragons, provide support for the cracked walls. A flickering red light pulses within the hollow of the central ruined tower. And in front, you see this coiled dragon worm thing, huge. Peek its head up and look at. [00:02:28] Speaker F: You and say, lunch has been delivered. [00:02:34] Speaker C: Lunch. [00:02:35] Speaker D: You can call me Doordash. Cause I'm bringing the pain. No, that's not. [00:02:42] Speaker C: I can really go for some lunch. [00:02:44] Speaker D: Delivering the pain. I don't know. There's something there. [00:02:47] Speaker B: I mean, I think that was pretty great. [00:02:49] Speaker E: Yeah, I thought it was pretty good, too. There's no need to workshop that. Blow out the tongue. Anyway, so I'm very sad that pond watcher isn't here to finally be like, aha. An actual dragon other than these little bite sized versions we keep running into. [00:03:07] Speaker D: So you say that, but when we get past this dragon, we're gonna find, like, his mother's halberd and its hoard point. Oh, no, I hope that's not true. But I feel like Shawn would do that to us. [00:03:18] Speaker E: It's true. Sean does enjoy playing with our emotions. [00:03:21] Speaker D: He's like, you have feelings. Look at them. Yeah, gross. [00:04:44] Speaker D: All right, I'm ready to be eaten now. [00:04:47] Speaker E: I wish I could animate this. [00:04:50] Speaker A: The creature slithers forward and bites off twin Talon's head. [00:04:56] Speaker E: No. [00:04:58] Speaker D: Solaroos. [00:05:00] Speaker B: Can I make an arcana check? Because we encountered, like, the weird spectral dahawk when we first came through the gate. [00:05:08] Speaker A: Yes, you may make an arcana check. Yeah. [00:05:11] Speaker D: Dragons are arcana, right? [00:05:12] Speaker A: Yep. [00:05:13] Speaker B: 33. [00:05:14] Speaker D: And you don't need to be trained, right? [00:05:16] Speaker A: You do not. But a 33 is more than enough to know what this is. [00:05:20] Speaker D: All right. [00:05:21] Speaker A: This is called a beta. [00:05:24] Speaker D: What? [00:05:25] Speaker A: A b I d a a b da. [00:05:44] Speaker C: The dragon. [00:05:51] Speaker A: Bettas are black scaled dragons with long serpentine bodies and bat like wings. Their legs and claws are smaller than those of most dragons, but their powerful undulating coils, like those of a boa constrictor, are potent weapons capable of squeezing the life from several unfortunate victims at a time. Ibita uses impressive intellect and powerful magic, pose as a human and infiltrate settlements. Over the course of weeks, months, it established itself as a key member of the village and only after has it become invaluable to the community does it reveal the terrible price of assistance. [00:08:28] Speaker A: So it's just sitting there looking at you as Zareya's encyclopedic knowledge just scrolls. [00:08:34] Speaker B: Through Rolodex stops on a beta. Um. I can try to intimidate it. I'm bad at that. [00:09:01] Speaker B: Do I have an idea of how good its hearing is? [00:09:04] Speaker E: I mean, we just had a whole conversation about size in front of it and it hasn't done anything. [00:09:10] Speaker B: Well, mostly I wanted to know if I can relay information to you without it here. Like, I don't think asking for a huddle. [00:09:17] Speaker E: Quick huddle up. [00:11:21] Speaker B: Okay, that knowledge story is just gonna. Oh, you poor, deluded thing. [00:11:28] Speaker A: Let's go around the table before anything happens. So, Brianna and Saraya are up chatting with this thing. [00:11:37] Speaker B: Mm hmm. I just. I did just call it deluded. [00:11:40] Speaker A: I know. I was just poking my head through, seeing, making sure nothing was like sneaking up behind us. [00:11:51] Speaker A: Give me a perception check from when you were moving around. [00:12:09] Speaker A: So as you sneak through this wall. Not even sneak as you walk through this hole in the wall in front of you, and I'm going to put little wiggly marks on the map. [00:12:19] Speaker D: Ooh, wigglies. [00:12:21] Speaker A: You see what looks like maybe furry legs in one of those marks? Maybe some frog legs in another mark. [00:12:32] Speaker D: As if they were dismembered. [00:12:35] Speaker A: As if something bit the top half of them off. [00:12:38] Speaker D: That's what I mean. It's not like there's a creature hiding there with both frog legs and furry legs. You're saying there's just legs littered about on this side? [00:12:45] Speaker A: Yeah. Okay, they looked armored. And with a 29 that you rolled, they kind of look like the. The armor that you've noticed most of the cinder claws wearing. [00:12:56] Speaker D: Okay, now I have a question. There's. Looks like there's two steps, and then there's a wall. Is that correct? [00:13:01] Speaker A: Yes. [00:13:02] Speaker D: Okay, just making sure there wasn't some weird. Because I know at the pit there was some weird sight issues. [00:13:07] Speaker A: Weird line of sight stuff. Let me double check. [00:13:11] Speaker D: Okay, so I can see kind of more back into the complex than I thought. [00:13:13] Speaker A: All right, I. Yeah, yeah, there is stairs. [00:13:16] Speaker D: Okay, that's a good. And I'm guessing where Christine's pointer is currently. Is it like a tower of some kind? [00:13:20] Speaker A: Yeah, that's, um, one of the. It actually looks like a. Not a dragon pillar that you've been seeing, but like a pillar that is carved in the shape of a dragon that has crumbled. Okay, you think that this used to be a very ornate temple of some kind? [00:13:38] Speaker D: Gotcha. [00:13:39] Speaker A: Judging from the. The filigrees and whatnot. But it's fallen into much ruin. [00:13:45] Speaker D: Okay, so I see the dragon pillar. That's cool. [00:13:48] Speaker A: Soraya, you just insulted this thing and it kind of says. [00:13:53] Speaker F: Enough. I will not have my lunch talk. [00:13:56] Speaker A: Back to me and we will start combat. Way to go, Saraya. [00:14:02] Speaker D: Look, good job. [00:14:03] Speaker B: We were gonna end up here anyway. We all knew it. [00:14:07] Speaker D: I love this version of Pathfinder. I rolled a 13 and my initiative is a 31. [00:14:13] Speaker B: Jesus Christ. Well, I'm not gonna get anywhere near that. Good. So let's see what I do. [00:14:19] Speaker A: Let's go through initiatives. Christine, what did you get? [00:14:25] Speaker B: 26. [00:14:26] Speaker A: All right. Hyah. [00:14:27] Speaker E: 27. [00:14:52] Speaker A: All right, so the other thing that triggers initiative being rolled is the fact that as twin Talon steps through the dragon pillar, can see him. And it shoots its load. Yep. [00:15:09] Speaker B: Right in your face. [00:15:10] Speaker E: 69 was last episode, guys. [00:15:13] Speaker D: Dang it. So much residual buildup. [00:15:18] Speaker B: Not even November. Twin Talon will begin to move. Then I will take. I gotta believe this. Got attack lobby. So I'm gonna take the step action to move 5ft and then I will attack it. All right, this is my plus one dragon bane dog slicer. And that's a natural 20. It's not really dragon bait but that. [00:17:00] Speaker A: Really is one a. Yeah, that will crit. [00:17:05] Speaker D: Oh good. [00:17:05] Speaker A: Go ahead and draw a crit card. [00:17:09] Speaker D: Cool, cool, cool, cool. [00:17:10] Speaker B: Good to know the rules of the game still apply. Finally got one that had improved grab. Yes. Brianna. [00:18:58] Speaker E: Can I liberate her now? [00:19:00] Speaker B: Nope. [00:19:02] Speaker E: Brianna will point her scimitar at this evildoer and say there is only one way this is going serpent and this is with your head on the ground. And she will ask Lady Surenre for aid in defeating this evildoer. As I enable smite evil, then she will turn to the tale that currently is constricting her good friend Serea. [00:19:33] Speaker D: So I don't. You can't attack its reach. What? But I'm curious if we look at archives of methods with grab, do you. It used to be you automatically pull somebody next to you when you grab them. I'm just curious if that's still the case. [00:19:47] Speaker A: Well, then let's use the old rule where Soraya gets pulled into. So Saraya got pulled into where it was. [00:19:56] Speaker E: Okay. First action was to enable Smite's second action. She will make her way over and for her. [00:20:04] Speaker A: And as you move into a threatened square, nothing happens. Right? [00:20:09] Speaker E: Because I haven't left it, you jerkin. [00:20:11] Speaker A: That's right. [00:20:12] Speaker D: That's not how attack opportunity works. [00:20:13] Speaker E: Yeah. Thanks for interrupting me again, Sean. And I will attack. For a 28 year old that will hit good. Take it. [00:20:22] Speaker D: And then once you take the damage, I would like to make a reaction. So that was a thing that just triggered. So Twintellen's gonna strike it and it's. [00:21:17] Speaker A: Flat footed cause you're flanking it. [00:21:19] Speaker D: What's flat footed to Brianna? Because we're flanking it. It's flat footed to me because anyone at all is threatening it. [00:21:24] Speaker E: Noise. [00:21:25] Speaker D: I love this game. 32 hit. And I can make the escape action using my unarmed attack modifier, which is actually not awful. I have a plus 15 to unarm attacks, so. [00:21:56] Speaker A: Versus its reflex. Okay. Reflex DC. [00:21:59] Speaker B: Is that what it. Oh, yeah. Cause it's using its body. Cause I was just reading. Typically, it says it's the athletics DC. [00:22:06] Speaker A: The creature probably knew. Oh, athletics. Well, then we'll use what it is. Athletics. [00:22:12] Speaker B: So I'm just gonna roll a d 20 plus 15. Cause I don't think I have an unarmed attack. 29. [00:22:18] Speaker A: 29. But if there is something there might be, might be worth taking out. [00:47:19] Speaker B: Do you want to literally circle around those three adjoining hexes at the bottom? Or do you want to go southwest and then up northwest twice? [00:47:28] Speaker D: I would go northwest, southwest, northwest, north and then southeast. [00:47:35] Speaker A: Nothing happens in the first hex to the northe west. [00:47:43] Speaker B: So the hicks do like walk to the side of the thing and then you. [00:47:48] Speaker A: Nothing happens here. Rinali makes a beautiful camp for you. You then move to the southwest. Right below, circling where the fortress is. You notice that it gets a little muddy around here. But again, nothing super exciting happens. Then you move to the northe west again, skirting the fortress. And here. [00:48:13] Speaker E: Oh boy. [00:48:14] Speaker A: As you enter this area, you've had two nights to rest. So everyone is happy and healthy in a good state. [00:48:25] Speaker D: Good, let's ruin that. [00:48:26] Speaker A: So if you're down, health. Yeah. You see swamp water. It is swamp water. [00:48:33] Speaker E: No, boy. [00:48:34] Speaker A: The jungle canopy clears a bit here, giving way to a swampy area of murky pools and twisting creek beds. A demolished campsite sprawls across an island in the shallow bog. You see three giant bird like creatures start to move towards you, cocking their heads left and write. They look at you, look at them, find out what happens next. [00:49:08] Speaker E: Good, good. [00:49:10] Speaker D: We'll have hero points. [00:49:11] Speaker E: So that's fucking dad and the birds got interrupted. Not me this time. Ha ha. [00:49:17] Speaker D: Yeah, suck it, birds.
