[00:00:40] Speaker A: Hello, everyone, and welcome back for episode 100 of the Crack Die podcast. My name is Matt. I play twin Talon on the show. [00:00:48] Speaker B: We did it. [00:00:49] Speaker A: We've actually hit 100 real episodes plus all of the in betweeners. Feels, uh, feels pretty good. A lot of podcasts don't make it to 100 episodes. And hey, maybe you're saying you guys should have stopped at four, but you're still listening, so joke's on both of us, I guess. In any case, we have something a. [00:01:10] Speaker B: Little different for you this week. [00:01:13] Speaker A: But before I get into anything else, I want to plug very quickly our Patreon patreon.com crackdypodcast patreon.com cracked Die podcast. If you would like to support our efforts on this podcast and also our our Twitch show, that is the best way to do that. Additionally, you can check us out every three weeks where we play the agents of Edgewatch adventure path, little thing we like to call Absalom and order. And you can find us there at Twitch TV. Cracked die. We did that this past weekend. So October 23, we should be bringing you the next episode of that. So we hope you'll join us for that as well. So this week is a little different with the content that we're bringing you now. Every week is a real game that you're listening to. We don't fudge rolls. We don't redo things. If we TPK, we TPK. If we wipe the floor with Shawn's monsters, we do that, somebody gets killed. They get killed. The roles are what they are. So we don't lie about any of that stuff. But this week, the players were in the dark even more than we normally are. In fact, for this game, Sean just told us to make level six elven characters for no reason and bring them along. We didn't know where this was gonna go, but this is how it turned out. The long awaited 100th episode back in time. [00:02:32] Speaker C: Welcome to the Crack Die podcast and the very special episode 100. [00:02:39] Speaker A: Hooray. [00:02:41] Speaker B: So, do you have something planned, or did you decide to do the South park thing? [00:02:47] Speaker C: I really wish I had decided to do the South park thing. It would have been a lot easier. [00:02:52] Speaker B: Fair enough. [00:02:52] Speaker C: But no, I have something planned. I've planned and plotted and stewed, trying to think of other words. [00:03:05] Speaker D: Brooded? [00:03:06] Speaker C: Brooded? Yes. [00:03:07] Speaker B: Grooted. [00:03:08] Speaker C: I am grooted. [00:03:09] Speaker B: Oh, okay. [00:03:10] Speaker D: Oh, no. [00:03:11] Speaker E: Interesting. [00:03:11] Speaker C: No, I did plan something, and it is a flashback. So insert flashback noises here. Cool. [00:03:26] Speaker D: I'll look for them. Yep. [00:03:27] Speaker C: So, first off, before we jump into episode 100, I first wanna thank everyone for hanging with us for 99 episodes plus this one. And it means a lot to me, and I'm assuming the rest of the group. [00:03:45] Speaker D: Absolutely, absolutely. [00:03:46] Speaker C: That you've hung in here for 100 episodes. But also, I was looking up some statistics, and most actual plays don't really get to this point. Something happens and people lose interest or whatever. And we are lucky enough that we haven't had that. We've had some issues with people leaving and whatnot, but we've managed to continue on and soldier forth and get amazing performers to replace those that have left. So I also want to thank Rob and Heidi for joining us on this weird adventure that we're on. [00:04:25] Speaker D: Yeah. Thank you so much, Rob and Heidi, first and foremost. And it's been such a wacky, fun two years. Here's to many, many more. And thank you, all of you who are listening, for watching this unfold. For listening to this unfold. You know what I'm trying to say here, but, yeah. Holy cow. I think I'm in shock. [00:04:50] Speaker E: We've made it this far. We have our listeners, and it's really cool. [00:04:54] Speaker A: And for those of you who are. [00:04:55] Speaker B: Joining us for the first time, you've. [00:04:57] Speaker A: Picked a very strange time to show up. [00:04:59] Speaker B: But I. Yep, we welcome you as well. [00:05:00] Speaker C: Please go back to episode one. We will be here when you catch up, I promise. It's just. It's. It's been a really weird adventure, both written and in real life. When we started, we were recording in person weird. In different locations, and then the world happened, and now we're doing remote recordings and playing online, and that's different. And it's taken a little bit of a learning curve, at least for me, to get used to. And so, yeah, it's just. It's been fun. I'm really happy. I was talking to Christine about this, and I felt like the last couple of episodes were just super, super silly and super fun in a good way. So. All right, enough chatting. Let's get into this. Episode 100. We are going to go back, and if this was a tv show or some sort of visual medium, it would be one of those effects where we see plants, we see the buildings being deconstructed as we go back in time, and we go back and back and we see cities like Absalom being deconstructed. And we see Ayudhara pillars that surround the isles that Absalom is on, and we see them sink. We see fallen gods arise and return. We see aroden raising pillars, and we see him lowering pillars. We actually see the whole island of Cortos sinking back into the ocean. And we're going back, back, back. We see plants and trees growing, re emerging from where large cities are. We see places like lastwall that have been destroyed, and they're rebuilt. And we see greenery growing again. And we look down to the mwange expanse. And even though it's still very green in modern times for this game, it seems to become a bit denser and a bit more lush. And then we see smoke and darkness envelop the entire planet. And this is where we're going to start. It is the age of darkness. Zooming in to the Mwangi expanse, we see a town, a treetop village that we all recognize. And we're back. We're back on this lovely hex map. [00:07:59] Speaker A: Oh, no. [00:08:00] Speaker D: Damn it. [00:08:02] Speaker E: Thought we escaped, right? [00:08:04] Speaker C: And we're back in Akron. I except this is old acrovel. It looks very, very similar to what we saw when we last visited, except the leopard princes are not in charge. And we see a darkness covering the sky. Clouds that are thick and gray and full of dirt and debris clouding in them. Whatever fell to earth and what is whatever caused this? The trees in the Milankee expanse are slowly withering and dying off due to the lack of sun and the constant pouring of rain. Once lively animals that roam the jungle are dying or dead and decaying. We see. As we move around in the jungle here, we see just bones of elephants, leopards. The small treetop village that you all live in still stands. How long it will stay like this, it's unknown. Over the past few weeks, blazing against the dark sky is a red, fiery shape spewing fire and destruction from its overgrown talons. Groups of your fellow villagers have gone off to fight this creature. Sadly, only one or two have ever returned from their battles. When they come back, they tell stories of a great evil that rends and tears apart their fellow warriors, bathing them in golden flames, burning them to the ground. The village elders have gathered around and spoke of a potential way to deal with this creature, an ancient ritual that has been lost for ages. Very recent stories of a scroll have started circulating. The leaders have called in a small band of warriors and scholars and mystics to search for this scroll that could potentially put an end to this. Your group has been chosen to investigate these rumors to see if they are true or just a glimmer of hope against the darkness that seems to be tearing apart your jungle home. And I would like to ask each of you to describe who you're playing. Starting with Christine. [00:10:30] Speaker E: I am playing Nakasha. She is an ikujay barbarian. I call her a pursuit barbarian. A lot of her skills involve chasing things down and making sure they can't get away. Yeah. [00:10:42] Speaker C: Next we have haya. [00:10:44] Speaker D: I am playing Muari. That is spelled m w a r I. She is a magus. Magus. [00:10:57] Speaker C: So we're gonna play around with some new stuff. [00:11:01] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:11:01] Speaker C: Very excited. [00:11:03] Speaker F: Okay. [00:11:04] Speaker G: And Heidi, I play this physical, a farmer turned fighter. [00:11:13] Speaker B: And Matt, my character, is da alak d hyphen halahk. And he is an oracle. Also a sorcerer. [00:11:26] Speaker C: Ooh. [00:11:27] Speaker H: And Rob, I'm playing finnal. He's fennel. [00:11:33] Speaker C: Okay. [00:11:35] Speaker H: He hits things with long things. [00:11:37] Speaker C: Gotcha. And you're all Ikujael's, but what are. [00:11:41] Speaker D: Our relations to one another so we can kind of build upon that and stuff? [00:11:46] Speaker C: Sure. You all know each other. You're all from the same village. Obviously someone's a farmer. [00:11:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:52] Speaker A: What is everyone's background? [00:11:53] Speaker B: That's actually a good question. They'll tell us who we were before we were adventurers. [00:11:58] Speaker C: Christine was a hunter. Matt, you were a fortune teller. [00:12:01] Speaker D: Yes, I was a scout. [00:12:03] Speaker C: Heidi was a farmhand, and Rob was a bounty hunter. [00:12:11] Speaker H: I hate things. [00:12:13] Speaker E: Do we want to go run for, like, real quick and do, like, the powered by the apocalypse thing where, like, everybody's like, here's my relationship with two other people, or, like, everybody else. [00:12:20] Speaker D: Yes, let's do that. [00:12:21] Speaker E: All right. [00:12:22] Speaker C: We'll start at the top with Haya. So, Haya, who do you want a relationship with? [00:12:27] Speaker D: Does it have to be one good, one bad, or. It doesn't matter. [00:12:31] Speaker C: I'd say too good. Because, again, it's a small town. [00:12:33] Speaker D: Right. Heidi, do you want to be my wife? Sure. Done. There's one. [00:12:39] Speaker G: This is my dream come true. I have been saying this for years, since before both you and I got married. [00:12:46] Speaker D: It's true. And then, Robert, do you want to be my brother? [00:12:56] Speaker H: All right. But my half of the room has to be two thirds. [00:13:00] Speaker D: No. [00:13:03] Speaker C: All right, so next we'll go with Heidi. [00:13:09] Speaker G: Since Heidi is my wife, grandpa can be like. Like a surrogate grandpa. Like, I would probably go to him for oracleness on the weather. Tell me what the weather is going to be. Tell me how my crops are. Please give me some good guidance. Right, that's your job. [00:13:23] Speaker B: I mean, I'm a fortune teller. [00:13:25] Speaker G: He creates fire. [00:13:26] Speaker D: Right? [00:13:27] Speaker B: I create fire. Yeah. I'm a fire oracle. [00:13:30] Speaker C: Info. [00:13:31] Speaker F: Gotcha. [00:13:31] Speaker C: All right. And who else? [00:13:34] Speaker F: Soraya. [00:13:34] Speaker G: Who's not Soraya? What do you do? [00:13:35] Speaker E: I'm a hunter. I was actually gonna ask if you wanted to be siblings. [00:13:38] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:13:38] Speaker G: Let's go. [00:13:39] Speaker F: All right, cool. [00:13:41] Speaker E: So I do the hunting and get the meat, and you raise the crops and get the veggies. [00:13:45] Speaker D: Yeah, girl. Perfect retreat. [00:13:47] Speaker C: All right, Christine. [00:13:50] Speaker E: Cool. So Haya is obviously my hunting partner. [00:13:53] Speaker D: Yes, absolutely. [00:13:55] Speaker E: And initially, I was gonna see if Matt actually wanted to be grandpa, but if that's the relationship with Heidi, then. [00:14:02] Speaker G: He'D still be your grandpa. [00:14:04] Speaker E: I mean, he could still be grandpa, or I could do rob as my black market hookup. [00:14:08] Speaker C: Okay. [00:14:10] Speaker E: I don't know if they usually have a black market, but he's a bounty hunter. [00:14:14] Speaker C: You deal in animal pelt? [00:14:16] Speaker E: Yeah, he's my pelt provider. Or at least. Yeah, he's like, I take the meat, and he takes, like, all the other stuff. [00:14:22] Speaker H: Those poachers had, um, some extra parts. [00:14:26] Speaker B: Wait, the poachers had extra parts? [00:14:28] Speaker C: Not anymore. [00:14:29] Speaker B: For the animals. [00:14:31] Speaker H: Don't think about it too hard. [00:14:33] Speaker F: All right, uh, Matt. [00:14:36] Speaker B: Okay, so I have a relationship to Heidi fis. [00:14:40] Speaker C: Yes. Heidi. [00:14:42] Speaker B: I don't know. I don't know. Like, I was just figuring out would be a village elder. Like, that's coming along, okay. To teach these whippersnappers something that kind. [00:14:49] Speaker C: Of fits with everyone. Okay, Ral, who are you connecting to? [00:14:53] Speaker H: Okay, so I'm gonna be first cousins with Matt. [00:14:57] Speaker B: Okay. [00:14:58] Speaker D: Okay. Wait, that means that I'm first cousins with Matt, too, then. [00:15:05] Speaker H: Yeah. [00:15:06] Speaker D: All right. [00:15:07] Speaker H: And then. And then Matt's the granddad of your wife, so, you know. [00:15:11] Speaker D: Wow, that's cool. Sorry. We're such a small village. [00:15:15] Speaker B: Such a small village. We're isolated. [00:15:19] Speaker E: I mean. Okay, no, so, clearly, we're, like, the one family that hasn't been picked to go out yet. And, like, now it's our turn. [00:15:27] Speaker D: We're the last resort. [00:15:28] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:15:29] Speaker B: There's a bunch of inbred hillbillies. Why don't you go try to figure out what's going on? [00:15:35] Speaker E: We're all one big extended family now. [00:15:39] Speaker H: And I'll be Heidi's bookie. [00:15:42] Speaker E: Yeah. Cause, I mean, like, Haya and Rob are, like, my in laws now, and. [00:15:49] Speaker C: All right, well, this took a weird turn. [00:15:54] Speaker H: I think we've wound a web here. [00:15:57] Speaker E: Yep, quite the web here. [00:16:01] Speaker H: That could actually be our family tree. [00:16:03] Speaker C: It's all crumbs. So, as you are asked by your elders to head into the jungle, hopefully finding this mysterious scroll. And if you do find it, to come back, no matter what cost, this is the only hope that you could potentially have to dealing with this large a winged beast. They hand you a torn map with vague directions of where to head, and you wander the jungle following this torn and crumbling map. As you and your fellow companions make camp on the first night, you all wonder if what you are looking for is real. The thought that something so powerful could be hidden here in the jungle seems like such a dream. Something that could help fix this world and deal with the great darkness that flies above. You. Wake up the next morning taking care of your morning preparations and head off. As the day wears on, you hear the screech of a terrified animal. [00:17:16] Speaker B: That's not good. Did you guys hear that? [00:17:19] Speaker D: Yes. We should probably find it and hopefully be able to help it. [00:17:24] Speaker A: Okay, I don't know if you guys know this, but I can't see very. [00:17:28] Speaker B: Well, so if someone else could lead. [00:17:29] Speaker D: The way, I'll happily do so. [00:17:32] Speaker E: Can I roll survival to try and, like, track it? [00:17:36] Speaker C: Absolutely. [00:17:37] Speaker E: Cool. [00:17:38] Speaker D: I will do so as well as a scout. [00:17:40] Speaker E: Wow. I got a nat one. So I'm just. I'm overwhelmed by this screech of this animal. I try to be an ethical hunter, and very clearly something is not being ethical about their hunting right now. [00:17:51] Speaker D: I do have jungle lore. Would I be able to use that in this instance? [00:17:57] Speaker C: Sure. [00:17:57] Speaker D: Oh, there we go. I rolled a nat 20 for a total of 31. [00:18:04] Speaker C: 31. You do know what this is? Okay, this is what is known as a karinas. K a. Rhino. [00:18:17] Speaker F: I n a s. Karinas. [00:18:23] Speaker C: They are also known as plague birds. They are large owl like creatures with dark red feathers, powerful talons, and unsettling eyes. Their broad wings conceal a pair of wiry humanoid arms that end in clawed fingers, which they use to dig through through burial sites in the search of corpses. [00:18:46] Speaker B: That sounds gross. [00:18:47] Speaker H: It's not ideal. [00:18:48] Speaker D: That's the. That's the son of a karinas bird. It's the plague. Plague bird. Plague doctor. Birds. I don't know what's happening. [00:18:55] Speaker B: All plague doctors are birds. That's why their faces look like that. [00:18:58] Speaker D: Yes, grandpa. Good job I'm old. Well, I suppose we could get a closer look, see if it's in any danger or causing any havoc. I suppose so. [00:19:14] Speaker C: As you turn the corner, you see dropped directly in front of you, the corpse of a cat like creature that has been disemboweled, and two bird like creatures with their red feathers step in front of you. [00:19:32] Speaker D: Uh oh. Okay. You said they were carrion birds. [00:19:36] Speaker C: You can give me either a jungle lore or an arcana nature or religion to try and figure out these. [00:19:44] Speaker D: That was a 22. [00:19:45] Speaker C: 22 is enough. You may ask me three questions about them. [00:19:52] Speaker E: Okay. [00:19:53] Speaker D: Pardon me. Wants to ask if they're predatory or territorial or are they just carrying birds that can be shooed away despite their terrifying appearance. What do you guys think? [00:20:05] Speaker B: Sure. I mean, if they're gonna be hostile, it's good to know. Like edit them. [00:20:09] Speaker D: Yeah. Let's start with that question then. [00:20:12] Speaker C: So, yes, they are traditionally hostile creatures. [00:20:14] Speaker D: Okay, what else do we want to know? [00:20:16] Speaker B: If they have any special attacks, I would guess that we should be aware of. [00:20:19] Speaker D: There we go. [00:20:20] Speaker C: Special attacks. They have what's called a mocking cry. Oh, look at me, I'm an elf. [00:20:32] Speaker D: That's a no. [00:20:34] Speaker C: Karina mimics a voice and mocks a creature within 30ft. They attempt a deception check to demoralize the creature. Regardless of whether the check succeeds, the target creature is temporarily immune for 1 hour. They can also grab fun. [00:20:51] Speaker D: Hmm. I suppose we can. What do we think, guys? [00:20:54] Speaker B: Sure. That's always good to know. [00:20:56] Speaker E: That's usually a good way to go. [00:20:58] Speaker C: It is weak to good. Damage five. [00:21:01] Speaker D: I don't know what that is. Brianna, get it that is not around. Lottie will relay that information quietly. Have we been noticed? [00:21:14] Speaker F: They came out of the perches in the trees and have just kind of. [00:21:18] Speaker C: Stopped and looked at you. [00:21:19] Speaker D: Okay. [00:21:19] Speaker C: They are large creatures, by the way. Just so you guys know that as well. [00:21:23] Speaker E: Yeah, they were looking pretty formidable size wise. [00:21:26] Speaker C: They look like owls with red feathers and white markings on them. But once they lift up their wings, you see these humanoid hands extending from the body that end in like sharp talons. [00:21:38] Speaker D: Wow. [00:21:38] Speaker E: Doesn't look creepy. [00:21:39] Speaker D: Muadi will take a side step so she can keep these creatures in her periphery and still speak to her companion. Sorry. Her family, her hillbilly family. And kind of relay to them. Kasia, do you remember the big scary birds we used to run away from as children? We? Mm hmm. These. These are them. And I'm unsure of what to do if we should try and move around. What do you guys think? [00:22:07] Speaker E: They don't like letting people through their territory. [00:22:09] Speaker D: No. Maybe we can move south either. [00:22:14] Speaker E: All those trees there. Because it looks like to at least to the south of me directly, there's. [00:22:18] Speaker F: Like mostly tree cover. [00:22:20] Speaker D: I see a path down that curves this. This tree line right here which will point south. [00:22:26] Speaker I: That seems to go awfully close to those birds. [00:22:31] Speaker D: Can't. [00:22:33] Speaker E: If I have a 28 to nature. Can I see if I remember anything else? [00:22:37] Speaker C: Yeah. You may ask me two questions. [00:22:40] Speaker E: What is their alignment? [00:22:42] Speaker C: Neutral. Evil. [00:22:44] Speaker E: They're not good things. We don't want them near the village. [00:22:49] Speaker D: Okay. [00:22:50] Speaker E: It might be best to take them out. [00:22:51] Speaker D: I guess we should deal with them. [00:22:53] Speaker F: You have one other question if you'd like. [00:22:55] Speaker E: You know, they're weak to good. [00:22:57] Speaker H: How much are their feathers worth? [00:23:00] Speaker E: It's not a bad question, actually. Are there are therefore skins feathers worth anything or used in any fun crafting bits? [00:23:08] Speaker C: You know that these feathers can be used to get a blight poison out of them if used, but it is very dangerous. Most people get very ill, so I'll relay that. [00:23:23] Speaker E: And that we might want to be very careful because their feathers are poisonous. [00:23:27] Speaker C: Basically, you know that if they bite you or they scratch you with their claws, not their feet, talons, you could have a blight poison effect. [00:23:41] Speaker D: Well, grandpa, I really think you should go back to the village. [00:23:45] Speaker I: Nonsense. I've been throwing down with fucking cabbage birds since I was knee high to one of them spider folks. [00:23:53] Speaker D: But, but grandpa, you're not a spry anymore. [00:23:57] Speaker I: Yeah, I'm still feeling piss and vinegar and fire. Everything in this place burns. [00:24:04] Speaker D: Okay, I guess we go forward then. [00:24:07] Speaker I: As my dragon grandpa used to say. Let's fucking do this shit. [00:24:14] Speaker C: All right, give me some initiative, please. [00:24:17] Speaker D: Oh, lord. [00:24:19] Speaker C: Oh, my God, I love it. [00:24:20] Speaker B: I rolled a 21 on my initiative. [00:24:22] Speaker D: I rolled a 17 on my initiative. [00:24:24] Speaker C: Rob, what did you get? [00:24:26] Speaker H: I rolled a 29. [00:24:27] Speaker B: Well, at least some things are still the same. [00:24:30] Speaker C: All right, Heidi, what did you roll? Four for a total of 14. And Christine? [00:24:37] Speaker E: I rolled an 18 for a 31. [00:24:40] Speaker C: All right, so you're first, Christine. [00:24:45] Speaker E: Cool. Well, first thing I'm gonna do is rage. Cause I'm a barbarian and I'm gonna have to tag. [00:24:50] Speaker C: All right, Barbarans. So when you rage, you get eight temporary hit points. You take a minus one to your ac and you can't seek, but you deal an additional two damage with your melee weapons and unarmed attacks. [00:25:06] Speaker E: All right, looking at doing a barreling charge. So you rush forward, moving enemies aside to reach your foe. But I'm not sure if I have to actually rush through anybody. [00:25:16] Speaker C: You have no enemies to move through. [00:25:18] Speaker E: Okay, then I'm just gonna run up to the closest one with my plus one striking foul shear. [00:25:24] Speaker C: Okay. [00:25:25] Speaker E: And I'm gonna try and hit him. [00:25:28] Speaker C: Alright, so my first attack is 1523 will hit. [00:25:33] Speaker E: Cool. [00:25:35] Speaker C: So you hit for 15 points of damage. Rob, you're up. [00:25:42] Speaker H: Time to kebab. [00:25:44] Speaker C: So you move up to the same one as Christine and you will hit with a 24 for 22 points of damage. As you slice into this owl like creature, you have one more action. If you'd like 16 will miss. [00:26:07] Speaker H: Too much flourish, not enough thunder. [00:26:10] Speaker F: Uh, okay, next up is one of these bird creatures. [00:26:18] Speaker D: Oh, boy. [00:26:19] Speaker F: And it is going to flap, flies straight at Moiri and will attempt to. [00:26:29] Speaker C: Use its feetsy talons at you. [00:26:33] Speaker F: It will hit. [00:26:36] Speaker D: Yeah, with a 26. I'm not quite as beefy as Brianna. [00:26:41] Speaker F: 15 points of damage. [00:26:43] Speaker D: Good Lord. [00:26:45] Speaker C: And it's going to spend an action. [00:26:48] Speaker F: To attempt to grab you. [00:26:51] Speaker D: Hmm. All right. All right. [00:26:54] Speaker F: So it automatically grabs you. [00:26:56] Speaker D: It grabs me for using an action. [00:26:58] Speaker C: It grabs you. So you now grab. [00:27:01] Speaker D: All right. [00:27:02] Speaker C: And while you are grabbed, it's gonna. [00:27:05] Speaker F: Reach out with those claws that it. [00:27:08] Speaker D: Has and touch my hand. [00:27:12] Speaker B: Like, didn't it move, attack, and then spend an action to grab. [00:27:15] Speaker C: Oh, it did, you're right. [00:27:16] Speaker D: Thank you. [00:27:18] Speaker F: Stop ruining my fun. [00:27:20] Speaker E: We do constantly have to remind Sean. [00:27:22] Speaker B: How many actions he has and how many we have. [00:27:25] Speaker C: Next up is you, Matt. [00:27:27] Speaker B: The old man, like, closes his eyes and he starts concentrating and when he opens them, they're like cloudy, like his cataracts. But you start, you see, like, his skin is now like the, the dew and just like the general moistness of the rainforest, we're probably all covered in sweat or, you know, dew. And you see it just starts steaming off of his arms and he's reaches out and he points at the two bird creatures and just flames erupt from his hands and two small explosions happen. Basically they're a five foot burst, so they start at a corner and they go five foot in every direction. So luckily these are large creatures. So he hits dead center on both of them. They have to be within 30ft. I believe they are. So they then need to make a. [00:28:16] Speaker C: Reflex, save 21 and a natural 20 for 37. [00:28:21] Speaker B: So one of them got a 21, which is a failure. So that one takes five d, six fire damage, the other one takes nothing because they critically succeeded. [00:28:30] Speaker C: The one that failed is the one holding Wari. [00:28:34] Speaker B: So it takes 17 points of fire damage. [00:28:36] Speaker C: And what, what spell was that? [00:28:38] Speaker A: Whirling flames. [00:28:40] Speaker C: Ah, okay. And is that like a cantrip or. [00:28:44] Speaker B: It is a focus spell. Oh, so that's an oracle focus spell. It is my third level focus spell. [00:28:50] Speaker F: Wow. Okay, that's terrifying. [00:28:52] Speaker C: And how many actions that. Two. And you have one more? [00:28:56] Speaker B: I do. So with his third action, he is going to load an alchemical cartridge into his crossbow. [00:29:02] Speaker C: Okay, Wari, you're up. [00:29:05] Speaker D: All right. I'm in this thing's grasp. I think I will laugh and then you hear a bamf and I will teleport out of its grasp. Can I do that? [00:29:18] Speaker C: What ability are you using? [00:29:20] Speaker B: That's called Bamf. She said it. [00:29:21] Speaker D: Yeah, I literally said it, John. It is called Bamf. Dimensional assault. [00:29:27] Speaker C: I believe it's called dimensional assault. [00:29:30] Speaker D: Let me double check. You tumble through space, making short dimensional hop to. Better position yourself for an attack. Teleport to any square in range that's within reach of a creature. Then make a melee strike attack against one creature within your reach. [00:29:44] Speaker A: Yep. You could teleport. [00:29:46] Speaker B: So. [00:29:46] Speaker D: So I'm glad you grabbed me because I can just yeet out of that. [00:29:51] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah, you can. Didn't know that. Don't like that. Don't like that at all. [00:29:58] Speaker D: I am a mages. It is. It is my thing. So that is my first action. [00:30:03] Speaker C: This creature looks very confused now. [00:30:05] Speaker B: Well, as part of that action, you get to attack. [00:30:08] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:30:09] Speaker D: Okay. I was actually gonna ask that if it was all within the same action. [00:30:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:30:14] Speaker B: Yes. [00:30:14] Speaker D: It is beautiful. Is it so then? I believe it is so. I will strike with my dag sloiser. [00:30:23] Speaker C: Okay. [00:30:24] Speaker D: Why I chose dog slicer. Don't worry about it. How is an 18? [00:30:29] Speaker C: I think that will miss. Yes, it does. [00:30:32] Speaker D: Boo. Do we have hero point? [00:30:34] Speaker C: You all have one hero point to start with. Yeah. [00:30:37] Speaker D: What do you guys think? Should I use it? This early on, I just feel like it's such a cool moment to have ruined it. [00:30:42] Speaker C: I would. [00:30:43] Speaker D: I rolled a five on the die. [00:30:45] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:30:45] Speaker D: All right. I missed. It's fine. I got out of its grasp and it's still my first action. It's fine. [00:30:51] Speaker B: It is a cool moment, but it's one of those things like, do you. Do you use it for the cool moment or do you save it for when you need to get out of some shit, like you just crit failed or something like that. [00:31:00] Speaker D: I rather be practical about my hero points. If I had more than one, then maybe. But since I only have the one, let's. Let's. Yeah. [00:31:10] Speaker C: Okay. [00:31:12] Speaker D: So, 1st. 1st attack, first thingy. Oh, can you guys tell I'm sweating? I'm very nervous about playing a magus, but I will do my best. [00:31:21] Speaker B: You sound moist. [00:31:23] Speaker D: I am quite moist. It's not because my wife is here. [00:31:27] Speaker F: It's because. [00:31:27] Speaker D: I mean, what? [00:31:29] Speaker C: It's jungle. [00:31:30] Speaker D: Jungle moisture. Yes. All right. All right. I want to spell strike, but I would have to cast a spell first. Correct. [00:31:42] Speaker C: And I believe spell strike is two actions. It is. [00:31:45] Speaker B: But she only used one actions to vamp. [00:31:47] Speaker D: Exactly. [00:31:48] Speaker C: Oh, that's right. [00:31:49] Speaker F: The attack was part of that. [00:31:50] Speaker B: Right. And so the way spell strike works is you pick a spell that you know, you cast it basically into your weapon, and then part of that same two actions, you attack with the weapon. If the weapon attack hits, you resolve weapon attack, and then also the spell will hit after the weapon attack is resolved. [00:32:06] Speaker D: Cool, cool, cool. [00:32:07] Speaker B: So you would have to cast a spell, but yes, you could do that. [00:32:09] Speaker D: Okay, are you ready for this? So she bumps away behind the creature. Then you see, like, things kind of crackle around her, and you see her kind of, like, move her palm on the flat of the blade, and you see the. The blade itself kind of crackle with electricity as she casts a shocking grasp into the blade. [00:32:32] Speaker F: Okay. [00:32:32] Speaker D: And then attacks the. This creature. I believe I prepared it as a third level. [00:32:39] Speaker C: Okay, so make your spell attack first, and then we'll see what happens after that. [00:32:45] Speaker F: Nope, that's a hit. So let's do dog slicer damage first. So ten points of damage plus. Plus 1818, more points of electricity damage. So the smell of chicken starts to fill the air as this other arena sees the creatures that have attacked it and will try and peck at fenal phenol. Coming at you. Rob a five on the die for a 22. It misses. [00:33:23] Speaker C: Haha. [00:33:23] Speaker F: And then it's going to peck at Nakasha, and that will hit with a 23. So you will take 16 points of damage. And can you please make a fortitude saving throw for me? [00:33:42] Speaker E: Lovely. Yeah, one moment. [00:33:44] Speaker F: It's not that high. It's not that hard. [00:33:46] Speaker E: I never really trust you when you say that. Not that hard. 2018. [00:33:53] Speaker C: That'll fail. [00:33:54] Speaker E: Yeah, somehow I figured it was a six on the die. I am gonna hear a point that. Cause I really don't wanna figure out. [00:34:00] Speaker B: Nice. [00:34:01] Speaker E: Net 20. [00:34:02] Speaker D: Whoop, whoop. [00:34:05] Speaker E: For the first time, a hearing point, actually. Something useful for me. [00:34:08] Speaker D: Nice. [00:34:09] Speaker F: You feel something enter into your body and you think you're okay. [00:34:14] Speaker E: That just never sounds right. [00:34:17] Speaker F: And then it's going to try and claw fennel again, and it will critically miss with a natural one. [00:34:26] Speaker D: Oh, boy. [00:34:27] Speaker F: This is a unarmed attack. [00:34:31] Speaker C: Tripped. Well prone. Cool. [00:34:34] Speaker F: So it was flying, and it gets all messed up with its claws and beak and everything, and it just falls prone now. [00:34:41] Speaker A: Great. [00:34:42] Speaker F: All right, this. [00:34:44] Speaker G: All right, so the one that's in front of Mari is the one that's down. [00:34:50] Speaker F: I know the one that is in front of fiddle is down. [00:34:53] Speaker D: Okay. [00:34:54] Speaker G: I feel like I have this cool thing that I can do called sudden charge. So I can stride twice and then hit. [00:35:02] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:35:02] Speaker G: So I'm gonna do that. [00:35:05] Speaker F: All right. [00:35:09] Speaker G: Are we assuming that we've taken out our longswords or broadswords or. [00:35:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:35:14] Speaker F: I'm gonna assume you're just walking through the jungle without your weapons drawn, just frolicking. [00:35:21] Speaker D: Deadly jungle wee. [00:35:23] Speaker G: No, I've got my sister and my wife and my old man and my young Mandez the forest. [00:35:34] Speaker E: It's fine. [00:35:34] Speaker G: Okay, so I've taken my long sword and I'm gonna take a swipe. [00:35:38] Speaker F: All right, swing away. [00:35:40] Speaker C: Oh, that's a natural one. [00:35:42] Speaker F: Would you like to zero point that? [00:35:43] Speaker E: Yes, please. [00:35:44] Speaker F: All right, roll again. It's a 25, which is a hit for 14 points of damage. One more action, I'll take one more slide. 23 will also it. [00:36:03] Speaker G: I'm so good at this game, guys. [00:36:05] Speaker D: Hell, yeah. [00:36:07] Speaker F: Another ten points of damage. [00:36:09] Speaker D: Get him. [00:36:10] Speaker F: All right, Kasia, it's your turn. [00:36:14] Speaker E: All right, so the one that's right near us is down. Alright, since this one right in front of me is flat footed, I'm just. [00:36:20] Speaker D: Gonna keep wailing on it, all right? [00:36:23] Speaker F: And you're using a what the plus one striking Fausher. 20 will hit. [00:36:32] Speaker E: Mar. He's gonna take 20 damage. I'm gonna do it again. And she's just, like, bellowing while she's doing this. Rage is not subtle. [00:36:42] Speaker D: Makes sense. [00:36:43] Speaker C: 26, also a hit. [00:36:45] Speaker D: Heck, yes. [00:36:46] Speaker E: Trying to poison me, bitch. Another eleven points of damage. [00:36:49] Speaker F: All right. [00:36:50] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:36:51] Speaker F: I would say that this creature is bloodied. [00:36:53] Speaker E: Okay. Okay. I'm gonna regret this one. I'm gonna try it one more time. Lovely. That was another nat one. How many nat ones have I rolled? Like, all right, I was drawing my crit fail card. She, like, totally, like, spinning the foul shirt around like a polearm type weapon, and she just, like, slices it, slams it back down, starts to hack off a wing. Goes to do it a third time, and we'll find out what she does that fails so hard. Catch your breath. You're slowed too, until the end of your next turn. Oof. [00:37:27] Speaker C: I mean, that kind of makes sense. [00:37:29] Speaker E: Like, yeah, she tries and she gets winded. She hasn't had to rage in a while. This is, you know, this doesn't usually happen, guys. I'm sorry. [00:37:40] Speaker F: Phenol. [00:37:41] Speaker H: Hey, cousin Nakasha, watch this. He's gonna spin around and lunge at the one behind him. [00:37:48] Speaker F: Okay. [00:37:49] Speaker C: A 25 will hit. Yeah. [00:37:52] Speaker F: 1717 points of damage. It's the one between warrior fists, right? That's what you're hitting. [00:38:00] Speaker C: So a 30 will critical hit. [00:38:03] Speaker H: Okay. Dollar card. Yep. Paper cut. The target takes a negative two status penalty on attack. Rolls until the end of this next. [00:38:12] Speaker F: Turn and double damage. All right, so go ahead and roll the damage. We'll see if the minus two is even a thing. [00:38:20] Speaker H: So, 34. [00:38:23] Speaker F: Would you like to describe your kill? [00:38:25] Speaker D: Heck, yeah. [00:38:26] Speaker H: So he swings around the one time and stabs at it, and then he just, like, flourishes and lops its wing off. [00:38:36] Speaker F: All right. And you have one more action. [00:38:38] Speaker H: Yeah. Might as well hit the one in front of me, maybe. Nope. [00:38:45] Speaker F: 17 will miss. Yes. [00:38:48] Speaker H: I can't win them all. I gotta keep practicing. [00:38:50] Speaker F: Right, Matt? [00:38:51] Speaker B: Yes. I am going to cast electric arc at the last murder bird. So reflex a, please. [00:39:00] Speaker F: Let's see. 36. [00:39:03] Speaker B: That is a critical success. So nothing happens. [00:39:06] Speaker A: Good turn. [00:39:07] Speaker F: All right, next is Moiri. [00:39:10] Speaker D: Beautiful. Flavor wise, I'm gonna say I'm a take your electric arc even though it's technically using the magic I just cast from my spell strike and do arcane cascade. Does that work within this round? Because the requirement is that I've used. You use your most recent action to cast a spell or make a spell strike. [00:39:33] Speaker B: Yep. So as long as the last thing you did was spell strike, which it was. [00:39:37] Speaker D: Yep. [00:39:38] Speaker B: Then yes. [00:39:39] Speaker D: So I divert a portion of the spell's magical power and keep it cycling through my body. When I take a stance, my melee strikes deal one extra damage. This damage increases to two if I have a weapon specialization and three if I have a greater weapon specialization. Specialization. So with that in mind, I don't think I can bump again quite yet, but I'm close enough. So as my second action, I will come up with to my family and then strike it regularly. [00:40:10] Speaker B: So I have a question for you. For you, Haya. [00:40:13] Speaker D: Okay. [00:40:13] Speaker B: With this type of magus, once you went into arcane cascade. [00:40:18] Speaker D: Yep. [00:40:19] Speaker B: If the target's flat footed, you get extra damage when you hit them. So you could have, instead of stepping up 10ft, you have a speed of 50. You could have just moved around to the back of it and got extra damage from it if you wanted to. It's up to you. [00:40:32] Speaker D: Let's do that instead. Since I forget how fast I am, I'm so used to being super slow on Brianna. [00:40:37] Speaker H: Yeah. [00:40:38] Speaker D: Let's do that. How's a 24? [00:40:42] Speaker C: How's a hit? [00:40:44] Speaker D: Let's do it. That is six damage. Plus one. No, plus. [00:40:49] Speaker B: Plus three electricity. [00:40:51] Speaker D: Plus three electricity. There you go. [00:40:53] Speaker F: All right. [00:40:53] Speaker D: So I created the arcane cascade. I moved and I stroke. I stroke. Wow. Hello. I struck. So that's my turn. [00:41:05] Speaker F: All right, so it is. Now this Karina's turn. The first action it's going to do is it's going to stand up and ruffle its feathers, as you know, a bird would do, looked all indignant because they fell down, and then they are going to beak at Wari. [00:41:23] Speaker D: Okay. [00:41:24] Speaker F: Ooh, 33. [00:41:26] Speaker D: That is a critical hit. Yeah. [00:41:28] Speaker F: Yes. Yes. [00:41:31] Speaker D: No, boy. [00:41:32] Speaker F: That is 30 points of damage. [00:41:35] Speaker D: Yeesh. [00:41:36] Speaker F: And give me an all important fortitude safe. [00:41:40] Speaker D: No pressure. Here we go. [00:41:43] Speaker B: Here we go. Come on. [00:41:45] Speaker D: Fuck. I'm gonna reroll that with a hero point if that is okay. [00:41:49] Speaker F: No, I want you to fail. Yes, you can reroll with a hero point. [00:41:53] Speaker D: Oh, that's much better. An 18 on the die for a total of 30. [00:41:57] Speaker F: All right, you're fine. [00:41:58] Speaker D: That's what I thought. [00:41:59] Speaker F: Well, this thing is going to beak at fennel. [00:42:03] Speaker H: Beak in action. [00:42:04] Speaker C: Oh, why? [00:42:05] Speaker H: Did I say something natural? [00:42:09] Speaker F: 20 for a 32. That's another critical hit. 36 points of damage. And I need you to make an all important fortitude save. [00:42:20] Speaker B: Fortitude save coming up. [00:42:22] Speaker F: Ha. That is a fail. [00:42:30] Speaker B: Oh, no. [00:42:31] Speaker A: A failed fortitude save. That can't be good. Well, I guess we'll have to figure. [00:42:35] Speaker B: Out what happens to him next week. [00:42:39] Speaker C: Thank you for listening to the Crack Die podcast.
