I don't think we've missed a week of putting out content for several years now. And as someone who both edited and witnessed my wife editing on our wedding night, I think we need a break. That's a small one for the holidays. Allow us to see our family without having to worry about a looming deadline. So we have content. We're just going to push it back a little bit, allow us to ease into the new year. And then once the 6 January comes, we're back to our normal weekly format for the podcast. In the meantime, on the 23rd and 30 December, Sean's got something planned. He's calling them winterludes. I'm a fan of the pun, so I'll let it go. So just to recap this episode, normal episode January 6, normal episode, the two in between something different. But we will be back, and we'll be back to our normal format soon. [00:03:25] Speaker E: That's a long time since before 200. Yeah. [00:03:28] Speaker D: I have narrative blue balls for something. [00:03:30] Speaker C: Narrative blue balls. Yeesh. [00:03:32] Speaker E: I mean, I don't know if I'm looking forward to it, because I'm pretty sure 200 is going to be the Kuja town, realizing the folks they sent out to confront the dragon art coming back. [00:03:49] Speaker B: Well, little do you guys realize, this will be the last episode, at least for these characters, because I'm planning on killing everyone. [00:03:55] Speaker C: Checks out. I just want to let everyone know that 109 is the 29th prime number. So it is a prime with a prime subscript. 109 is a centered triangular number. 109 is the atomic mass of menthol. Something menthurium. [00:04:29] Speaker F: And the diameter of the sun is. [00:04:32] Speaker B: About 109.1 to 109.5 diameters of the earth. So those are some fun facts. Now they're facts. [00:04:40] Speaker E: I know we're playing an RPG, but you vastly overestimate all of our ability to do mathematic. [00:04:45] Speaker B: No, I don't. I think Matt's the only one. [00:04:47] Speaker F: Maybe Rob. [00:04:48] Speaker B: Matt and Rob are probably the only two who understood the numbers I said or the words I said. It's more like the gun jammed. [00:06:40] Speaker B: Okay, well, speaking of gun jammed, who are the bears? Chicago asks that a lot, too. Oh. [00:06:49] Speaker C: Goodbye. [00:06:52] Speaker B: It's okay. My hockey team is three wins on the season, and we're not doing good. Anyhoozle, last time, twin talon murdered a very lovely slaver demon. [00:07:11] Speaker B: We had a little brief history with briena, and this golem started punching Brianna and Saraya in the face. But then. Then knife sword decided to gravity well. And because I roll like a garbage person, this golem that was laying out damage seemed pretty much untouchable. Got crushed by two sets of crates and is now prone. Ooh. Mounted a guy and started punching him in the head. [00:07:39] Speaker C: Hell, yeah. [00:07:40] Speaker F: And we interrupted twintalon before he could. [00:07:44] Speaker B: Have tasani do anything. So, matt. [00:07:46] Speaker A: Uh huh. [00:07:47] Speaker D: So, matt, what to Sonny with tyson is one action. Tyson is going to loop up trying to stay out of this thing's reach as best as possible. It is on the ground, and then she's going to end up next to it there. So she's trying to set up a flank for Brianna. She won't kind of flap and caw. [00:08:05] Speaker B: Okay, next up is the guy that is between quintallon. [00:08:11] Speaker D: Really? Ooh, doesn't go next. [00:08:11] Speaker B: And ooh. [00:08:12] Speaker F: Nope. [00:08:13] Speaker B: Ooh, does go next. [00:08:14] Speaker H: Trying to take my turn. [00:08:15] Speaker B: I was trying to get an attack in. All right. Ooh. Go ahead. [00:08:19] Speaker H: All right. Oo is very excited about all this fighting, and she's gonna take another swing. That'll hit 17 damage. [00:09:03] Speaker B: Would you like to describe how you beat this person into death? [00:09:08] Speaker H: So she's, like, on his back, and she's just, like, beating down on his head. And then she gives one good final blow with both of her fists coming down on his head. [00:09:17] Speaker B: Boom. [00:09:18] Speaker H: And his head just explodes outward all over the place. [00:09:22] Speaker B: Twin Talon, you are showered like you are at a front row of a Gallagher concert. [00:09:28] Speaker D: Same color and everything. All right. [00:09:30] Speaker B: Yep, yep. [00:09:31] Speaker C: Gross. [00:09:32] Speaker B: Ooh, you have one more action. [00:09:36] Speaker H: She, like, takes the. The blood off of her and starts, like, licking it. I love a good shot. Twin Talon, you got any plans for this friend over here who's a little incapacitated at the moment? [00:10:02] Speaker A: Not before we go and find out what the rest of that combat noise is. [00:10:05] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. You did also just hear coco. You heard a bunch of crates fall over and a giant stone statue fall and hit the ground. [00:10:17] Speaker D: Yeah, there's no way that was quiet. [00:10:19] Speaker H: Yeah, then she's very excited, and she's gonna run for the noise. [00:10:25] Speaker B: Okay, go ahead and move yourself. Saraya, it is your turn. [00:10:29] Speaker E: It is my turn. And I've got a couple frost vials, I believe, so I'm gonna try checking them, and since they're moderate, maybe I'll have better look. Okay, does the 22 hit it? [00:10:42] Speaker B: Uh, no, it does not. You do have a hero point. [00:10:47] Speaker E: Oh, and I do? Yeah, let's do that. Top of the hour. Top of the episode. [00:10:52] Speaker B: Top of the episode. [00:10:54] Speaker E: Because I rolled a three, and I can't roll higher than. I can't even hit double digits. That was an eight for a 27. [00:11:02] Speaker B: That will hit because it is prone. [00:11:06] Speaker E: Sweet. Okay, so the frost vials do two d six cold, plus two persistent. [00:11:15] Speaker B: Okay, well, what is your class? DC. [00:11:18] Speaker E: My class DC is 28. [00:11:21] Speaker B: I believe that makes the save. [00:11:24] Speaker E: This one does not have a save because it's just straight up damage. [00:11:27] Speaker B: Okay, so how much damage did you do? [00:11:28] Speaker E: Apparently I do three damage and two cold splash. [00:11:32] Speaker B: Okay, cold. Now, is this. Is this ace? This is an area splash, technically. Cool. Get roll. Or you can attack the seagull like creature, which is already dying. There's a juicy hero point in it for you. [00:18:50] Speaker G: Ah, but she's behind the giant thing. As you round that corner, you see Tasani on the ground with a obviously, like, crumpled wings. Broken foot has to be crushed, ribs like. [00:20:17] Speaker D: Okay, so still not adjacent to it. So Twintalon will take his last action to circle up around so that he is exactly opposite with Brienne and next to Taysani. [00:20:31] Speaker B: All right, can you please give me a recovery check for Taseni. Maybe it's a flat roll. [00:20:37] Speaker D: Uh huh. That is a three. So it's gonna fail. [00:20:40] Speaker B: That is going to fail. Would you like to use your hero point? [00:20:43] Speaker D: Uh, yeah. Let's say one. So that also fails. [00:20:46] Speaker B: That also fails. For secret transportation of freed slaves. [00:42:56] Speaker B: Secrecy is maintained by allowing members to. [00:43:00] Speaker F: Only know their immediate contacts. [00:43:02] Speaker B: So any information gained by enemies from. [00:43:04] Speaker F: Captured members is limited. The network has no discernible headquarters, but. [00:43:09] Speaker B: There are places where members meet regularly, in secret. The organization dates back to just after. [00:43:16] Speaker F: The collapse of the empire of Cheliaks. [00:43:18] Speaker B: When this disruption caused by those events gave the opportunities for halflings to escape their masters. That is what, you know, you said. [00:43:26] Speaker D: That the bellflower network was built to free halfling slaves. Do they help other types of slaves? [00:43:31] Speaker F: Yes. [00:43:32] Speaker B: Yes. Their primary goal right now is halfling slaves from Cheliaks. But any and all slave, they. They're overall a. Yeah, they're a network. [00:43:43] Speaker E: That'S, you know, they're an underground railroad, essentially. [00:43:46] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:43:46] Speaker D: I just thought it'd be weird to have a network that, like, if there was a line of people chained up, they're like, you get free. Not you. Not you. Not you. You get free. Like, I think that probably. [00:43:56] Speaker B: No, no, no. [00:43:57] Speaker A: Bad practice. [00:43:59] Speaker B: They're overall an abolitionist organization. But, you know, halflings from chaliacs are, like, the biggest concern. [00:44:06] Speaker D: They have the focus. Yeah. Gotcha. [00:44:08] Speaker E: Yeah, I assume that it's the biggest trafficked group in the area. [00:44:12] Speaker A: Okay, so what three places did you tell them? [00:44:15] Speaker F: The three sites I told them are a message dispatch site called Kite Hill. [00:44:22] Speaker B: A meeting site called the Long Roads. [00:44:24] Speaker F: Coffee House, and a safe house called Lady Decors School for girls. [00:44:29] Speaker A: Okay, are there any other bellflower network sites in the city? [00:44:33] Speaker F: Not that I know of. We're a very secretive group, so I only know those three sites. [00:44:39] Speaker E: So there's a safe house, a message thing, and a meeting place? [00:44:43] Speaker F: Yes, a message site, a meeting house, and a safe house. The leader of the scarlet triads in this area was here, and Laslyn scared me enough and beat me enough to get the information out. She is a gnollen, terrifying creature. [00:44:59] Speaker A: Okay, great. Could you. Aside from being an. Are gnolls common in the city? [00:45:03] Speaker F: Not really, no. [00:45:05] Speaker A: So if we see a gnoll, it's pretty safe to assume it's Laslin. [00:45:07] Speaker F: I mean, I would ask for names, but. [00:45:09] Speaker B: Sure. [00:45:09] Speaker A: Does Laslin have any identifying characteristics? [00:45:13] Speaker F: Uh, yes. So Laslin is a. Is a gnoll. She has light brown fur, a scar over her right eye that looks very white and. And cataracty. That's. That's the best description I can give you of her. She also had a kalashite man with. With her, a spellcaster of some sort, although I didn't quite catch his name. I did overhear that the. The triad agents planned to rendezvous somewhere else in town after the raids on the bellflower network sites. And. And they felt that this safe house for them, sunset imports, had become too visible. I have no idea where this new hideout might be. [00:45:55] Speaker A: All right, interesting. Did they say anything about where they were going first or. [00:46:00] Speaker F: They said they would go to all three sites. There was enough of them to split up. My recommendation would be at least trying to get to Kite Hill first, because that is a way we can send messages. Kite Hill is a very public venue, and I also know that there is a kite flying event happening today. That is also a way that we can hide our messages. We can use Kite to send messages. I'm not very skilled in it, but if we were to get there, I believe there are some other agents around that can help us, that could give us the edge in notifying both the school and the meeting place that things. [00:46:45] Speaker B: Are a foot or. [00:46:47] Speaker A: And hear me out on this one. We could split up and attack all three locations at the same time. [00:46:52] Speaker D: Okay. [00:46:52] Speaker C: No, no. [00:46:53] Speaker D: Okay. [00:46:54] Speaker F: Sounds great. The GM loves that. I hope you all have backup characters. [00:47:00] Speaker C: I know. Nothing. I'm not listening. [00:47:02] Speaker D: All right, so this guy thinks that Kite hell will be the best place because we can send messages to the other two once we get there. [00:47:07] Speaker B: Correct? Okay, but he also. Again, I'm nothing. I'm not railroading you. I don't want to railroad you. That is his suggestion. But he is also not the highest ranking member of the Bellflower network. He is very distraught right now, and all three sites are in danger. And he, seeing how you dispatched of the group here, he is going to let you make that decision. And you can decide in any order that you want. [00:47:37] Speaker D: Yeah, sure. Why not? Why not? [00:47:40] Speaker E: He'll do it his way. [00:47:40] Speaker D: Yeah, I mean, if he thinks we could get messages to the other two, that's not a bad plan. [00:47:45] Speaker E: If it works, where do we have a map? Like, how close are these places? All to each other. [00:47:50] Speaker F: So I will send you guys. I'll post up this map for you and. Why don't we do this? [00:47:57] Speaker B: I have an idea. [00:47:58] Speaker F: It's a new one. [00:47:59] Speaker B: I don't know if you've ever heard this idea before. [00:48:01] Speaker F: Take a week, decide the order in. [00:48:05] Speaker B: Which you would want to go. [00:48:07] Speaker C: I quit. [00:48:07] Speaker B: And then you can't. I have a contract, damn it. [00:48:12] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:48:12] Speaker B: Oh, you didn't again. [00:48:14] Speaker F: I had knife, sword, get all of your signatures while you were asleep. [00:48:19] Speaker E: Is that what happens when you suck on someone's big toe? They just, like, reflexively sign something? [00:48:25] Speaker G: It is known. [00:48:26] Speaker B: Yes.
