[00:00:38] Speaker A: Welcome to the 111th episode of the Crack Die podcast and the last for these characters. [00:00:44] Speaker B: You said that last time I was saying that. [00:00:46] Speaker A: Yeah, I know. But I'm now looking at stats for this monster and where you guys are, and it's. This is. This is probably one of the most dangerous fights you guys have had since the. The hags, honestly. [00:01:00] Speaker C: Yeah, but they survived the hags, so. [00:01:03] Speaker A: Barely. [00:01:04] Speaker D: Barely. [00:01:04] Speaker A: Barely. [00:01:05] Speaker E: Yeah, we survived. We survived the hags, thanks to Saraya critting and the crit being that it, like, made one of them immaterial. [00:01:14] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:01:15] Speaker E: Which allowed me to run through it. Wake up. Knife, sword. Who was the only one that could do, like, real damage to it, and then he blasted her with magic missiles until she was dead. [00:01:23] Speaker A: I. Well, hopefully, Matt, this crit that you get to draw will do something similar. But before you do that, no pressure. [00:01:33] Speaker E: Yeah. What's up? [00:01:34] Speaker A: Let's just recap what. What's been going on here. You guys met with Noly Peltry, the super secret leader of the Bellflower network. The Bellflower network, again, is a abolitionist group. You came up to this hill to send signals to the rest of the bellflower network because Hundi Voscht had been tortured into giving up secret locations. As soon as you guys got up here and started flying your kites to send the signals, this creature appeared out of nowhere, yelling and exclaiming for the umbral lord. Now you are engrossed in a combat because this creature grabbed a civilian, ripped it in Twain, and has been doing a lot of damage to twin Talon at this point. [00:02:30] Speaker B: Cleft it in twain. [00:02:31] Speaker A: Yes. All right, all right. Let's get down to it. What does your crit card say? [00:02:39] Speaker E: My crit card says firm piercing. [00:02:42] Speaker B: The what? [00:02:43] Speaker E: Crit. The target drops one weapon. It's holding. Okay, so it does double damage, and it. It drops its spear. I assume that's the only. [00:02:52] Speaker A: Yeah, it's only holding a long spear, so it'll drop its long spear. [00:02:56] Speaker E: Cool. So 60 damage. 60. [00:03:00] Speaker A: 60 damage. And what type of damage is this? [00:03:04] Speaker E: Cold iron piercing. Damage. [00:03:06] Speaker A: Cold iron piercing. Okay. Okay. So it takes damage. [00:03:13] Speaker E: It certainly does. [00:03:15] Speaker A: It does. [00:03:17] Speaker E: That wasn't even my turn. That was my reaction. [00:03:19] Speaker A: I know. It is now Nolly's turn. What would you like her to do? [00:03:25] Speaker E: Are all the kite flying done? [00:03:27] Speaker A: They're still up in the air. So she can still. [00:03:31] Speaker D: Do we know how many successes we need to. [00:03:34] Speaker A: You do know. [00:03:35] Speaker C: So have her keep doing it, I guess. [00:03:37] Speaker E: Yep. [00:03:37] Speaker A: Yep. I will let you know that you have achieved nine successes so far. [00:03:42] Speaker C: I mean, she would. She, since she's doing it herself, shouldn't. [00:03:45] Speaker E: She know when the message is sent? [00:03:48] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:03:49] Speaker A: Okay, that's, that's fair. All right, so Nollie will let go of the kites and she will move. [00:03:59] Speaker E: She gets herself fucking killed. I mean, man. [00:04:01] Speaker A: One. Action. Action. So she runs around to flank with twin Talon, and then she takes her hoe fo show attacks this creature. [00:04:17] Speaker E: Nice. [00:04:18] Speaker A: With a 19 on the die for a 42, which is a critical hit. [00:04:24] Speaker B: Yeah, girl. [00:04:26] Speaker E: Get it? Lady with a name. [00:04:29] Speaker A: This is a. What did he do? Bludgeoning. Yes. Target. Yeah. Box. The ear. The target is deafened until healed. So she basically like tees up this creature's head as it's reeling from being stunned. And she baseball bats it across the head. Nice for double damage. So she does. He does 42 points of damage. That's 40 points of physical and two points of chaotic damage. [00:05:05] Speaker E: Okay, wait, we don't know anything about this creature? Nevermind. [00:05:09] Speaker A: Nope. [00:05:09] Speaker E: All right, so depending on if it's a demon or a devil, since I thought it was like a fire demon, I think, but I don't think that's right. Or twin Talon thinks that anyway. I certainly don't. [00:05:20] Speaker A: All right, so that's her turn. Now it's the ice. Or whatever this is. [00:05:26] Speaker B: Whatever this is. [00:05:28] Speaker A: Whatever it is. Stunned four. So it is now stunned one. [00:05:35] Speaker B: We are ridiculous. And I love it. [00:05:37] Speaker A: That's its turn. The inner. What did you shoot at it? Knife? Sword. Innervate. [00:05:43] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:05:43] Speaker F: Yep. [00:05:44] Speaker A: Okay, so he deals eleven points of damage and it succeeds with a on it. With a 16 on the die. So it is no longer persistently the channel. Oh, dang it, Saraya. [00:05:58] Speaker D: I got a 27 religion to see what the hell this thing is. [00:06:02] Speaker A: That is enough. [00:06:06] Speaker B: What do I know? [00:06:07] Speaker A: This is called a. Oh my God. I'm not gonna pronounce this. [00:06:10] Speaker B: Type it out. [00:06:12] Speaker A: Gel. Gone. G e lithe u g o n. Also known as an ice devil. This is a lawful evil, large devil fiend. What would you like to know? You get one question. Okay. It is resistant to physical for ten points, except for silver. And it is resistant to poison for ten points. Its weaknesses are good for ten points. And it is immune to cold and fire. [00:06:51] Speaker D: Ooh, its immune to both. [00:06:52] Speaker A: Yep. [00:06:53] Speaker B: Okay, so no fire. Definitely for good. [00:06:57] Speaker D: Yeah. With my other two factions, im going to make and chuck an alignment ampule. [00:07:06] Speaker A: Okay. [00:07:07] Speaker B: For a 33. [00:07:08] Speaker D: 33 will hit so that it specifically does alignment damage. [00:07:15] Speaker A: Okay, so you're gonna do good, I'm assuming. [00:07:18] Speaker D: Okay, so it does one d four plus two splash and then it's whatever weakness it has. So whatever it's weakness value is too good. [00:07:25] Speaker A: So that's ten points plus whatever you roll. So it's gonna take 14 points of damage, all of together. [00:07:33] Speaker D: Okay. All right, the viewers. [00:07:35] Speaker A: Yeah. Considering how bad you guys, like, how bad this has been for you guys, like, knowing what it's weak to now is definitely gonna help you out. I thought I was gonna get one of you, but I think. I think you guys are gonna be good. It is now Brianna's turn. But before Brianna does anything, what are you gonna do? I would like you to make a free religion check for me, please. [00:07:57] Speaker B: I do. Okay. I did not roll too well with a 17. [00:08:06] Speaker A: Okay, now you may continue your turn. [00:08:09] Speaker B: Oh, okay. I guess I gleaned nothing. [00:08:13] Speaker A: Nope. [00:08:14] Speaker B: Okay. [00:08:14] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:08:15] Speaker B: Well, then with. I'm hoping that. Sorry. I did share the information she got from that. Yes. [00:08:22] Speaker D: Oh, yeah, absolutely. [00:08:24] Speaker B: So Riena says, you, foul creature, may serenre bless you and forgive you for all your transgressions as she smites evil. Which means that I can select one foe ic until the start of the next turn. My strikes with a weapon my bladed ally inhabits. Excuse me? Against the foe. Deal an extra four. Good, increasing to six if I have massive proficiency with this weapon. If the foe does not attack me this round, I can continue doing the smiting. So let's see what happens. [00:09:01] Speaker A: Whoosh. [00:09:02] Speaker B: How's it 31? [00:09:03] Speaker A: How's it hit? [00:09:04] Speaker B: Let's do it. So you take 21 points of damage. [00:09:10] Speaker A: Okay. And this is slashing, right? [00:09:12] Speaker B: Correct. Plus. And then an additional six good damage. [00:09:18] Speaker A: Oh. Which is 16. [00:09:20] Speaker B: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Okay, for my final action, um, how are you looking, twin Talon? [00:09:29] Speaker E: My pizza's not quite half eaten, but it's real close. [00:09:32] Speaker B: All right, Brianna will slap on a hello kitty. Staple bandage. Yep, staple. Anya, that's just medicine. Check again. [00:09:42] Speaker F: Right. [00:09:42] Speaker B: Like it? Um, I believe I speed. I do not. Critically. [00:09:47] Speaker E: Oh, no, it's not. I'm sorry. [00:09:48] Speaker B: Is it? [00:09:48] Speaker A: No, it is a regular success. [00:09:50] Speaker E: Two D, eight plus ten, I think. [00:09:52] Speaker A: Yep. [00:09:53] Speaker B: So you take 17 points of healing back. [00:09:56] Speaker E: Thank you much. [00:09:58] Speaker B: All right, that is my turn. [00:09:59] Speaker A: Twin Talon, it is your turn again. [00:10:01] Speaker E: So, yeah, I can't think of a better thing to do. This demon is flat footed. That is a natural one. So I'm gonna spend my hero, .2, reroll that 13 for 33 to hit. [00:10:16] Speaker A: That'll hit doing so well. [00:10:22] Speaker E: All right, so that's 26 points of bold, iron piercing damage. Okay, then Taysani will flappy flap in its face to aid me with whatever bonus Ollie gives us. [00:10:36] Speaker A: So if you get a success, it becomes a critical success. [00:10:38] Speaker E: Instead, she got a critical success. So there you go. [00:10:43] Speaker A: There you go. Yeah. [00:10:45] Speaker E: Second attack. That is a natural 20. [00:10:48] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. This is how we do it, Sean. [00:10:53] Speaker E: I'm surprised as everybody. All right. Especially you. So organ scramble, crit effect. The target is fatigued. Also triple damage. John, you okay? There he is. Okay. [00:11:07] Speaker A: So. Well, I had you. My clutches. [00:11:10] Speaker E: Oh, so clutches. All right, so that's 34 normally. So that would be. That's 102 damage. [00:11:23] Speaker A: Hang on. I have to reduce ten of that. [00:11:26] Speaker E: I feel. I feel better about losing ten when I do 102. That I do when I do 22. [00:11:32] Speaker A: So it's 92 points of damage. Right. Would you like to describe how you kill this creature? [00:11:38] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:11:40] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. [00:11:41] Speaker E: So Twintalon knocked its spear to the ground. Nolly ran around, whacked it in the back of the head. Brianna attacked it with some good damage. And when she did. So since we're next to each other, there was a slight opening in its carapace. And Twintalon took advantage of it, slipped his blade in and scrambled them organs. And as everyone knows, giant bugs, like regular bugs, have an exoskeleton, but no internal structure. So it's a whisk. Whisk on eggs in there. [00:12:14] Speaker B: This is science. [00:12:19] Speaker A: So mad. I'm so Madden. So just let me. Let me pull back the curtain a little bit for you guys. Sean, that was a yes. [00:12:28] Speaker E: Put some pants on if you're gonna pull the curtain back. Come on. [00:12:30] Speaker A: Nope. [00:12:30] Speaker E: Okay. [00:12:30] Speaker A: Not gonna happen. Can't stop me. [00:12:35] Speaker B: Can't stop. Won't stop. [00:12:36] Speaker A: Nope. So that was a level 13. [00:12:41] Speaker E: Wow. It felt it. [00:12:43] Speaker B: She's. [00:12:44] Speaker D: Yeah, dude. [00:12:45] Speaker A: And so that is three levels higher than your level means that is 120 xp that you get. [00:12:56] Speaker B: Woo. Nice. [00:12:59] Speaker A: Which means you're currently sitting at 880 xp. [00:13:05] Speaker E: 120 away from 11th level. Is that what you're saying? [00:13:07] Speaker A: I'm saying with that win Ui is level to a level eleven? [00:13:11] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:13:13] Speaker A: Oh, yes. [00:13:16] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. [00:13:17] Speaker A: So upset about that. [00:13:19] Speaker B: Why? [00:13:19] Speaker D: Why are you upset that your players are doing well? [00:13:22] Speaker B: Wow. Toxic. [00:13:24] Speaker D: Real. [00:13:27] Speaker B: The kids peak now, right? [00:13:28] Speaker A: Yep. [00:13:29] Speaker E: In touch with the kids. [00:13:31] Speaker A: So you're all level eleven now. This is actually a surprise for. For the players because you guys had no clue you were gonna get to a level eleven today. And I don't think you have a level eleven character, except for Matt, who's planned his character all the way up to level 27, which isn't even possible. [00:13:47] Speaker E: You gotta be prepared, man. [00:13:48] Speaker A: So I'm not actually gonna ask you guys, what you get yet? Because we won't know until you take some time to level. And I want to continue telling the story right now. Okay, so if you get into any combat things, I'm leveling you guys up on your character sheets to level eleven. So you won't have any of your new skills yet, but you will have the new hit points. If, while we're role playing, if you would like to see what you get, you can do that. Otherwise, we'll just take care of this off air and we'll get everyone leveled up after the fact. [00:14:23] Speaker E: We'll talk about next week. [00:14:24] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. [00:14:25] Speaker E: All right. [00:14:26] Speaker D: Sure. [00:14:26] Speaker A: Okay, so as this creature gets made into scrambled eggs, it falls down and it, in its dying gasp, you hear it say, nitto will win out. [00:14:46] Speaker B: Win ass. That's what I heard. [00:14:48] Speaker E: I heard I want a TPK before he died. I don't know what that means. Oh, very weird. [00:14:57] Speaker B: Super weird. [00:14:58] Speaker F: Oh, wait, we're out of combat, aren't we? [00:15:00] Speaker E: Correct. You can stop flying your kite now if you like. [00:15:06] Speaker B: So is there some. Oh, dear. I better go check on that. I was going to ask if there is some beef between Nidal and wherever we are. I don't know what's happening, but noli. [00:15:21] Speaker A: Looks at you and says, there's not so much of beef as much as we seceded from them. And when they left, or when we left, they lost a lot of money and resources. [00:15:35] Speaker B: Oh, dear. [00:15:35] Speaker A: So it's a tumultuous relationship at best. They are trying to send diplomats to negotiate with us, and a lot of people, as you probably saw, don't want any connection to them for obvious reasons. Nandal is known for having slavers and people in bondage for no reason, and we do not appreciate that. Here you see her kind of cock her head to the side. But what's really, really strange to me is the fact that they would call upon a devil to do this type of dirty work. That's not like them. [00:16:19] Speaker E: Why not? [00:16:20] Speaker D: Is it possible someone is trying to sabotage relations between Nidal and Kintarpa? [00:16:26] Speaker A: Possible. Oh, um. But they don't normally deal with devils. They generally work with valve strecks. [00:16:34] Speaker D: Precisely. There could be a third party at play here, attempting to frame them or otherwise inconvenience the work the two groups are trying to do. [00:16:42] Speaker E: Right. We've actually met a diplomat on the way here and it seems weird to think I. They would send a diplomat and at the same time send devils to terrorize the people in the streets. Like yelling about who they're working for? [00:16:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:16:55] Speaker E: It just seems like someone's trying to sabotage the negotiations. [00:16:57] Speaker A: It is very strange, but I don't know who would be interested in that. [00:17:03] Speaker B: Can we perhaps if we poke around this creature a bit more? [00:17:08] Speaker A: Sure. [00:17:08] Speaker E: I want to check out his bracelets. [00:17:10] Speaker B: There you go. I want to sense bullshit on Lolly just in case. [00:17:17] Speaker A: Okay. [00:17:17] Speaker B: Just crossing our eyes and dotting our t's. That's how English works, right? [00:17:23] Speaker D: Yep. [00:17:23] Speaker E: Yeah. If you cross your eyes, they'll stay that way, so. [00:17:27] Speaker B: Thanks, mom. [00:17:29] Speaker A: So mad at you, Matt. [00:17:30] Speaker E: Why? [00:17:31] Speaker A: Taking away a hero point. [00:17:35] Speaker D: Oh, no. [00:17:37] Speaker E: I don't even think I have a hero point. [00:17:38] Speaker A: You don't? [00:17:39] Speaker E: Okay. [00:17:42] Speaker A: Okay. So as you look at this creature, you notice that it had a spear. And it is a long spear. It is, actually, as you look into it, you see some runes etched on it. But other than that, it's just a bug carcass. [00:17:58] Speaker E: All right, I'll take the long spear and hold it out to knife, sword. Be like, what's this taste like? [00:18:04] Speaker F: Oh, 1 second. My tongue is sprained. [00:18:06] Speaker A: Oh. [00:18:10] Speaker E: He'll hold it out so that the runes are pointed toward. Nice words. Face. [00:18:20] Speaker F: Tangy. [00:18:21] Speaker A: Scared me. So as you taste it, it tastes like a little bit lesser from the plastic plus two rune that you found. [00:18:32] Speaker F: It's kind of tangy, a little spice. [00:18:35] Speaker A: But it does have that little, like, extra zest of a striking rune. [00:18:43] Speaker E: All right. Plus one striking lung spear. [00:18:45] Speaker A: Yes. I've put it into your. [00:18:47] Speaker E: In a bag. [00:18:48] Speaker A: But as you guys are looking around, the bracelets just seem to be accoutrement, not really depicting anything. They actually start to crumble as you look at them. As if a pact was fulfilled or no longer, the magic pertaining to that pact was no longer flowing through that, and they kind of crumble away into dust. [00:19:12] Speaker B: Can I make another religion check, or is it too late to do so? [00:19:16] Speaker A: You can make another religion check. [00:19:18] Speaker B: Right, I will. [00:19:20] Speaker A: Good. [00:19:21] Speaker E: Done. [00:19:22] Speaker A: As you guys are looking at the. The dead bug and finding the dead devil, I should say, I should actually come and looking around, you see that there is a portly halfling man standing nearby. And since you all did so well on the perception checks, I rolled for you. You can tell that he wants to come over and say something. But seeing Nollie there and seeing all of you and the dead bug creature, demon devil thing, like, he's obviously just very shy and, like, afraid to approach. [00:19:55] Speaker E: Okay, well, first things first. Are there any, like, blankets or rugs or anything nearby, like, in one of the stalls? [00:20:02] Speaker A: Uh, yeah, absolutely. [00:20:04] Speaker E: Okay, so twintal will go get a blanket or a rug and just throw it over the devil. [00:20:08] Speaker A: Okay. [00:20:09] Speaker D: Get a second one and put it over the split in half body. [00:20:13] Speaker A: Yes, that is a good idea. Also, when the creature showed up and ripped the creek, the person in half, everyone started to run away. So the fact that there is still someone hanging out over here looking like they want to say something is. There's not many people left up here. [00:20:28] Speaker D: It's fairly apparent that there's someone hovering. [00:20:30] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:20:31] Speaker E: So towel motion. [00:20:32] Speaker A: The guy over, he kind of approaches, takes off his little newsboy cap that he has. Kind of. Kind of reminds you of, like, I don't know if we were gonna say an actor or something like that. Like Sean Astin in Lord of the Rings. Kind of. Kind of a Sam. Yeah, samwise gam g esque looking halfling. [00:20:55] Speaker B: Are you dropping a's? No. Christine. I'm so glad. Her friend. Oh, that made me so happy. Thank you. [00:21:08] Speaker A: He kind of looks and walks over, like, ringing his head. Hello, Miss Nolly? Just before all that mayhem, I seen a fella over there skulking about on the far side of the hill by some of the trees. Tall, human, goldish skin, full beard, red cloak. He had manacles hanging from his belt, which put me into the mind that he was two fistfuls of trouble. And then he did some magic, and that bug monster steps out of thin air, and the man and the monster just stared at each other. But I think they was talking, like, talking with their minds and whatnot. Then the bug monster popped over onto the hill, raging for blood. That's when he tore apart that poor person. And then. And then the man just took off. I didn't see where he's going to, Nolly, but I'm real sorry about that. But I hear that the monster talking like he was working for the umbral court, and that man sure didn't look like no member of the umbral court. [00:22:15] Speaker B: What does a member of the umbral court look like for those of us who are not local? [00:22:21] Speaker A: Oh, well, they're generally very sallow and very, very, very pale, and they kind of look like elves, but they keep telling us they're not elves, but I don't really quite believe them. [00:22:34] Speaker D: So, yes, I suppose a richly tanned man would not appear to be part of the umbo court. [00:22:39] Speaker A: No. No. Nolly looks at the man and smiles and says, keb, thank you so much for this information. And then looks at you. I've never heard of a fetchling that likes to tan. So, yes, this does not match anything that I would have associated with the umbral court. Maybe this is the. The connection and the. That you guys are talking about. About the the distrust being trying to be sewn and and separate upon the umbral court. [00:23:11] Speaker D: Is that part of sheliacs and everything? [00:23:13] Speaker E: It's Nadal. [00:23:14] Speaker A: Nadal? [00:23:15] Speaker D: Nadal. [00:23:15] Speaker E: Which is the ruling group of Nadal. The the council. [00:23:18] Speaker D: Yeah. Well, if Nadal is also a company that a country that keeps slaves and they're in negotiations with Contago, that's probably going to be a condition. So I would not be surprised if the scarlet triad is looking to sabotage, so they can keep doing that. [00:23:34] Speaker E: So, uh, where did this fella go? [00:23:37] Speaker A: Oh, I I'm not. Not too sure, but, uh, I can show you where he was, and maybe if if you can sniff him out or something like that, or track where he went, you might be able to find some prints. [00:23:50] Speaker E: Oh, I'm trying to make a prince upon. I can't think of one. Yeah, lead on. Raspberry beret. [00:23:56] Speaker A: Yeah, no, newsboy cap. And then he starts showing you the direction. [00:24:02] Speaker E: Sorry, Hyatt, I interrupted you. What were you saying? [00:24:04] Speaker B: No, I was just laughing. [00:24:07] Speaker A: So he takes you over to a large rock, and you do see some footprints. If you'd like to roll a survival check to see if you can track. [00:24:20] Speaker E: The footprints, I will certainly attempt to, unless somebody else wants to. [00:24:25] Speaker B: I feel like there's anybody who is good at this. It is you. I trust in you. [00:24:31] Speaker D: Jasper might try to help you, though. [00:24:33] Speaker A: Okay, so go ahead and have Jaspereze roll. [00:24:37] Speaker D: Working on it. Nope. Nope. [00:24:39] Speaker E: Can we see where the guy was? Like, is there any kind of evidence as to where he was? [00:24:43] Speaker A: Yes. So when you look down, you can definitely pick out the demons, the ice devil's footprints, and then you see a pair of humanoid footprints. [00:24:53] Speaker D: Okay, and when there's only one pair, that's when the demon carried him. [00:24:56] Speaker A: Yes. [00:24:57] Speaker E: So where the. Where the human footprints are. Twin town is going to pick some grass out of the. The lawn there, and he's gonna call Taysani over and he's gonna have her sniff it, and he's gonna be like, all right, all right, girl, find him. Taesani is gonna cry out and try to locate this fella. [00:25:15] Speaker B: Add a girl to sani 33. [00:25:18] Speaker A: Great. So Tasani starts following the tracks and kind of like pointing her beak at things, and you can clearly see, and Keb goes, oh, yeah, this is where the doves were crying. And then you see that there are footprints that kind of. That match exactly with what Keb told you. There's a mark that looks like a creature was summoned to the spot. And then it looks like they walked a little bit, dimension doored, and then popped back out where you fought the demon. [00:25:57] Speaker E: Okay, so where's the dude? We know where the demon is. It's in a pile over there. [00:26:01] Speaker A: So you see that it turns. You see the footprint start leading down and away towards the town, and it travels west of Kite hill to the knight road, where the tracks then turn south toward the city of Contago. And then at some point, the footprints are lost. It takes you some time to track all of this, too, using Tasani. Would you like to try and pick up the trail again? This takes a while to get here. Probably two, 3 hours to find all of this because kite hill is very well trodden. And, like, you lose the tracks a little bit, and then you pick them up and you continue along the way. And then it looks like Tasani loses them. But again, you can try and pick them up one more time if you'd like. [00:26:57] Speaker E: We can try. I'm just worried. I didn't realize we take this long. Do we need. Do we feel like there's urgency to get to the next two locations? [00:27:04] Speaker A: You know what? I'm. I am absolutely wrong. It. Yes, there is an urgency. It is not taking you 3 hours. I'm sorry. [00:27:10] Speaker B: I. [00:27:10] Speaker A: That was. If you failed, I read the wrong line. You do succeeded. It takes you about ten minutes to find and follow these tracks. [00:27:20] Speaker E: Okay. [00:27:22] Speaker A: Yeah, that's a lot better. [00:27:24] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:27:25] Speaker E: Yeah. But, yeah, if it takes ten minutes to get toward the city, which is where we're going. Anywhere to get to the other two places, then I'm happy to try again, see if we can pick up again. [00:27:33] Speaker A: Okay. [00:27:34] Speaker E: Assuming we need to pick them up again, or was that incorrect as well? [00:27:37] Speaker A: Well, no, you could pick them up again. They. And they. You don't know where they're gonna lead. [00:27:41] Speaker E: Uh, what does the group think? Do we think we follow this guy, or we think we try to get to the other two places first? [00:27:46] Speaker B: I don't know. She's, um. I think we should probably. If there's a sense of urgency to get to the other two places, we should definitely do that. [00:27:54] Speaker A: Ooh. [00:27:54] Speaker C: Just wants blood. She don't care. [00:27:57] Speaker B: There you go. [00:27:58] Speaker E: Well, I think there's gonna be plenty of blood wherever we go. [00:28:00] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:28:00] Speaker D: Um, let's go check on the other two places places real quick, and then we can. We know where we lost the trail, so we know where to come back to try and pick it up again. [00:28:07] Speaker E: Well, I mean, by that time, it's a city that'd be feet all over it. I don't think it's gonna be possible. [00:28:12] Speaker D: That's true. [00:28:13] Speaker B: I mean, if you really do want to split at the party, I don't like it, but. But this is. If we're gonna do it, it should be now. [00:28:20] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:28:21] Speaker F: Have you seen my tongs? [00:28:22] Speaker B: What? [00:28:23] Speaker F: I'm sorry. What are we talking about? [00:28:27] Speaker D: Jasper's gonna root around, try and find some more tracks again. Nope, same result. He was gonna try and help again. [00:28:34] Speaker C: But they're in my backpack. But they're not for children's. [00:28:41] Speaker B: Different. Oh, my. [00:28:46] Speaker E: I'll see if we can find the tracks real quick, just to see if we can get a direction, at least 37. [00:28:53] Speaker A: That is just enough. You see that the tracks lead off towards a tower. [00:29:01] Speaker D: Is it a dark tower? [00:29:02] Speaker A: No, it's not a dark tower, but there are other worlds than these, so that's nice. Yeah, you. You see that they head off towards a. You see some signage on the road called Tessen Tower, and you notice that it looks as if they're moving that way very quickly, as if hasted by something. Tessen tower is not in the city. It is outside of the city along the knight road. [00:29:32] Speaker E: Okay, well, at least we have a location of where he went. We can go pick him up. I'm hoping we can go pick him up later. I think we need to get to the new places. [00:29:39] Speaker B: Let's check out those bickering and at least, you know, should he move from Tessen Tower, we have a place to work off of to his next position, and it's not on the road. [00:29:50] Speaker E: Shaun, can we get a picture of the city again? Can we get that map again? [00:29:53] Speaker A: Sure. Absolutely. He says as he's looking for the. While I get that up for you guys. Noli walks back over and you see that there's a. There's a. There's concern on her face. [00:30:11] Speaker D: Is everything all right, Noli? [00:30:12] Speaker A: I'm in a bit of a. I'm hoping that maybe you can help me figure out what to do. [00:30:20] Speaker D: Go on. [00:30:22] Speaker E: You can try us. [00:30:23] Speaker A: Well, first off, thank you so much for all of your help. That's first and foremost. But here's the problem. I know that the rumors of a Nidalee's devil attacking folks at Kite Hill will spread very quickly. Rumors? On one hand, it's a great thing for myself and the bellflower network, as it can help stir up public sentiment against Nadal and that would be great, because I don't really want them infiltrating our services or our city. On the other hand, I'm worried that the attack was designed to throw unearned blame on Nadal and that if that were to happen, it could raise hostilities between ourselves and Nadal. So, I don't know. I could let people know and whisper in the right ears that the Nadal wasn't actually behind the attack. But if I don't do that very quickly, it'll be too late. And I. I don't know if I should let Nadal take the blame for this instance or let it be known that they weren't actually behind the attack. [00:31:42] Speaker B: Well, wouldn't it be the truth and smarter to say we don't have the information? [00:31:48] Speaker E: Well, I think we're pretty sure they're not. Especially if the tan guy with the beard and manacle belt is the one who summoned the devil, which it seems like he was. [00:32:00] Speaker B: But isn't this all circumstantial evidence? [00:32:03] Speaker E: I mean, until we catch him? I guess so, but, uh, we have the witness account. It's backed up by the tracks that we found. And we did know that the scarlet tribe was on their way to Kite Hill, so I would have to say that the evidence would lean toward that. It was not an adult that made that attack. [00:32:23] Speaker A: Hundi kind of staggers back to you guys after all of this because he hid during the fight. And you see him and Keb talk, and you realize that the man Keb is talking about, the tan skinned man and the kalashite man that Hundi told you about, are the same person. [00:32:49] Speaker E: Okay? [00:32:50] Speaker A: And if you don't remember, the kalashite man seemed to be the second in command from Lazlott. [00:32:57] Speaker E: So definitely the scarlet triad behind it. Yeah. [00:33:02] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:33:02] Speaker A: Curious. Very curious. [00:33:05] Speaker E: So I think ultimately, noli, it's up to you to decide if you would like to tell the truth, which would not help your cause, but also would then not burden you with the knowledge that you did that, or if you let the rumors fester and possibly, you know, disrupt relations with Nadal, which you are for. But what you have to live with the consequences of that afterward. [00:33:44] Speaker B: Haha. It's your fault if something goes wrong. Just kidding. [00:33:49] Speaker A: She breathes a big sigh and goes, well, when you put it like that, I guess, you know, telling the truth is the right thing to do, so I guess I'll do that. She kind of looks down. Would have been a real big help to have people turn against them. But I'd rather the people turn against them for the right reasons rather than my omissions of truth. [00:34:13] Speaker E: Besides, eventually it comes out that it was the scarlet triad who summoned the ice devil. Then it's going to make you look bad if you really pushed hard in the other direction. [00:34:21] Speaker B: There is a Veritian saying that goes, mar rapidorce, coge un mentiroso qui un cojo. And that translates to, you are sooner to catch a liardhead, then you are to catch someone who limps. Perhaps it is my way with my deity, but it is a wiser choice. And I am glad you have made that choice to tell the truth. Because if you are caught in said lie, I cannot imagine what would befall you. [00:34:57] Speaker A: Then you see her kind of perk up. What are you doing around? Staying around with me. You guys know what's going on? Quick, go help. Everyone. [00:35:03] Speaker B: Listen. I don't get to translate very soon. Often. Okay, let's go. [00:35:08] Speaker A: I appreciated it. Okay, so I'm giving you guys more xp. I hate doing it, but you guys are doing so well. Okay, where are you all off to next? [00:35:24] Speaker D: I think the meeting place is on the way to the safe house. From where we are, we would pass the coffee house to get to the school. [00:35:32] Speaker E: Yeah, so correct. [00:35:33] Speaker D: So might as well take that path and check out them both. [00:35:36] Speaker E: I agree. Before we go, Brianna, I got a wound right here. If you could patch that up, I'd really appreciate it. [00:35:45] Speaker C: Who's looking over the shoulder to make sure it's actually a wound and not something? Something else. [00:35:52] Speaker B: She just wants to know, is he. [00:35:55] Speaker D: Like, pulling down his pants to show the wound? [00:35:58] Speaker C: That's what he wants to know. [00:36:01] Speaker B: How hard. Oh, back up. [00:36:06] Speaker C: She's just breathing heavy in her ear. [00:36:13] Speaker B: Sure. I will happily look over your wounds. Oh, please. Please. I. Okay, if. If he dies, it's all your fault. All of you. [00:36:23] Speaker E: I did get crit on, so I appreciate. Thank you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:36:27] Speaker B: I believe that is a critical success. 48 plus ten. [00:36:31] Speaker E: So 37 it is. [00:36:33] Speaker B: How are you doing? [00:36:34] Speaker E: Do you need any more times of the essence? I think I'll be okay. [00:36:37] Speaker B: Okay, well, should it happen again or once we get there, see how you're feeling, and then I'll do it again then. [00:36:44] Speaker A: So you have very little trouble finding this coffee house. It is a large building. A short flight of stairs leads to the double doors of a handsome two and a half story wood and stone building. The doors currently swing awkwardly loose, one of them damaged. Two broken chairs lie sprawl on the front stairs, which are smeared with what could be food or something foul there. Overturned tables are visible through the front windows. The smell of blood, cardamom and coffee waft down the stairs along with the sounds of muffled banging. No. Ooh, not that type. [00:37:24] Speaker E: I really hope that substance on the stairs is mayonnaise and not something more nefarious. All right, so did she have to. [00:37:31] Speaker A: Say. [00:37:37] Speaker C: It was just taking off? [00:37:38] Speaker B: What is happening to the town? [00:37:40] Speaker E: We're trying to move toward the building and see if you can listen in, see if we can hear anybody inside. [00:37:45] Speaker A: Outside of the banging that you hear, nothing really is going on. [00:37:55] Speaker E: Voices. What I was looking for, but there doesn't seem to be any voices. [00:37:57] Speaker F: Okay, I think if you said percussive noise, it might be less innuendo in your endo. [00:38:03] Speaker B: Hello. [00:38:06] Speaker A: So I will be moving you all to a new map in a moment, but while I move you to a new map and put your characters. Whee. I need you all to make a society check. Ugh. [00:38:21] Speaker B: Bad society. [00:38:23] Speaker E: Wow. I love it. [00:38:27] Speaker B: Wow. Woo. [00:38:28] Speaker C: She don't own nothing. [00:38:30] Speaker A: All right, Christine, what did Saraya get? [00:38:33] Speaker D: Saraya got a 20. [00:38:35] Speaker A: Okay, haya, what did Brianna get? [00:38:38] Speaker B: Brianna got a 15. [00:38:40] Speaker A: Heidi, what did ug get? [00:38:42] Speaker C: 15. [00:38:43] Speaker A: Matt, twintalon 23 and knife sword. [00:38:47] Speaker F: Twin talon got a 23. [00:38:52] Speaker A: What did knife sword get? [00:38:54] Speaker F: Oh, a 16. [00:38:57] Speaker A: Okay, great. You don't know very much anything else, so let me give you kind of more of a breakdown. You guys should be on the map now. You can look around. You can walk around the building if you like. Please don't go in yet. You can see that there are open windows on the second floor. It requires an athletics check to climb to reach the upper windows because they are 15ft up. Sewer grate to the south. [00:39:29] Speaker D: Does it appear as if anybody escaped through the sewer grate? [00:39:32] Speaker A: The sewer grate is not moved or does not appear to be. [00:39:38] Speaker C: Are the sounds coming from inside this room or upstairs? [00:39:41] Speaker A: The sounds are coming from inside the house. So this floor, if you do not want to scout around the outside, you are now more than welcome to move about the cabin. [00:39:52] Speaker B: I'm going bathroom. Hey, twin Talon. Wink, wink wink wonk. [00:39:55] Speaker E: Oh, hello. [00:39:57] Speaker C: Oh, hello, y'all. I was waiting for you to come in the bathroom. [00:40:06] Speaker B: Oh, boy. [00:40:07] Speaker F: No, I haven't gone to the bathroom in a while. [00:40:09] Speaker B: Oh, no. Are we now all going to the bathroom? Good grief. All right, all right. [00:40:14] Speaker D: I am not partaking in this weird humorous game. It must be something human esque. [00:40:22] Speaker B: Clearly. Okay, I guess. [00:40:25] Speaker F: Sorry, sorry. [00:40:26] Speaker B: What? Do you actually need to go to the bathroom? [00:40:28] Speaker F: Yes. [00:40:29] Speaker B: Oh, well, maybe we can find one inside. Hello? We need the bathroom. [00:40:36] Speaker C: Bang down the door. [00:40:38] Speaker A: One door is already opened and or is already, like, hanging by its head hinges. [00:40:43] Speaker C: Awesome. [00:40:44] Speaker B: Well, breanna's moving in with caution, I guess. Taking. Is it guarded? Being guarded? I don't remember the exposure term. [00:40:52] Speaker A: Yeah, you guys can move around a little bit. In order. This room is a mess of overturned tables, broken chairs, smashed dishes and corpses. The sharp smell of scorched coffee and burned bread fills the air. Two corpses. [00:41:10] Speaker E: Okay. Twin town will slowly and, well, not slowly, we will stealthily move into the room, looking around, trying to see if you can see where the banging is coming from. [00:41:22] Speaker A: Okay, so as you walk in, go ahead and stop right there. [00:41:26] Speaker E: Okay. [00:41:28] Speaker A: As if materializing out of nowhere, you see two pale figures show up. [00:41:38] Speaker B: Housekeeping. [00:41:41] Speaker A: You wish. Mm hmm. [00:41:44] Speaker D: Okay. [00:41:45] Speaker E: Oh, geez. They have no legs. [00:41:47] Speaker D: Yeah, they're just like. [00:41:48] Speaker A: They took my legs, Ricky Bobby. [00:41:50] Speaker D: It's like if they, like, took the hood off a dementor and, like, gave it, like, a half dead face. [00:41:56] Speaker A: Yeah. You see two of these creatures. [00:41:58] Speaker D: Great. [00:41:59] Speaker E: I would like to stop seeing two of these creatures. [00:42:00] Speaker D: Yeah, they also have, like, World of Warcraft style shoulder. Like, their pauldrons are almost as big as their heads. [00:42:10] Speaker B: Noise. [00:42:11] Speaker A: Uh, yeah, that's, uh. [00:42:14] Speaker E: Do I feel initiative happening? [00:42:16] Speaker A: Almost. Almost. What you do feel is like a plastic bag twisting in the wind, wanting to start again. But you suddenly, from behind you, twin Talon. Hear howls of dogs. [00:42:33] Speaker E: I love dogs. [00:42:34] Speaker A: And you also hear the ringing of bells. [00:42:38] Speaker E: I love bells. [00:42:39] Speaker D: Are you just looking around the room and saying that you love things? [00:42:41] Speaker E: I love lamb. [00:42:42] Speaker B: I love lamb. [00:42:50] Speaker A: These bells do not sound good. They are discordant, and they kind of reverberate within you with bone shaking clatter. [00:43:02] Speaker C: That's not good. [00:43:03] Speaker A: So, first off. [00:43:05] Speaker E: Wait. Was this the thing that happened earlier when we were, like, in the street? [00:43:08] Speaker A: Maybe. That's weird. I need all of you. All of you. You're all living creatures, right? [00:43:16] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:43:16] Speaker E: Despite your best efforts, Sean. [00:43:18] Speaker A: Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. I need you all to make a reflex. [00:43:24] Speaker E: Save. [00:43:25] Speaker A: Yes. Fortitude. Fortitude. Save. Sorry? [00:43:28] Speaker B: You tried, honey. [00:43:28] Speaker E: Well, fortitude is better for you, and. Ooh, I think. [00:43:32] Speaker A: Christine, what did you get? [00:43:33] Speaker D: I have a 31. And at level eleven, Surreya is also a juggernaut. [00:43:38] Speaker A: Oh, nice. I don't like that. [00:43:40] Speaker D: I do. [00:43:41] Speaker A: I'm gonna take you back down a little. [00:43:43] Speaker B: No, I don't think you can do that. [00:43:46] Speaker A: Okay, so a 31 will. A 31 is a success. So it's a critical success. Hiya. What did you get? [00:43:54] Speaker B: I, Gabrianna got a 37. [00:43:58] Speaker A: That is a critical success. So that is a critical success. [00:44:02] Speaker B: Hell yeah. [00:44:04] Speaker A: Heidi, what did oo get? [00:44:05] Speaker C: Oo got 27. [00:44:07] Speaker A: 27 is a success. So with juggernaut, it's a critical success. Matt, what did you get? [00:44:14] Speaker E: You'll be pleased to know I got a 26. [00:44:16] Speaker A: That's still a success. So you're gonna take half damage. And Rob, what did knife sword get? [00:44:23] Speaker F: Before I reveal that, I would like to make the argument that I should use deception instead of fortitude just because the sound doesn't believe I'm here. [00:44:33] Speaker A: No, that's a good, good argument. I appreciate it, but I'm gonna have to deny that. [00:44:41] Speaker F: Oh, okay. I got a 25. [00:44:45] Speaker A: That is still a success. So you're taking half damage, which is really just upsetting because I'm just gonna roll this damage. It's not that great. 13 points of damage. So half of that is six is six for twintalon and for knife sword. And then I need twin talon. I need twin talon. Twin talon. Oh, you see? Hellish heads of dogs on fire reach out of nowhere and make an attack. [00:45:27] Speaker F: What's he been drinking? [00:45:29] Speaker E: Bath water probably 25. 25 will miss. [00:45:33] Speaker A: Okay. [00:45:34] Speaker E: Versus AC, right? [00:45:36] Speaker A: Yep. Versus AC. That's it. Now it is looking like we will have to roll some initiative next week. [00:45:51] Speaker B: How did I feel it? How we get to have more fun. [00:45:54] Speaker D: New level up skills before this interesting combat. [00:45:57] Speaker B: Oh yeah. Level up. [00:45:59] Speaker D: Level up. [00:45:59] Speaker A: Is that terrible this time? Thank you for listening to the Crack Die podcast.
