[00:00:43] Speaker A: Of the Cracked Die podcast. My name is Matt. I play twin Talon on the show and I hope you are all enjoying yourself with Pisocon online, which is going on through the 31st of this month. So if you haven't checked it out, get signed up for a game. If anything's left, get in there, meet some people, play some pathfinder. This is another episode where we recorded remotely online, so the sound quality is not as good as we would like it to be, but we're putting out new content. The story continues. We are not stopping. This train is going on all the way through this pandemic and we're doing it safely, so that's good. Lastly, we are going to be trying out something new. Many of you are familiar with Twitch. If you're not familiar with Twitch, it's a very cool service where you can watch other people play games or do crafts or whatever it is they want to do, and people watch and it's very cool and you get to interact with those streamers. The cracked die is going to throw its hat into the ring, as it were, at Twitch Tvcrackedie or Twitch tvthecrackeddy. If you go to Twitch tvthecrackedye on June 6, so not this weekend, but the weekend after. We will be streaming live from one till about five eastern time. A one shot with myself as the GM. We'll have Sean, he'll actually get to play something and he'll be at my mercy for once. Haya, who you all know and love, she'll be back. And we've got two new cast members that we're going to be rolling in there. So it's just a one shot. It's not an ongoing campaign, but we're going to check it out, see how you guys like it, see how you respond, see what other stuff we can put on there and get some more interaction with you, the fans. The podcast is great and we're not going to stop doing that, but it's hard to gauge sometimes how you guys react to it when we don't really interact directly. So Twitch is really nice. We get to do a thing and you get to respond in real time, and it's really great to interact with a fan base like that. And it's great for you. If you're watching, there's someone there doing a thing and you can respond to them and get a response back in real time. So our first one shot is going to be next Saturday, June 6, from 01:00 p.m. To 05:00 p.m.. Eastern time. Check us out. And now without further ado, episode 38 of the Cracked Die podcast the lion sleeps tonight. [00:03:20] Speaker B: Welcome to the 30 eigth episode of the Cracked Die podcast. Woohoo. All right, I was trying to think of something fun with the number 38 and I just, I couldn't sell when. [00:03:33] Speaker C: Spelled out in roman numerals is the last roman numeral in alphabetical order. [00:03:39] Speaker D: Well, that's a fun fact. [00:03:41] Speaker C: That hit X-V-I-I. [00:03:45] Speaker E: Wow. [00:03:49] Speaker B: So this has nothing to do with what we're going to go into, but I always have a hard time figuring out what Super bowl number it is because they're on the weird letters. Yeah. I'm like, L. What number is L? [00:04:04] Speaker D: Is L 50. Like when it was Super Bowl 50, it was just Super Bowl L. Super. [00:04:09] Speaker E: Bowl L. No, actually, so in Latin, l stands for lots of years. [00:04:16] Speaker D: There were lots of Super Bowls. [00:04:20] Speaker E: Yeah, we're up so high that it's not even worth counting anymore. [00:04:25] Speaker B: Okay, when we last left, you had all gotten to acrovel and you've been talking to a couple of the leaders of the higher ups. Not the leaders, but the higher ups of the leopard clan. You've been speaking with Jahassi and Niketia about things that have been going on with the cinder claws and you have started know, look around the city. A couple of you spoke with people. Twin Talon had played in a dancing game. And right as we left, twin Talon. [00:04:56] Speaker D: Slayed at a dancing game. [00:04:57] Speaker B: Yes, twin Talon slayed the dancing game. [00:05:00] Speaker C: I was the Channing tatum of that stepping. [00:05:05] Speaker D: Are we talking like magic Mike or like. [00:05:08] Speaker C: No, Channing Tatum was in step up, the dancer. [00:05:11] Speaker D: Pretty sure he was also in Magic Mike. [00:05:13] Speaker F: He was also in Magic Mike. [00:05:15] Speaker C: Okay, that's not where I was going. [00:05:16] Speaker E: With it, but mean people. [00:05:19] Speaker C: I was. [00:05:22] Speaker E: Going to say how sad I am that none of our characters saw that happen because I would never let that go ever. [00:05:29] Speaker D: Right. Like nobody was there for it. It's the saddest part. [00:05:32] Speaker F: I'm pretty sure that's why he was okay with doing it. [00:05:36] Speaker C: I wanted a local custom. [00:05:39] Speaker B: You did well, pond watcher decided to partake in a local custom, the hot pepper eating contest that he was slightly goaded into by a couple of youths. [00:05:54] Speaker E: In this town where the questions are hot and the wings are even hotter. [00:05:59] Speaker B: Yes, you found the one and only b dubs in Akraville. Anyway, so we're going to just jump in at this pepper eating contest. [00:06:12] Speaker E: Oh baby. [00:06:14] Speaker B: So they hand you the biggest and brightest pepper first. [00:06:19] Speaker F: Oh my God. [00:06:20] Speaker B: They kind of chuckle and they say in Elvin, this is the most mild of the peppers we have. There are four of each of the four peppers. You are going to be making a fortitude save. [00:06:33] Speaker E: Are you sure I can't make a yum yum check? [00:06:36] Speaker B: No yum yum check. [00:06:37] Speaker E: Oh, boy, he says in Elvin. Fortitude save. 22. [00:06:43] Speaker G: Nice, right? [00:06:44] Speaker B: This one is a little sweeter than you thought. [00:06:49] Speaker E: Sweet like a mother's milk. [00:06:51] Speaker B: It's pretty good. It's pretty good. The other three who are competing against you smile as they eat the first pepper. No problem. They're just down in an instant. [00:07:01] Speaker E: Bondwatch was a little worried by that, but he's not going to show it. Stoically stares at the next pepper. [00:07:07] Speaker B: They hand you the second one. This one is a bit more red and orange. [00:07:12] Speaker G: Tells you it's hotter. [00:07:13] Speaker B: It is a slightly bit hotter pepper. Go ahead and give me another fortitude check. [00:07:19] Speaker E: Ooh, 16. [00:07:21] Speaker B: And I'm rolling for them. Okay, so you are sickened one. [00:07:27] Speaker F: Oh, no. [00:07:29] Speaker B: Now you can keep going. If you ever get to sickened four, you're out. [00:07:34] Speaker E: I'm going to keep going. Are you kidding me? Yeah. [00:07:37] Speaker B: All right. So you notice that one of the young men who is also eating, you see sweat starting to beat across his forehead as this one catches him a little bit by surprise. [00:07:49] Speaker F: Oh, boy. [00:07:50] Speaker B: This next one is the only way I'm going to be able to describe it is fire engine red. It is about the size of your finger from the first knuckle to the second knuckle. It's very small, but just by smelling it, you can tell how spicy this is. [00:08:09] Speaker E: Deceptively dangerous. Looks into the eyes of the person who challenged him and just gulps it. [00:08:20] Speaker G: Nice. [00:08:21] Speaker E: 24. [00:08:23] Speaker B: For some reason, this one doesn't bother you nearly as much as the one before it did. [00:08:29] Speaker E: He just chews it like a dog, like staring wildly out of the corners of his eyes. [00:08:37] Speaker B: The kind of the middle of the three boys, the ones who's had the sweat beating across his face. You just start seeing tears pour down his eyes as he taps out and grabs a bottle of milk and starts to chug it. He's like, I can't do this anymore. I can't. This is too much for me. [00:08:57] Speaker E: Of course you're giving up. That's not what we do in the north. [00:09:00] Speaker B: All right. They hand you the fourth and final pepper calistria. [00:09:07] Speaker E: If ever there was a time to look down upon me, it is while I eat this spicy pepper in a spicy pepper challenge. [00:09:14] Speaker F: Come on, pound. [00:09:14] Speaker B: Watcher 20. [00:09:17] Speaker E: Okay, that is an eight on the die, by the way. [00:09:21] Speaker B: All right. [00:09:22] Speaker E: Wow, these are pretty bad rolls. [00:09:26] Speaker B: This one burns. This one like it hurts. You are now sickened, too. [00:09:31] Speaker F: Oh, no. [00:09:32] Speaker B: One of the other boys, he can't even keep it down. He has a reversal of fortune, as they call it, in competitive eating. And he's out. But the other boy, the one who initially challenged you, is still looking on strong. Give me a deception check. [00:09:50] Speaker E: Deception. A five. [00:09:54] Speaker B: All right. [00:09:54] Speaker D: He can tell you're a strong suit. [00:09:57] Speaker B: He can tell you're sweating. He opens his pack and pulls out the brightest, most fluorescent green looking pepper you have ever seen. You have never seen anything like this before. And there's only two. And he says, care to take a test with this one? [00:10:17] Speaker E: What's your name, friend? [00:10:19] Speaker B: My name is Mabembi. My mother is of the heart clan. [00:10:23] Speaker E: Well, you appear to have a strong heart indeed, but so do I. Give it to me now. [00:10:29] Speaker B: Oh, okay. Give me that roll. [00:10:34] Speaker E: Hey, 28. [00:10:35] Speaker C: Nice. [00:10:36] Speaker E: 20. [00:10:38] Speaker F: Fresh it. [00:10:39] Speaker B: This one, as you eat it, it burns all the way down. And you know, when this comes out, it's going to burn on that way, too. But you managed to stomach it. Not getting sick. [00:10:54] Speaker E: Worth it. [00:10:57] Speaker G: Pretty cried. [00:10:58] Speaker B: You see the boy who challenged you, like, he's not crying, but you know when you eat something so hot, like, water is just coming out of every pore, and you're both mutually sweating and snotting and tears are running out of your eyes, and he claps you on the back and smiles and laughs and goes, I guess what they say about the northerners are not all true. [00:11:20] Speaker E: I slap him on the back and then I rage. So the ice kind of comes into my pores and cools down my throat. We have tricks of our own, young man. [00:11:33] Speaker B: All right, so you manage to gain some more positive influence. The boy looks at you after wiping his hands and hands you some milk. As he's drinking, he goes, are you joining us on the hunt for the food later? [00:11:48] Speaker E: The what? Sure. [00:11:50] Speaker B: Oh, excellent. Since we do a feast for visitors, we always enjoy if people can come join us on the hunt. [00:11:57] Speaker E: Oh, no, that sounds awesome. Actually, perhaps some of my friends would like to come as well. [00:12:02] Speaker B: I believe it is happening soon. I'm going to. And you hear him burp and you smell the spices coming out of him. I'm going to go clean up, and then I will be at the hunt. I will see you there. [00:12:14] Speaker E: Sounds like a plan. Can you direct me to the nearest vomitorium, please? [00:12:21] Speaker B: He points to like, ye oldy outhouse in a tree. [00:12:26] Speaker E: Do nicely. [00:12:28] Speaker B: So you've all done your first set of actions. This has probably taken you all about an hour and a half to wander, to find these people, to perform, to play your games, to meet people. So you all see a group gathering. They look like the hunters from everything. They look like they're hunters. And if you know about the hunting party, you know that that's what's gathering. You can all meet there, or you can continue to wander around if hunting is not your thing. [00:12:55] Speaker F: Brianna did say that she was going to help with the hunt, so she will definitely head over that way. [00:13:02] Speaker D: I don't necessarily know if hunting is Serea's thing. [00:13:06] Speaker B: That's fine. If you stay in town, there's stuff for you to do. [00:13:10] Speaker D: She'll probably hang around top bore. Yeah. [00:13:13] Speaker B: And everyone else is hunting. [00:13:14] Speaker G: Temit actually, I think is a little thirsty and he's going to check to see if there's any type. Does he know if there's any type of establishment for drinks in this town? [00:13:23] Speaker B: Yes. It's not a makeshift bar. There's a tavern here. It's just in the trees. [00:13:29] Speaker G: Never been to a tree tavern before. I think that's what he's going to do. [00:13:33] Speaker C: Twin talon is interested in the animals that are around this area. So he would go hunting for no other reason than to just join the people who know that best and to get more information from them. [00:13:44] Speaker B: Great. So twin talon is going to go observe the hunt and see what animals are around. Brianna is going on the hunt. Pond watcher is going on the hunt to try and use this crossbow. What is Sareia going to do? [00:13:57] Speaker D: Any, like, apothecaries? [00:14:00] Speaker B: Yeah. You can definitely find someone who's making salves and bandages and that type of thing. [00:14:07] Speaker D: Yeah, sure. [00:14:08] Speaker B: All right, temid. [00:14:09] Speaker G: Yes? [00:14:10] Speaker B: You wander into this tavern. [00:14:12] Speaker G: Does this tavern look like, again, like. [00:14:14] Speaker B: Most of the buildings here, it is made up of wood and tree branches and leaves that have been draped around to make a beautiful hut. But it's a very large hut. There's a bunch of decorations on the wall of mostly flora and fauna. Actually, very few fauna. Mostly flora. Give me a perception check. [00:14:35] Speaker G: Right. One sec. Perception. [00:14:38] Speaker B: So the first thing you notice is that as you look around, none of the elves here are wearing any jewelry or anything like that. And very little gold or any ornate items. You haven't seen any of those around. Everything from the cups to the silverware isn't even silver. It's like all made of wood and natural or bone. [00:14:58] Speaker G: Interesting. [00:14:59] Speaker B: Also, you've noticed there's a lot of fish around and a lot of plants that seem to be consumed here, but very little actual meat. [00:15:09] Speaker G: It's like a pescatarian kind of lifestyle. [00:15:12] Speaker B: Yeah, you're getting that feeling. [00:15:14] Speaker C: Big fish. We're going to be hunting. [00:15:16] Speaker G: Yeah. Guys going on a boat. So temit just kind of looks around and kind of looks for an inviting place within the tavern maybe, where some people might be congregating or possibly even a single person that might be, looks like by themselves and could appreciate some company. Something where he would fit in. [00:15:37] Speaker B: Sure. So there's like two or three people in here. [00:15:40] Speaker G: Only two or three people total in here. [00:15:42] Speaker B: Yeah. You can guess that most of the people who would normally be in here at this time are prepping to go hunting. [00:15:48] Speaker G: Interesting. Okay, all the more for me then he says, I don't know, is there any one particular person that looks interesting or would he just want to saddle up at the bar by himself? [00:15:58] Speaker B: He might just saddle up to the bar. Okay. [00:16:00] Speaker G: He sits down and he kind of nods at the bartender. If there is one. [00:16:04] Speaker B: There is. It is an older man. Battle scars crisscross his face and body. [00:16:11] Speaker G: And he says, give me your most popular drink. [00:16:14] Speaker B: What language are you saying that in? [00:16:16] Speaker G: He doesn't know Elvin, so it would only be common. [00:16:19] Speaker B: Okay. The man looks at you strangely. [00:16:22] Speaker G: That's not going to work. [00:16:23] Speaker B: Well, maybe I should come with you. [00:16:26] Speaker G: He does the drinky drinky motion and then a big smiley face. [00:16:31] Speaker B: You see his eyes light up. He nods and he kind of limps back and gets you a mug. The mug is made out of wood and he fills it with a very light looking liquid. It is reddish in hue. And he puts it down in front. [00:16:49] Speaker G: Of you like a good red ill. And then, I don't know, I guess he pays a guy. How do they figure out how much he owes? I don't know how that's going to work either. [00:16:58] Speaker B: What do you do? [00:16:59] Speaker G: He pulls out a couple of silver. [00:17:02] Speaker B: You see the bartender, like, his eyes get big and he shakes his head and wait and gives the universal sign of, no, please don't. [00:17:09] Speaker G: And then, I don't know, he opens up his backpack and starts pulling out random little chotskies to see what he could use to barter. [00:17:16] Speaker B: So as you pull things out, you pull out a day's worth of rations. And the guy kind of looks and. [00:17:24] Speaker G: Nods, how much ale do I get for a day's worth of rations? Because that's a lot of food. [00:17:29] Speaker B: Oh, I'm aware. [00:17:30] Speaker G: Right. So he just kind of does the universal sign for keep them coming and gives them the rations and starts to. He takes a sip. What does he taste? [00:17:40] Speaker B: So it is a very subtle mix of very citrusy oranges as well as raspberries mixed together. And it's almost like a cider, but as you drink it, you feel it hits you a little bit harder than you were expecting for something so light looking. [00:18:03] Speaker G: Likes it, Mikey? He likes it. [00:18:08] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:18:09] Speaker G: So he takes a sip and he looks around to see if anyone else is possibly drinking something similar. Or to see if there's someone he can communicate with more easily. [00:18:21] Speaker B: There's one youngish, younger looking person who kind of walks up to you. Oh, there. And smiles. They sit down and they introduce themselves to you. Vimbai. [00:18:36] Speaker F: Want to spell it? [00:18:37] Speaker B: Vimbai? Okay. Checks out. [00:18:41] Speaker D: First time that's happened. [00:18:42] Speaker B: Pronouns, they, them. For Vimbai. Vimbai says in very broken common. I speak a little common. [00:18:51] Speaker G: So do I. A little bit more, actually. But I don't know. He's trying to be really friendly here. [00:18:55] Speaker B: So you and Vimbai start having a very lovely conversation. And Vimbai is translating to the bartender as you are all laughing and enjoying yourselves. [00:19:07] Speaker G: Temid does try to tell him some stories about what they've been up to and where they're from. But he obviously embellishes it a little bit. All right, he tells them the story of how pond watcher decapitated a full grown dragon and vomited in its head. Actually, no. Brianna decapitated a full grown dragon and then Pond watcher vomited in its head and then ate the head. [00:19:32] Speaker E: That tracks. [00:19:33] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:19:33] Speaker B: All right, soraya. [00:19:35] Speaker D: All right. [00:19:36] Speaker B: So as you're wandering towards the apothecary shop that Niketia has given you directions to, you come across a slightly pudgy Linus lying on the side of one of the higher branches and watching you. [00:19:50] Speaker D: Like a straighteners. [00:19:51] Speaker B: Like from lioness? [00:19:52] Speaker D: Yeah. Right. [00:19:54] Speaker B: Yes, Linus. You see, Linus from peanuts, lying in a tree. No. Lioness, female lion, male lion is just. [00:20:01] Speaker D: Staring at me from a tree. [00:20:03] Speaker B: Yes. Could you give me a nature roll check? Oh, fuck. Recall, knowledge, nature. [00:20:12] Speaker D: It ain't going to be pretty, but I can try. No, I just got a natural one. Can I use a hero point? [00:20:25] Speaker B: You can absolutely try that one again, because that is. [00:20:30] Speaker D: I have no boost to my nature there. Is there anything else that might work? Lovely. All right, hero point. Time. Let's see what I can learn. 19. Okay, I'll take that. [00:20:41] Speaker G: That's on the other end of the spectrum. Awesome. [00:20:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:20:44] Speaker D: Did I just flipped over. Just did. A 184 b. [00:20:48] Speaker B: So you know that lions are not usually jungle animals, nor are they known for living in trees. A couple of elves walk by you and they look, and they see that the lioness is staring at you. They look at you and an elven. They say she thinks she is a leopard. Her name is Harriet. [00:21:08] Speaker D: Harriet. [00:21:09] Speaker F: She's a spy. [00:21:13] Speaker D: How long has Harriet been here? [00:21:15] Speaker B: She's been here for a very long time. We are very fond of her, and she has a nose for knowing good people or bad people. [00:21:25] Speaker D: Interesting. What does she do if Jasper flaps over? [00:21:29] Speaker F: Oh, goodbye, Jasper. [00:21:30] Speaker B: She kind of looks up and does the cat huff. [00:21:34] Speaker D: That's it. If he, like, lands on her, he just kind of. [00:21:37] Speaker E: Yeah, the lazy ass lion in a. [00:21:41] Speaker D: Tree in a jungle. Yeah. [00:21:42] Speaker F: This isn't rather unusual. [00:21:44] Speaker D: Is there anything else you can tell me about Harriet? How did you learn her name? [00:21:47] Speaker B: Oh, we named her. The tribal leaders named her. [00:21:53] Speaker D: How is Harriet's name spelled? [00:21:55] Speaker B: H-A-R-R-I-E-T. All right. [00:22:00] Speaker D: That just not seemed to fit in with the theme of the other names. Interesting. [00:22:06] Speaker F: That's fair. [00:22:08] Speaker D: I'm going to address Harriet directly. You don't happen to be a shapeshifter of any kind, do you? [00:22:15] Speaker B: The lion looks at you and kind of starts to stand up. You're not trained in nature, right? [00:22:21] Speaker E: No. [00:22:23] Speaker B: Yeah. You're getting a feeling that you're probably not going to be able to win Harriet over. You probably need someone who's very good with nature to help you out on this. [00:22:34] Speaker D: I'm going to file away the knowledge of a lion hanging out into the trees and probably bring that up to twin Talon later, seeing as he's the one training the wargs. [00:22:46] Speaker B: All right. You make your way to the apothecary. [00:22:49] Speaker D: Okay. [00:22:50] Speaker B: All right, we're going to cut over to the rest of the group. Actually, we're going to cut over to silver. Silver is still in his hut. You see him muttering to himself. And you see him pull out of his bag a pot and starts time. And you see him start to make something. And then we cut over to the group. [00:23:12] Speaker F: Sean, it's uncanny. I thought Aaron was with us. [00:23:15] Speaker D: I know. [00:23:17] Speaker B: I've been doing a lot of editing lately. I've been guys a lot. All right, so this hunting party is gathering in the middle of the town center. You can spot the leader quite easily. The elf has striking hazel eyes and twists of dense, curly hair that fall around his head like a lion maid. Oh. He looks at you and greets you in common. I hear that you are coming with us. Interesting. We don't normally let outsiders come on such important things. [00:23:47] Speaker F: Well, your leader was quite kind to allow us to partake. And if we can be of any assistance, we would very much like to. [00:23:56] Speaker B: Our leader the twin leopards told you. [00:23:58] Speaker E: To come with Jahassi? Jahassi extended an invitation and so did a random teenager with a pepper. [00:24:09] Speaker B: Young. [00:24:09] Speaker C: Woman who was dancing. [00:24:11] Speaker E: His name was Mbembe and he loves peppers. And he said you needed some really good, powerful people to help you. [00:24:18] Speaker B: Of course he did. And of course Jahafsi would invite you. He's so trusting. [00:24:25] Speaker E: And you're not trusting, I take it? [00:24:28] Speaker B: I mean, with the Cinderclaw problem and the way I see most outsiders treat us, I am more cautious than Jahassi is. [00:24:38] Speaker E: That doesn't seem unreasonable, especially with all these Cinderclaw people around. I hope it doesn't bother you that I wear one of their smoking gauntlet things. But we killed a bunch of them and it's pretty cool, so I'm probably going to use it to kill some more of them. So you don't have anything to worry about from us. We're no friend to them. [00:24:59] Speaker B: Give me a diplomacy check. [00:25:01] Speaker E: Oh boy, here we go. Six. [00:25:06] Speaker G: Would anyone. [00:25:07] Speaker F: I'll assist if that's okay. [00:25:09] Speaker B: Okay. [00:25:11] Speaker F: Yeah, what he said. [00:25:13] Speaker E: We all talk like this now. [00:25:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:25:15] Speaker F: I mimic. Fuck me. Never mind. [00:25:18] Speaker B: One with your bonus of ten gives you an eleven. [00:25:22] Speaker F: God, I'm telling you, these digital dice just really dislike me. [00:25:27] Speaker B: He doesn't say anything, he just kind of looks around and makes a signal. And everyone readys up and they climb their way down the trees. They lower a ladder so you guys can climb down. [00:25:41] Speaker C: Would not use the ladder if they do not use the ladder. [00:25:44] Speaker B: Okay. [00:25:44] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:25:45] Speaker B: So to go to hunt, it's going to take a couple of hours to do the hunt. It takes three steps. You have to seek the animals, you have to position the hunters and then you have to hunt the animals. To seek the animals, you must help the elven hunters. So you have to help the elven hunters seek animals out. You need to make a nature check or a perception check. [00:26:08] Speaker C: The DC the same for either? [00:26:10] Speaker B: Yes, the DC is the same. Now one person is going to act as the main and the other two can assist. [00:26:17] Speaker F: I think twin Talon, you're the strongest at both. [00:26:21] Speaker C: Probably the most perceptive of the three of us anyway. [00:26:24] Speaker E: Yeah, I mean I have a nine. [00:26:26] Speaker F: I have a seven. [00:26:27] Speaker C: Yeah, mine's ten. [00:26:28] Speaker E: Okay, what's your nature? I have seven nature. [00:26:31] Speaker C: I have eight in nature and I have a two. [00:26:33] Speaker F: So I'll of course be assisting. Nothing else. [00:26:37] Speaker E: Yeah, well, I mean, assisting is hard in this edition. [00:26:40] Speaker B: Yeah. So you need a 20 to assist and that will give you a plus one. [00:26:44] Speaker E: Let's do it. [00:26:45] Speaker B: All right, let's see what the digital dice have in store. [00:26:48] Speaker E: Oh, I got a natural 20. Goddamn. [00:26:50] Speaker B: Fuck. Yes, me too. All right, so I wasn't looking at the critical success conditions. I wasn't expecting that. [00:27:01] Speaker E: You see every animal in the world. [00:27:05] Speaker B: So as you are stalking through the jungles, you manage to find a potentially dangerous and large pack of red river boar. You also find signs of animals that are safer to hunt. If you wanted to continue searching for something else, you know, the boars will make an amazing feast. There is just a bit of, you know, that this could become potentially dangerous because they are ornery. [00:27:38] Speaker C: If twin Talon is leading this search, he's brought Pond watcher and brienna with him. He is not scared in the least of a pack of boars, plus the. [00:27:48] Speaker B: 20 or so hunters. And actually by finding this large group, the leader seems to be slightly impressed that you could find such a thing. [00:27:59] Speaker C: Doesn't know that I'm a dizzy princess. That's the thing. [00:28:03] Speaker B: So what this means is to position your hunters effectively. The DC will be higher unless you want to search for safer game. [00:28:12] Speaker E: Well, we get the feeling that these people are proficient hunters who do this all the time. Right? [00:28:18] Speaker B: These are proficient hunters. You can tell that. Give me just a straight up perception, a basic perception check. [00:28:26] Speaker E: 20. [00:28:27] Speaker B: With your 20 perception, you can tell that this is not a group that hunts every day. They probably don't eat a lot of bigger game just because it is so much more dangerous. [00:28:39] Speaker E: Okay, no, that's important because I was just wondering if we should be worried about aggrowing a giant group of dangerous animals with these people or not care. [00:28:48] Speaker B: They live here and they know how to hunt. [00:28:50] Speaker E: They'll all be fine. [00:28:52] Speaker B: Yeah. Now to position everyone, you need to make a stealth check. [00:28:58] Speaker C: I'm good at that. [00:29:00] Speaker B: Once again, one person makes the main roll and others assist. [00:29:06] Speaker E: Two. [00:29:07] Speaker C: I got a 15. [00:29:08] Speaker E: I rolled a five and got a 15. No, listen, just stand over there. Go over there. [00:29:14] Speaker B: Now is anyone using hero points? [00:29:17] Speaker C: What do we think the consequence of us not getting this correct is going to be? [00:29:21] Speaker B: Well, depending on what happens, if you alert the game to your location, it could attack you. [00:29:28] Speaker E: I mean, what else are we going to use it for? You might as well use it, twin Talon. [00:29:31] Speaker C: Sure. I'll roll my stealth again with my hero point. [00:29:35] Speaker G: A little better. [00:29:36] Speaker C: Enough but I mean, if it kills. [00:29:38] Speaker E: Them all, we could probably just leave. [00:29:41] Speaker G: It's true. But I also feel like Twin Talon is probably going to kill him on his second attack now rather than his first attack. [00:29:46] Speaker E: That's true. I guess it's just a matter of if it gores a bunch of people. [00:29:49] Speaker C: To death before we kill him, it's distracted by them. I can get behind the boars so this could work out in our favor. [00:29:56] Speaker E: Elvin, shield wall. [00:29:59] Speaker B: So you're a little bit louder and clumsy and you see the boars kind of look at you. So now we hunt. [00:30:06] Speaker C: Town's going to give them that, like chin up. Like, hey, what's up? [00:30:08] Speaker G: Just waved at them like, hey, guys. [00:30:10] Speaker E: Sup, boars? [00:30:11] Speaker B: So each player, each person can attempt a survival check to hunt them. [00:30:18] Speaker E: Okay, group again. [00:30:19] Speaker C: Or are we doing it individually? [00:30:21] Speaker B: You can individually or you can assist. [00:30:24] Speaker E: I think it makes more sense to do it individually. [00:30:26] Speaker B: All right. [00:30:28] Speaker E: Unless you disagree. Twin Talon, agree with you. All right, I'm going to raise my crossbow and hope for the best. Oh boy. 13. [00:30:37] Speaker C: All right, 14. We both rolled sixes. [00:30:40] Speaker B: All right, let's see what Brianna does. She rolled a seven. Does anyone have. Well, everyone got a hero point to start the game. [00:30:50] Speaker E: Yeah, I'll use mine. I'll use mine. Okay, 13 again. [00:30:55] Speaker C: Same thing. [00:30:56] Speaker B: All right, let's see what's meant to be. Brianna gets natural. 20. [00:31:02] Speaker E: All right. [00:31:03] Speaker C: Brianna is the MVP. [00:31:04] Speaker E: She just throws her scimitar like into a boar from like 50 yards. [00:31:08] Speaker B: Yeah. So you manage to take down the boars quickly and quite painlessly, showing them some mercy. You have caught your food for the feast and you all head back to town. [00:31:23] Speaker E: Do they seem like they're okay with how that went? Know they're a little miffed. [00:31:29] Speaker B: The leader seems to be much more chatty with you on the way back. And feel free to ask him questions. [00:31:35] Speaker E: Yeah, I would be like an elvin. I'd be like, so what's your name? I don't think we ever asked you before. [00:31:43] Speaker B: Name is Akosa. A-K-O-S. Akosa of the hot clan. My mother is of the river clan. [00:31:50] Speaker C: Does he say he's of the hot clan? [00:31:52] Speaker B: Hawk. [00:31:53] Speaker C: H-A-W. Oh, that's different. [00:31:54] Speaker E: He's not from the Channing Tatum clan like me. Well, Okotso, that was fun. Thank you for allowing us to accompany you. We appreciate being able to help with the festivities. We don't normally get fetted by people that we meet, mostly thrown out of bars and shot with arrows and stuff like that. [00:32:16] Speaker B: I understand that. I've had a rougher time with outsiders than normal. [00:32:22] Speaker E: Sorry to hear that. Is it people from where we are from or someone else? [00:32:27] Speaker B: You ever heard of Whitebridge station? No, I don't feel like talking about it very much, but it's a former outpost of some evil people that used to enslave elves like us and make them mine gold in brutal conditions. [00:32:44] Speaker E: Wow, that sounds horrible. I'm sorry. [00:32:46] Speaker B: So I'm sure you can understand my hesitancy. People like Jahasi and Nikharia haven't had to deal with such things. [00:32:53] Speaker E: Yes, no, I understand. I've had my own fair share of run in with rival tribes in the tundra, but never so much something so sickening as slavery. I apologize if that's something that you have experience with. Our taskmasters where I'm from were mostly dragon king, and I did not take well to that. Let me tell you. [00:33:16] Speaker B: What. Here, hunting the Cinder claws? [00:33:20] Speaker E: Yeah. Well, we're all kind of trying to stop them, but personally, anything involved with dragons is something I wish to snub out. [00:33:29] Speaker B: Just good to hear. The cinder claws have been a problem here. [00:33:32] Speaker E: They're pretty much only the only reason we're here. I mean, we found them and we're fighting them, and then found out they came in through a magical gate or something, and we just walked through it, and we ended up in basically our town. We had no idea that that was what was going to happen, but, yeah, no, they've been causing trouble trying to kill our friends on the other side. [00:33:53] Speaker B: Posse got his full neck cut open fighting them. You see him kind of smirk in a loving smile. He then shakes his head. But an attack force at large. We should have seen them coming. Maybe we missed them. Maybe someone was helping them. Couldn't say. [00:34:09] Speaker E: Yeah, there were quite a few of them, but, I mean, they're very small, like little monkeys and frog people, so who knows? [00:34:16] Speaker B: Yes. With that, he looks at you. He says, when we get back to town, I have something for. [00:34:23] Speaker E: Ooh, somewhere teme just, like, pokes his head out of a hut. Hey, that's very nice of you. Thank you. Maybe we could give you a gift in return. [00:34:35] Speaker B: Oh, no, that is not necessary. [00:34:37] Speaker E: Not even a bar of soap that I have. [00:34:41] Speaker B: So, you all make it back to the town, and you make your way back up into the treetops. The jahasi and Nikeria are very impressed with what you have brought back. This is a spectacular find. Everyone's a little bit worse for wear, but overall, it was a very successful hunt. With that, you all disperse and you can meet up wherever you'd like. [00:35:07] Speaker E: Did they give us info about what the details for the feast were? [00:35:11] Speaker B: Yes. At sundown, the middle area of the town will become a large party celebration and that you should probably be there at sundown. [00:35:21] Speaker E: Well, personally, I think after kind of saying goodbye to twin Talon and Brienna and the others, Podwatcher will probably continue looking for a bar, which is what he was doing when he was waylaid by a party of pepper wielding hooligans. So I don't know if he can find Temit's bar or not, but that's what he would be doing to prep pre game before this ceremony. [00:35:44] Speaker G: Well, you can find it because a ferocious laughter is coming out of one of the bars. [00:35:48] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. But as you go to leave, Akosa says, pond watcher Akosa, please take this, this bow. He hands you a bow, and it's beautiful. It is made out of the most exquisite wood you have ever seen. There is beautiful shading and snakes carved in the top. And he goes, I swore to kill every one of my captors with this bow. However, I would like to pass this along to you, for I find a kinship with you and your dragon hunt, as I do with me hunting those people who captured me. If you swear to me that you vow to eliminate both the cinder claws that hurt jahasi and the dragons. [00:36:30] Speaker E: This is yours, Akosa. Wow. I don't know what to say. This is truly a gift fit for a king. I swear. I swear I will do my utmost to use this in my battle with the cinder claws and any and all evil dragons that live in this world. And I will strive to live up to the memory of your vengeance you had against your captors. [00:36:52] Speaker B: What he has handed you is a plus. One striking longbow. [00:36:57] Speaker E: Oh, shit. Going to throw this crossbow in the nearest trash can. [00:37:02] Speaker B: So then you manage to make your way to the only tavern that is here. But it is also being filled with uproarious laughter as you hear temid speaking. Yeah. [00:37:14] Speaker G: So then he's like. And then they thought he was a talking about twin talon. [00:37:24] Speaker B: So you guys are. All. The three of you are now in the bar. Sareia, you don't drink very often, do you? [00:37:31] Speaker D: Not really. [00:37:32] Speaker B: A couple sips of this mead cider that they give you. It's delicious, but it is very potent. [00:37:41] Speaker D: Lovely. [00:37:41] Speaker F: Oh, tasty. [00:37:42] Speaker D: Sareia. [00:37:43] Speaker F: I'm coming. I can't wait to see this. [00:37:46] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. Drunk Surreya is going to be a good time. Jasper is also definitely drinking out of her mug, too. He's probably currently on his back on the bar, grasping with his little feet in the air. [00:38:01] Speaker F: Oh, my gosh. [00:38:02] Speaker D: She's just like little birdie. [00:38:04] Speaker G: Look at you, a little skin birdie. [00:38:09] Speaker D: My little homo. I love. [00:38:15] Speaker B: So you all meet up in the tavern that is becoming roarously excited and happy that everyone is here. [00:38:22] Speaker E: I show everyone my new magical longbow. [00:38:25] Speaker B: Yes. Pond Watcher now has a beautiful new longbow. [00:38:29] Speaker F: Oh, where'd you get that? Or I was there. [00:38:32] Speaker E: Never mind, you were there. [00:38:33] Speaker D: It's so pretty. [00:38:36] Speaker E: Look, Sarah, it has snakes all over it. [00:38:40] Speaker F: Snakes? [00:38:42] Speaker E: Hey, your bird is drunk. [00:38:46] Speaker D: She's like all flush. She's got a drink in her hand. She's very happy right now. [00:38:53] Speaker F: Oh. Okay. Looks like we have to catch up. [00:38:59] Speaker G: Then temit starts introducing the crew towns or the tavern folk. He's like, this is the one that vomited in the dragons. This is the one that chopped the dragon's head off. This is the ghost. [00:39:12] Speaker D: Somehow she's still speaking perfect Elvin, but she's not necessarily translating accurately. [00:39:22] Speaker C: Made of toast. I don't think that's what he said. [00:39:27] Speaker G: It's funny how toast and ghost rhyme in both common, and Elvin. [00:39:35] Speaker F: Checks out. [00:39:36] Speaker B: So with that, a few minutes later, once you've all met up and started talking again, Niketia shows up and says, the twin leopards would like to meet with you. [00:39:47] Speaker E: Oh, wish we had known that before we got very drunk. [00:39:51] Speaker C: Take us to your leaders. [00:39:54] Speaker E: Damn it. Cast that spell that makes us not drunk. Quick. [00:39:57] Speaker G: I have a spell that does that. [00:39:58] Speaker E: I just assumed. You're always drinking and drunk. So you're a cleric. I mean, come on. [00:40:04] Speaker G: He cast divine Lance, and excited. [00:40:10] Speaker B: Aketia leads you around the town carefully, near a lot of railings so you guys don't fall off. And you find yourself standing in front of an empty platform made from woven tree branches. There are two people sitting on the raised platform. We are osi panin and ocatu, of the leopard clan. Our mother is of the heart clan. OC Patton wears a patterned green dress and copper jewelry studded with uncut gems, while ocatu wears a dark blue tunic covered with amulets wrapped in copper and green cloth. Both of them wear black leather sandals decorated with copper amulets and have long hair arranged in thick lots. They look at you and they ask you, what are you doing here? [00:40:58] Speaker C: Through a portal. And your group was there. And now we're here. [00:41:02] Speaker B: But why are you here? [00:41:04] Speaker F: Are they speaking common or Elvin? [00:41:06] Speaker B: They're speaking Moangi. And Niketia is translating for them. Okay? Because otherwise, before you guys answer, I want you to think really hard for a no. And then we'll come back here. [00:41:22] Speaker E: We're on vacation. Spring break. [00:41:27] Speaker A: Thank you for listening to the Crackdye podcast.
