[00:01:06] Speaker A: Water drips from the roof of the cave, adding painfully small amounts of water to the muck around the sluice gate. The cries of trapped victims echo throughout the cavern.
There, sitting on her bed, pale gnome.
[00:01:24] Speaker B: It's, uh, it's quite warm in here.
[00:01:28] Speaker A: The gnome quips as the gnoll slowly trods back and forth on the wicker mat she keeps in here.
Yes, it was warm, but no warmer than that of her home of cadavesh. Ah, home.
She did miss it greatly, the pride she had hunting down a caravan. The white canyon cave she called home.
This. This, however, was not home. This stinking quarry where she was now doomed to spend most of her time.
Sure, her cunning and wit had impressed the leaders of the triad, but after all she had done, expanding their collection efforts to areas like Absalom, Islam, and Cheliaks, and, of course, the one that took the most effort. The dark lands.
Improving the money brought in and the quality of the merchandise, you would think that she would be compensated better and placed in a better, more comfortable spot. No, they had left her here to rot until Ravno was completely under her paw.
That damn bellflower network had been a thorn in her side for far, far too long.
Any day now, her planning would come to fruition, and the attacks against them would begin.
However, right now, she had more pressing things to worry about.
The gnome had shown up, and that meant her backup plans were working better than she could have ever imagined.
[00:03:06] Speaker B: So you see, we will be removing some of the minder hall worship in the next room with the sluice gate, and began putting in some glounder iconography. That way, the Agatha clan we are bringing you because you asked for them, will feel better and be more willing to work under your authority.
Does that make sense to you? Laslin?
[00:03:29] Speaker A: Las Lynn.
Laslyn.
[00:03:33] Speaker B: Are you even paying attention to me? This is the father's orders. Yes.
[00:03:39] Speaker A: Yes, I am.
[00:03:40] Speaker B: It sounds wonderful, but Laslin didn't care.
[00:03:43] Speaker A: Yes, having the aberrations around provided her.
[00:03:46] Speaker B: With more defenses and an escape plan.
[00:03:49] Speaker A: Just in case something were to go wrong. And if she needed a way out. But what were the chances of that happening? Yes, she had gotten wind of some disruption to her work in Cypress point, but no one there knew where she would be living. If you could even call this living. Of all the time, she had restarted her life.
The failed assault on soul coup that her tribe joined and was decimated at.
Setani not trusting her and throwing her overboard, thinking that she would drown.
This restart had given her the most, the most prestigious position in a group the most gold, so much that she could even leave the triad at any time and live far beyond what anyone in her tribe had ever done.
Soon, she thought, I'm getting on in my years and would like to end my days living in the lap of luxury.
Maybe. Maybe take a few of these prisoners that I have and have them work for me in my palace in Katapesh.
Yes, that would be good. Just a few more days here in this cave and I can leave.
[00:05:08] Speaker B: Good. So the father will be delivering you an entire clan of Oogathol tomorrow. Once they arrive, they will do as you ask. However, you will need to let them.
[00:05:21] Speaker A: Eat, the gnome tells Laslyn.
And how protel do I do that?
[00:05:29] Speaker B: Well, they like live food, so you may be forced to grab one or two of those prisoners and let them be eaten. However, I will warn you, you don't want to be in the room when they eat. Seeing that proboscis go into the throat of a victim turns even the most steeled stomach.
[00:05:52] Speaker A: Thank you for the warning.
With that, the gnome hops off the bed and begins to walk away. As she reaches the doorway, she turns around and smirks.
[00:06:02] Speaker B: Just a few more days, Laslyn. Then we can all leave this place much, much wealthier.
