[00:00:38] Speaker A: Welcome to the 228th episode of the Crack Die podcast. [00:00:44] Speaker B: Woohoo. [00:00:45] Speaker C: Ray, we're still standing. Stronger than. Well, I don't know if we're stronger than we've ever been. [00:00:52] Speaker A: You guys are taking this encounter that I so delicately built and just smashing its face into the wall. [00:01:01] Speaker D: I'm looking at everybody's tokens. It's unharmed. Unharmed. Unharmed? Unharmed. Badly injured. His rob, so he probably like, tripped and stubbed his toe on something. But yeah, we're sitting okay. Of course, Voz is also unharmed, so not great. [00:01:16] Speaker C: That's a little more concerning. [00:01:18] Speaker A: Yeah, but you've also taken out a wendigo and Alec. [00:01:22] Speaker B: This is true. [00:01:23] Speaker D: So we've taken out the trash, and now we gotta take out Vaz. [00:01:25] Speaker B: Even more trash. [00:01:27] Speaker A: Wow. [00:01:27] Speaker C: Remind me, have we rolled any kind of checks on buzz? Have we learned anything particular about her? About the way she may have changed since we last encountered her? [00:01:34] Speaker A: You have not been dealing with the quote unquote trash before you've done any of this. So before we jump into this, continuing this combat, I just want to let our listeners know that, yes, remaster book two is out as of this recording. I will also pull the curtain back and let you know it's only been out for, like, a couple weeks during this recording. We have not transitioned to that yet. [00:01:56] Speaker C: It's not something I wanna do in the middle of a combat. [00:01:59] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:01:59] Speaker D: And also, it's been a couple weeks. I feel like my book physically arrived only a few days ago. [00:02:04] Speaker C: Yeah, so it hasn't been out very long. We plan to transition. Yes, but not just yet. [00:02:09] Speaker A: Yes, we do plan on moving to the remaster. It might not even be the next level for these characters, but the level after. So, yeah, we'll see. We'll keep you posted. Just know that if we're using outdated terms, abilities, anything like that, we are aware that things have changed. We just have not done it yet. We're slow on the uptake. So thank you and we love you and appreciate you. Please don't email us about not being correct. We know we're not correct. [00:02:36] Speaker B: We know. We definitely know. [00:02:38] Speaker D: Email us about anything you want, just not that. [00:02:41] Speaker A: Yeah, because we know if you want to know what we wear while we're recording, that's weird. Join our patreon. [00:02:46] Speaker D: That's patreon content. [00:02:47] Speaker B: Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Wink. [00:02:50] Speaker C: I got them gray sweatpants going on. [00:02:52] Speaker D: I'm wearing a top hat and only a top hat. [00:02:56] Speaker A: That's funny. Cause I'm only wearing one shoe. [00:02:59] Speaker C: And it's not where you think it is. [00:03:01] Speaker D: Hey. [00:03:01] Speaker A: Oh, doctors hate this. One trick. Listening to learn more. [00:03:08] Speaker C: He was never heard from again. [00:03:11] Speaker A: Yep. So we kind of talked about this already, but you guys are in the middle of a combat. You found the wendigo that has been causing this desert sandstorm. You've dealt with them. You've also dealt with Alec Stegrom, quote unquote, the trash from book one. Twin talent poisoned previously. Allegedly. [00:03:31] Speaker B: Allegedly. [00:03:32] Speaker A: And now you're dealing with Vaz Lorraine from book one, who made her escape, almost killed Saraya way back in book one. [00:03:39] Speaker C: Not even directly. It was with a trap. [00:03:41] Speaker A: Yeah, it was a trap. It was a tarp. [00:03:43] Speaker C: It was a beautiful moment of poetic irony. [00:03:46] Speaker A: Knife sword is huge. He has transformed into a purple worm, I believe. A giant purple worm. [00:03:54] Speaker B: That sounds familiar. [00:03:55] Speaker A: I'm sorry. A cave worm. [00:03:56] Speaker C: An alaskan bullworm. [00:03:57] Speaker A: Yes. Hero point update. Brienne has two, knife sword has two, Saraya has one, and Twintalen has one. And it is top of round six, where the cave worm gets to go first. And the cave worm is knife sword. [00:04:19] Speaker B: Woo hoo. [00:04:20] Speaker A: So, Rob, it is your turn. [00:04:23] Speaker E: Okay. [00:04:24] Speaker D: Hmm. [00:04:25] Speaker E: These people are so tiny. [00:04:27] Speaker C: Which is the combats or ants? [00:04:29] Speaker E: I'm gonna slither up and take a chomp, I guess, out of the elf lady looking thing. [00:04:36] Speaker A: Yes. So she still has two mirror images. So go ahead and make your attack roll. [00:04:44] Speaker C: Yeah, I do love that. Like, Vaz and Alec roll up and have these big speeches and knifes are. [00:04:48] Speaker D: Just like, what are these people? [00:04:51] Speaker E: All right, I got a 42 to hit. [00:04:53] Speaker A: 42 will hit. [00:04:57] Speaker C: Woohoo. [00:04:59] Speaker A: Now roll a d four. On a three or four, you will hit her on a one. You, you will miss. But that looks like a three to me. [00:05:10] Speaker C: Yep. [00:05:11] Speaker E: Got a three. [00:05:11] Speaker A: Yep. So you hit. [00:05:13] Speaker C: Doesn't sound so, you know, upset about it. [00:05:16] Speaker E: 35 damage noise. And that was one action. Second action. I'm gonna attack with my stinger. [00:05:22] Speaker C: I was wondering what the worm equivalent of cloud club bite was. [00:05:25] Speaker B: Mm hmm. [00:05:25] Speaker A: Your stinger? [00:05:26] Speaker D: Yep. [00:05:27] Speaker A: Is that a euphemism? [00:05:28] Speaker E: Yeah, you know, I am a worm, so the whole thing is pretty much a euphemism. I got a 38 to hit. That is a hit for 18 damage, which is partly poison, I think. [00:05:38] Speaker A: Yes. So it looks like it is three points of piercing. [00:05:42] Speaker D: That's all piercing. 18 is piercing, plus two d six persistent poison. Which is why it's not on there. [00:05:48] Speaker A: Oh, persistent poison. That is gross. [00:05:51] Speaker E: And I think I had to move to get there, so I think I've used all three of my turns. I don't think I can get her where I am? I'm not sure. At my size, it's hard to tell. [00:05:59] Speaker A: Okay, Christine, it is Saraya's turn. [00:06:02] Speaker C: Alrighty. How does it seem like all of those attacks went? [00:06:06] Speaker A: It looks like they were reduced. [00:06:08] Speaker C: Okay. [00:06:09] Speaker A: And the poison doesn't seem to really have anything going on. [00:06:13] Speaker C: Poison resistance is my thing, bitch. What would it be to recall knowledge on Voss? To, like, see what she's doing and see what that would be like. [00:06:21] Speaker A: Society or religion, not elven lore. Uh, no, she is not a creature of legende. [00:06:26] Speaker C: All right, fair enough. I will society. And I got a two for a 26. Jesus. [00:06:31] Speaker A: That is a critical failure. [00:06:33] Speaker B: You do have here points? [00:06:34] Speaker C: No, I have one, but I think I also have assured identification, so at least I shouldn't get. [00:06:39] Speaker A: Yeah, you don't get wrong info, so you get no info. Which is good. [00:06:43] Speaker C: Yeah, good. Okay. [00:06:45] Speaker B: Do you want to use one of mine? [00:06:47] Speaker C: I mean, if you. If you don't mind sparing it. [00:06:49] Speaker B: No. Might as well know your enemy, right? [00:06:51] Speaker C: Alrighty. Sure. So, 43. That's substantially better. [00:06:56] Speaker A: Yeah, that is a success. [00:06:58] Speaker B: He sounds so disappointed. [00:07:00] Speaker A: She is a unique medium creature with the elf. Human, humanoid, shadow, undead, and vampire traits. [00:07:08] Speaker B: Disgusting. [00:07:09] Speaker A: Okay, you may ask me two questions. [00:07:12] Speaker C: Uh, resistances and weaknesses. [00:07:15] Speaker A: So there are no weaknesses, but I will give you resistances and immunities as a single question. She is immune to death effects, disease, paralysis, poison and sleep effects. She has resistance. Acid five. Cold five. Electricity five. Fire five. Force five, physical, 15. Except for silver. Sonic five. Vitality five and void five. [00:07:38] Speaker C: Okay, the only thing that she isn't, like, resistant to is, like, holy at this point. [00:07:42] Speaker A: No, she is resistant to, not spirit. That is correct. And silver will bypass her resistance. [00:07:50] Speaker B: Wonderful. That's exactly what my scimitar is made of. [00:07:55] Speaker A: Oh, no. One more question. [00:07:57] Speaker C: Special attacks or abilities? [00:07:59] Speaker A: She has the reach spell, so for one action, she can extend the range of her spell. She also has a bonded item that she can drain to gain a spell back as a free action. And she has fast healing 30 and eschew materials. [00:08:16] Speaker C: Okay, and you said she has the vampire subtype. [00:08:18] Speaker A: Yes, she does. [00:08:19] Speaker C: So like my bottled sunlights that I loved using on the streetway. [00:08:23] Speaker A: So you used the same bottled sunlights on Alec and they didn't have the same effects? [00:08:29] Speaker C: That's right. She's a different kind of subtype, isn't she? [00:08:32] Speaker A: Potentially. [00:08:32] Speaker C: Damn. I'm about to just, like, start. We have silver in our treasury. I'm about to just, like, start chucking it at her. Hey, look, I have a sling. [00:08:47] Speaker B: I mean, I like it. [00:08:48] Speaker A: That's how rich these characters are. They're like, ugh, silver. [00:08:52] Speaker C: No, no, no. I'm not saying I wouldn't collect them afterwards. [00:08:56] Speaker B: Take this, peasant. [00:08:59] Speaker A: If they're hungry, why don't they just eat cake? [00:09:02] Speaker C: Again, not saying I wouldn't be looking for them afterwards. [00:09:06] Speaker B: Damn. [00:09:07] Speaker C: Yeah. I don't know if I have anything that's gonna bypass all her resistances. [00:09:11] Speaker A: Just do more than five damage. [00:09:12] Speaker C: Is she immune to bleed? [00:09:14] Speaker A: You did not hear that, and I do not see it on here. [00:09:17] Speaker C: Cool. So what I'm going to do is throw a greater blood bomb at her. It's full of shrapnel and anticoagulants designed to make targets bleed out. It deals one slashing, three d, six persistent bleed, and three slashing, splash. [00:09:29] Speaker B: Ouch. [00:09:30] Speaker C: Can we say that the shrapnel is silver? [00:09:33] Speaker A: No, we cannot. [00:09:34] Speaker B: No. [00:09:35] Speaker C: Why not? Alrighty. So, yeah, we're gonna use that. [00:09:39] Speaker D: That's what she uses to make them are errant copper and silver pieces. [00:09:43] Speaker C: The peasantry, or, you know, it's just. It's just in the. You know, Jasper just, like, shakes off some reagents and he's got silver in there because he loves his shinies. [00:09:52] Speaker B: No. [00:09:53] Speaker C: Oh, God damn. 33 to hit. That was, like, a seven on that. I'm gonna use my hero point on that one because that's my first attack. [00:09:59] Speaker A: Okay, that is a miss. [00:10:01] Speaker C: 37. He literally rolled, like, I went from, like, a seven to, like, a tendency. [00:10:05] Speaker A: That is also a miss, but you do not miss by five, so I will say the splash will hit. [00:10:10] Speaker C: Okay, well, it's three slashing, which gets reduced. [00:10:12] Speaker A: Oh, that's true. [00:10:13] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:14] Speaker C: So I'll try again and hope that I can actually land a hit on her. [00:10:17] Speaker B: You can do it. [00:10:18] Speaker C: Fingers crossed. No, definitely not. [00:10:21] Speaker A: That is a critical miss. Ugh. [00:10:25] Speaker C: Range. The weapon's current hit points are reduced to. It's broken. It's a bomb. Because the other one is just spell. So. [00:10:31] Speaker D: Yep. [00:10:32] Speaker A: All right, so nothing. [00:10:33] Speaker C: All right, so no punishment. Not gonna complain about that. Those are my three actions. [00:10:36] Speaker A: Okay, Matt, Matt, you're on the other side of the map. [00:10:39] Speaker D: Oh, no. Temporarily. [00:10:42] Speaker A: It is your turn. [00:10:43] Speaker D: Okay, so my speed is 30, so I will go 510. [00:10:50] Speaker C: Do you still have your banff key? [00:10:51] Speaker D: I'm trying to remember if I used that today. [00:10:54] Speaker A: You have not. I have notes written down. [00:10:57] Speaker D: Okay. [00:10:57] Speaker A: So you could banff. [00:10:58] Speaker D: Okay, so two actions. Oh, so, yeah, so for two actions, I can teleport next to her and attack her. [00:11:05] Speaker A: Get her. [00:11:06] Speaker D: So I will. [00:11:07] Speaker C: Yeah, do it. [00:11:08] Speaker A: Oh, yay. [00:11:09] Speaker C: Do it. [00:11:10] Speaker D: That is a 49 to hit. [00:11:12] Speaker C: Nice. [00:11:13] Speaker A: That is a critical hit. [00:11:15] Speaker B: Fuck yes. [00:11:15] Speaker D: I'll take it. [00:11:16] Speaker C: I will observe the bad luck if it means you keep rolling those. [00:11:19] Speaker D: Okay. Number 52, which is a paizo, one kidney piercing. The target is sickened two, so double damage. And second two, too bad indeed. She's already got the bleed right. [00:11:31] Speaker A: Oh, hang on. Hang on, Matt. [00:11:32] Speaker B: No. [00:11:33] Speaker A: Hang on, Matt. [00:11:34] Speaker D: What's up? [00:11:35] Speaker A: Roll a d four. [00:11:37] Speaker C: Would the slashing splash hit the. [00:11:39] Speaker A: Yes. Okay. I will get rid of one because of the splash. So roll a d two on a one, miss. On a two, you hit. [00:11:47] Speaker D: So there's her in one image. [00:11:49] Speaker A: Essentially, yes. Oh, you miss. [00:11:52] Speaker D: Except I don't. Yeah, you should look up the text and mirror image. [00:11:55] Speaker A: Oh, on a one, two. With only one image, the characters are one and two. One, two, or three on a d six. Okay. Yep, that's, uh. That's a hit. Never mind. She has sickened also. [00:12:06] Speaker D: Even if I had miss on a crit with mirror image, you destroy an image and you still do normal damage to. [00:12:13] Speaker A: Oh, I forgot about that. So there's no more images. [00:12:16] Speaker B: Good job, twin Talon. [00:12:17] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:12:18] Speaker C: Good job, Matt. Knowing the rules. [00:12:20] Speaker B: Yeah, that too. [00:12:22] Speaker D: All right, so precision damage, and let's give her. You've already made her three d six bleed. Correct. With your shrapnel? [00:12:31] Speaker C: I haven't actually hit her, no? [00:12:33] Speaker D: Oh, okay. Well, then I will make her bleed, Ray. [00:12:35] Speaker B: Hell yeah. [00:12:36] Speaker A: I would really prefer if you didn't. [00:12:38] Speaker C: Too bad. [00:12:38] Speaker D: Well, tough shit. [00:12:39] Speaker A: I guess I just thought I'd put it out there. [00:12:42] Speaker D: Mm hmm. Mm hmm. [00:12:43] Speaker B: Well, you know, you can want something. [00:12:45] Speaker A: But there's no harm in asking, right? [00:12:49] Speaker C: Sure. [00:12:50] Speaker D: All right, so that is 80 damage. [00:12:54] Speaker B: No big deal. [00:12:55] Speaker C: Just casual 80. [00:12:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:12:57] Speaker D: Yeah. So two of that is sonic. Six of it is electricity, because I know she's resistant to certain things. And then the rest of it. So 72 damage is piercing. [00:13:06] Speaker A: Okay. Foundry is telling me that she is immune to bleed. [00:13:09] Speaker B: Well, sounds like lying. [00:13:11] Speaker A: It's the fact that she is a shadow creature. [00:13:13] Speaker D: Oh. That makes her mean to bleed, but. [00:13:15] Speaker C: Not weak to light. [00:13:16] Speaker A: They are murky light and suppress all light sources. [00:13:19] Speaker D: Also, she needs to make a fortitude safe. [00:13:20] Speaker A: Well, so now she's sickened, so that's gonna be worse. I don't like that, man. [00:13:24] Speaker D: That sounds great. [00:13:25] Speaker C: Yeah, that sounds awful for you, but too fucking bad. [00:13:28] Speaker A: 27. [00:13:29] Speaker D: That's fine. DC 24. [00:13:30] Speaker A: Okay. [00:13:31] Speaker D: All right, I'm gonna attack her again. [00:13:32] Speaker A: All right, go ahead. [00:13:33] Speaker D: That is a 35 to hit. [00:13:35] Speaker A: That is a hit. Oh, no, that is a miss. No, that is a hit. Cause she is sickened. I'm sorry. All right, and the precise debilitation is on there now. [00:13:43] Speaker D: Okay, cool. Then I will give her a speed penalty. And let's just make her off guard to everybody. How about that? [00:13:49] Speaker C: Nice. [00:13:50] Speaker B: Very nice. [00:13:51] Speaker D: And that is 40 damage, 33 piercing, one sonic six electricity. [00:13:56] Speaker A: All right, do I make another fortitude save? [00:13:58] Speaker D: No, but that also didn't add my two d six extra piercing damage. I'm not sure why, if it was on there, but. So additional six piercing on top of the 33. [00:14:08] Speaker A: All right, that's your turn. [00:14:09] Speaker D: That's my turn. [00:14:10] Speaker A: Gross. [00:14:11] Speaker D: She still can't see me. [00:14:13] Speaker A: All right, John. Cena. [00:14:14] Speaker D: Dunna. [00:14:16] Speaker A: Hiya. It is Brianna's actions. [00:14:19] Speaker B: Okay. Brianna remembers that there's a fucking crap ton of snares around, but, uh, I. So I feel like she would take a moment to just look and see if there's any others that she needs to be wary of. [00:14:37] Speaker A: I will not make you use a hero point because you found all of them, you know, last time you found all of them. [00:14:43] Speaker B: That's right. Sorry, audience friends, just to let you know, it's been a hot minute since we recorded last, so sometimes there's a couple things that we may or may not remember. [00:14:53] Speaker A: You could say it's been a while. [00:14:56] Speaker B: That too. Okay, so as my first action, I believe Brianna is going to move twice to get to her wormy friend. And then she will use a little thumper mechanism and then ride him off into the desert. Sorry. Okay. No, she will. Battlefield medicine. Knife, sword. [00:15:22] Speaker A: Boo. Okay. Actually, you know what? I prefer you do that than attack, so that's good. [00:15:28] Speaker B: Looks like we make it at the second interval, if we're still doing that, which is two d eight plus ten. Oh, I almost want to hear a point that. Cause that's really shitty. What the fuck? [00:15:41] Speaker D: You also roll the wrong dice. [00:15:42] Speaker B: Oh, did I? Oh, shit, I did. Lol. I'm awake. I swear. I. [00:15:46] Speaker D: Instead of rolling two d eight plus ten. You rolled two d ten, which is different. [00:15:49] Speaker B: There we go. 32 points of healing back. [00:15:52] Speaker A: Nope. [00:15:53] Speaker B: What? [00:15:53] Speaker A: That was two d twenty plus ten. [00:15:56] Speaker B: It's fine. Just let it happen. It's really okay. 21 points of healing back. [00:16:04] Speaker A: Okay. [00:16:04] Speaker D: There we go. [00:16:06] Speaker B: Oppressive. [00:16:07] Speaker A: Round one. [00:16:08] Speaker B: Sometimes I like clicking on the little thingies. And my brain immediately went for 20. I'm. I'm so sorry. [00:16:14] Speaker A: Fine. It's okay. [00:16:18] Speaker B: All right. And that is Brianna's turn for now. [00:16:22] Speaker A: Okay, so top of round seven, it is Vaz's turn. First off, we're doing this. [00:16:30] Speaker B: And by this, you mean heal. [00:16:32] Speaker D: She healed for 20. [00:16:33] Speaker A: Yep. [00:16:34] Speaker D: That's gross. [00:16:35] Speaker B: That is pretty gross. [00:16:36] Speaker A: Yup. Now she starts to cast. [00:16:39] Speaker B: Uh oh. [00:16:40] Speaker A: She's gonna spend all three actions to cast. [00:16:42] Speaker B: Uh oh. [00:16:42] Speaker A: You see, appearing uh oh next to Saraya and knife sword, a gross looking. [00:16:50] Speaker D: It's like a dead camel, Joey. [00:16:53] Speaker A: Well, it's not. You see, the skeletal features of a dragon up here, and there's, like, parts of its skin are sloughing off as a large, disgusting dragon creature gets summoned. Ew. [00:17:08] Speaker C: Ew. [00:17:09] Speaker D: So it's huge. But is there any way to identify a spell as it's being cast? [00:17:13] Speaker A: I believe so. [00:17:14] Speaker C: I'm pretty sure it's a knowledge check. [00:17:16] Speaker D: Is that a thing? [00:17:17] Speaker A: I think, yeah. Identifying spells. Sometimes you need to identify a spell, especially if its effects are not obvious right away. If you notice a spell being cast and have prepared that spell or have it in your repertoire, you automatically know what the spell is, including, level of which is being heightened. If you want to identify a spell but don't have it prepared or in your repertoire, you must spend an action on your turn, attempting to identify the spell using recall knowledge. So, yes, it is on your turn, you can identify the spell. [00:17:43] Speaker D: So does anybody automatically know because it's in their repertoire? [00:17:46] Speaker A: Oh, that is a good question. Let's see. [00:17:50] Speaker C: Repertoire moi. Ha. [00:17:52] Speaker D: Nothing. Knights. Where his own has, like, a spell repertoire. [00:17:57] Speaker A: Wah patois. I do not know. He does not have this spell. [00:18:03] Speaker D: All right. [00:18:03] Speaker A: Yeah, he's a spontaneous caster. So let me look at the tags on this spell real quick. Arcane. Wait. Yeah. So knife sword would know it because he knows arcane. So this is the summon spell called Summon Dragon, and it is heightened to level seven. [00:18:21] Speaker B: So gross. [00:18:22] Speaker E: It's not gonna save her. [00:18:24] Speaker A: Wow. Wow. [00:18:26] Speaker B: Damn. [00:18:29] Speaker A: Damn, son. Well, that was all three of her actions, so it is now. Knife, swords, turn. There is a gross looking dragon in front of you as well as vaz. [00:18:40] Speaker B: Both gross. [00:18:40] Speaker D: Mm hmm. [00:18:41] Speaker E: All right, I'm gonna body rock, boz. [00:18:43] Speaker B: Hell yeah. [00:18:44] Speaker A: In the house tonight. Oh, that's party rock. [00:18:47] Speaker D: It's a little different. [00:18:48] Speaker B: Just slightly. [00:18:48] Speaker E: 41 to hit. [00:18:49] Speaker D: Oof. [00:18:50] Speaker A: That'll hit. [00:18:51] Speaker B: Good job, bud. [00:18:52] Speaker E: 34 damage. Okay, then we're gonna chomper. 33 to hit. [00:18:56] Speaker A: That is a miss. [00:18:59] Speaker E: All right. And we'll try a tail strike. And I missed. 25. [00:19:03] Speaker A: Yes. That is also a miss. Okay, it is now Saraya's turn. [00:19:08] Speaker D: What is her ac? [00:19:09] Speaker A: It has dropped. [00:19:11] Speaker D: Right, but 33 is a miss. And 25 is a miss but not a critical miss. [00:19:15] Speaker A: Right. [00:19:16] Speaker D: So I'm trying to figure out what her ac is. He might. He must have just missed her at 33. [00:19:20] Speaker A: You could say that. [00:19:21] Speaker B: So helpful. [00:19:22] Speaker D: Well, it has to be 34. Like, that's literally 34 because 33 is a miss. But 20 five's not a critical miss, which means it can't be 35, so it's literally 34. [00:19:32] Speaker B: I don't like this game. [00:19:33] Speaker A: Christine, there's a dragon in your face. [00:19:35] Speaker C: There is. [00:19:36] Speaker A: Oh, by the way, the bottom half of the dragon doesn't have a lower jaw. Tongue is just lolling out. [00:19:43] Speaker C: Ew, gross. [00:19:45] Speaker B: Good luck with chomps, buddy. [00:19:46] Speaker C: Yeah, right. He's like, I just whack you with my head, and I do a little extra slime slashing on top of the bludgeoning. Oh, boy. I have a lot of fire. And I'm going to assume this undead dragon will not like fire. [00:19:57] Speaker B: Yeah, might as well. [00:19:58] Speaker C: So I'm going to just cram an alchemist fire into its ribcage. [00:20:04] Speaker A: It's melee bite attack is called upper jaw. [00:20:09] Speaker C: That's pretty funny. [00:20:10] Speaker B: That's adorable. [00:20:12] Speaker C: Yeah. I have no ability to banish things otherwise. That's what I'd be trying. So, yeah, we're gonna. We're just gonna shove some fire at it. So 34 hit it. [00:20:20] Speaker A: 34 will hit it. [00:20:21] Speaker C: It takes 24 fire. Plus three. Persistent. Plus three splash. Which Va's is adjacent to it. [00:20:27] Speaker A: Okay. [00:20:28] Speaker C: I know she's not gonna take it. She reduces fire by five, but I don't really want to find out if it has a reaction to me leaving. I'm definitely going to hit it again with another fire, though. [00:20:36] Speaker B: Might as well. [00:20:37] Speaker C: 34. [00:20:38] Speaker A: 34 will hit. [00:20:40] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. [00:20:41] Speaker C: The game hold the same thing twice. Shreet. Sadly, it will not stack. But he takes 14 more fire and three more splash. And then I'm going to, unfortunately, attempt to retreat a bit. [00:20:50] Speaker D: Is that zombie dragon slow or undead dragon? Whatever it is, it looks like a zombie to me because he's falling apart. [00:20:56] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:20:56] Speaker A: Yes, they are slow. [00:20:58] Speaker D: I see, like, the little stopwatch up there. [00:21:00] Speaker C: Okay, interesting, interesting. It does look like it's twin Talentine. [00:21:04] Speaker B: So twin Talon turn. [00:21:06] Speaker A: It is twin Talon's turn. [00:21:08] Speaker D: All right, well, let's just focus on the spellcaster. We'll keep off guard and precision damage on the debilitations to keep those rolling. It's a 32 to hit. [00:21:18] Speaker A: That is a miss. [00:21:19] Speaker D: No, no, no. Here a point. Okay, I rolled a two, so no. [00:21:24] Speaker B: Get her. [00:21:24] Speaker D: There we go. 35, which is still a poor roll on my part, but at least it hits. [00:21:29] Speaker A: That is a hit. [00:21:30] Speaker B: Now we're cooking. [00:21:32] Speaker D: All right, so that is 50, damage, 43 piercing, six sonic, one electricity. [00:21:38] Speaker B: I love it. [00:21:39] Speaker A: Don't like that. [00:21:41] Speaker D: She continues to be off guard to everyone and I keep up my precise debilitations and then I will do enfeebled and give her a speed penalty for second attack. That's a hit. [00:21:55] Speaker B: Noice. [00:21:56] Speaker D: So that's 51 damage, 45 piercing five sonic, one electricity. [00:22:01] Speaker B: Fuck yes. [00:22:02] Speaker D: You're groaning like she's taking most of this damage. She's ignoring a lot of it. [00:22:06] Speaker A: Yeah, but she's still near death. [00:22:08] Speaker D: As well she should be. [00:22:10] Speaker A: But if she goes away, her summon goes away. [00:22:12] Speaker B: Oh no, I'm trying to think. [00:22:16] Speaker D: Does it or does it just stand there stupidly for nine rounds and then disappears? Yes, I rolled my third attack and that is also a hit. [00:22:24] Speaker B: Fuck yes. [00:22:25] Speaker C: Sweet. [00:22:26] Speaker D: So that's 53 damage, 47 piercing, five sonic, one electricity. So she's still near death. I did my best, guys. I attacked three times. [00:22:34] Speaker B: No, that's fucking amazing. [00:22:36] Speaker D: All right, that's my turn. Oh, wait till I've just been hanging out over here. Let me bring her into the fight. [00:22:40] Speaker A: I will say she just not look good. [00:22:42] Speaker B: Oh no. [00:22:44] Speaker D: I mean, she didn't look good to start with. [00:22:45] Speaker B: Too bad. So sad. [00:22:47] Speaker A: Hey. [00:22:48] Speaker D: All right. Yeah. Sonic is gonna take her one action to fly closer. That'll be her turn. [00:22:52] Speaker A: All right, so first off. Oh no, it's Brianna's turn. I'm sorry. [00:22:56] Speaker C: How very dare. [00:22:58] Speaker D: Get her. [00:22:59] Speaker B: I mean, I can't do as much damage as y'all. Hopefully once I do some retraining and remastering and whatever, that'll change. But she's patched up nice sword. As best she can, she will twirl her scimitar with her free hand and run into battle. And she will swing her shiny, shiny silver scimitar. [00:23:21] Speaker D: And even though you don't do as much damage as twin Talon, all of your damage goes through. [00:23:25] Speaker B: Yeah. That is if I do hit. [00:23:27] Speaker C: How's it? [00:23:28] Speaker D: Fuck yes. [00:23:29] Speaker B: How's it? 45 fuck yes. [00:23:34] Speaker A: That is a critical hit. [00:23:35] Speaker B: All right, should I draw my card? [00:23:38] Speaker D: Yes, draw that triple damage card. [00:23:40] Speaker C: Do it, do it, do it. [00:23:42] Speaker B: All right, lean into the blow. Triple damage. And you drop your weapon. [00:23:51] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:23:52] Speaker B: So Brianna patches up knife sword and she turns her sights to Vazena. And with all the holy light and fire of Sarenri behind her, she runs on over. And can we flavor say that? Vaaz tried to like strike at her, trying to shove her aside. Briana drops to her knees and is sliding on the sand. And she swings back her scimitar and severs an arm, since I'm severing a muscle. So let's just do regular damage and then we'll triple it. So that is 63 points of damage. [00:24:33] Speaker A: So I'm gonna go back and adjust a couple things. You don't sever the arm. [00:24:40] Speaker B: Oh, okay. What happens then? [00:24:41] Speaker A: As you slide through the sand, your scimitar slices through her midsection and you sever her in Twain as she falls down, dying, completely killed. And with her last breath, you hear her say, it's not enough. You're too late. We have most of the pieces and we will complete our mission as she dies and you kill her. Ending the combat. [00:25:11] Speaker B: Hell yeah. [00:25:12] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:25:13] Speaker D: Hooray. [00:25:13] Speaker B: Woo hoo. [00:25:15] Speaker D: We adopt this dead dragon. [00:25:17] Speaker A: I don't know if you want to adopt a zombie dragon that disappears. [00:25:21] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:25:22] Speaker A: Nice. [00:25:22] Speaker D: Smells bad. [00:25:22] Speaker B: Briana would not like that. I'm sorry. [00:25:25] Speaker A: And with that, she is dead. Dead dead to dead dead. Much like Alec is dead to dead to dead. [00:25:32] Speaker D: Dead dead dead dead dead. [00:25:34] Speaker B: Brianna will take a minute to catch her breath and then re sheath her weapon and then look around. Does anybody else need healing? I'm quite alright. [00:25:43] Speaker C: Thank you though. [00:25:44] Speaker D: I'm good. [00:25:44] Speaker B: Knife. Swords. [00:25:45] Speaker E: I'm gonna try to get back in the backpack. [00:25:47] Speaker D: As a worm. [00:25:48] Speaker E: Yeah, before I shrink. [00:25:49] Speaker B: Change back. [00:25:50] Speaker C: Change back. [00:25:52] Speaker A: Starting to slither. Worm his way over to you and he's just getting. The worm is getting smaller and smaller and smaller until it's finally knife sword again and he crawls back into your backpack. [00:26:02] Speaker B: Oh buddy. Okay, well I'm glad he decided to turn because I don't think I could be able to carry him. Holy cow. [00:26:09] Speaker E: Yep, you just hear him making like a sandwich or something inside. Cause he's starving after that. [00:26:15] Speaker B: Makes sense. Brianna will look at twin Talon pointedly since we kind of all stuck our neck out, in my opinion, there. After their fireside talk, Brianna's like absolved him. But you know, the rest of the gang don't know what happened, so she will pointedly ask, how are you feeling about all this? [00:26:33] Speaker D: Feeling okay. We took out two of our. I don't know if they're fans. What are they? People keep following us around, but yeah. Vaz. I thought Vaz and Alec were both gone. Long gone. I would like to not have to keep killing people over and over again. [00:26:48] Speaker B: I was going to ask if there was something you wish to discuss with the rest of our group. [00:26:54] Speaker D: Not right now. [00:26:55] Speaker B: Fair enough. [00:26:56] Speaker C: Sorry. Just like popcorn. Something's happening between these two. [00:27:01] Speaker D: Twin Talon will start to pat down Vos since he's standing next to her to see if there's anything interesting on her person. [00:27:06] Speaker B: Tasty. [00:27:07] Speaker A: Yeah, there's not really a body. It's just kind of like her robes and whatnot are on the ground. [00:27:12] Speaker B: Ventust. [00:27:13] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:27:13] Speaker A: Let's see. In her inventory, she currently has a very interesting looking dagger. Her robes have some runes etched in them. She has ten different potions on her as well. And you know what? For Alec as well. Everyone give me a either knowledge, arcana, any of the spell traditions. Christine, you can use alchemy to try and identify the potions. [00:27:40] Speaker B: Bag of tricks. [00:27:41] Speaker D: Jesus. [00:27:42] Speaker A: All right, that's enough. You guys are good. You identify everything, so. [00:27:45] Speaker B: Enough. Enough. [00:27:47] Speaker A: The numbers are high enough already. All right, so on vaz. There is a plus three. Greater striking blood 30 dancing dawn silver dagger. Her robes are a plus three. Greater resilient, greater fire resistant. Major slick explorer's clothing. There is one. Red dragon breath potion. Adult. [00:28:13] Speaker D: You can't have this knife part. It's for adults. [00:28:16] Speaker A: This liquid contains blood from a red dragon for 1 hour. After you imbibe the concoction, you can unleash a red dragon's breath weapon. Potency of the breath depends on the potions type and it's based on the age of the dragons whose blood was used to make it. Exhaling the dragon breathe. In a single action, you create a 15 foot cone of fire which deals 66 fire. All creatures in the area must attempt a DC 29 basic reflex. Save you can't use the breath weapon again for another one. D four rounds. There is one potion of undetectability. Drinking this dull black liquid makes you undetectable to detection effects. This grants the same as a hidden mind, but without the bonus against mental effects. You gain the effects of a fourth rank invisibility spells, which protects against seen, the unseen spells, and an 8th rank or lower spell that has a dc of 36 against truesight. It lasts for ten minutes. Two healing potion majors, three healing potion graders, and two stone body mutagen grader potions. You gain resistance, ten to physical damage, except bludgeoning. Your speeds are reduced by ten for a minimum of 5ft and you take a minus two penalty to reflex. It lasts for 1 hour. So. Yeah, that's not, um. Not bad there. [00:29:31] Speaker D: That was all vase's stuff. [00:29:33] Speaker A: That was all vase's stuff. [00:29:34] Speaker D: Can't wait for Brianna to pull all the runes off of those things and put them into weapons that we care about. [00:29:39] Speaker A: Yup. Alec has a plus four major striking, serrating, unholy, bloodthirsty wounding, adamantine, greatsword, good good Lord Jesus. [00:29:50] Speaker B: And he's still gonna defeat us. [00:29:53] Speaker A: And his armor is a plus four. Major resilient anti magic, greater dread, greater fire resistant dawn silver. Full plate. [00:30:03] Speaker D: Did you say plus four? [00:30:04] Speaker A: Yes. [00:30:05] Speaker D: There's a plus four rune? [00:30:06] Speaker A: Yes, one, I think. [00:30:09] Speaker C: I just heard Matt's brain explode. [00:30:11] Speaker A: And he has eleven doses of arsenic. Yes. [00:30:21] Speaker B: Anytime he's gone to. [00:30:23] Speaker A: I hope you enjoy the flavor of that. [00:30:26] Speaker B: Anytime he goes to a port town, he just like I'm a bar. Another one. [00:30:31] Speaker A: Well, he was coating his blade with it too. Okay, so, yeah, that's what you get. So as you all start to kind of come down from the din of the battle, the sandstorm has definitely, you know, started to wane. And remember, you were still in the. In the proper of finder plan as you were trying to head over to look for people. And as the dust storm starts to wane, you start seeing people poking their heads out of buildings and coming out. You see that the residents emerge to assess the damage of their small town. And very quickly, you notice that impromptu committees of gnomes start to form to fix up their damaged but still standing town. You start hearing discussions of repairs, and you start to see people checking on their friends and neighbors to make sure everyone is okay. Over the next few hours, final counts are done and more than 100 members of the town have died or have vanished. And you see that a couple of the merchants that you rescued from the blue market who have gone back there to check things, have noticed that several of their cargo wagons and wares have gone completely missing. You can tell that everyone is just exhausted, but very thankful that the situation, as bad as it was, it could have been ten times worse. [00:32:01] Speaker D: So Twintana will ask them, like, where do you think your. Your wagons would have gone? Like, what kind of resources would have been needed to steal entire wagons full of supplies? [00:32:12] Speaker A: We're not too sure. We know we've had some bandits and whatnot come through here, and perhaps it was that type of thing that they took advantage of the storm. Hopefully nothing is irreplaceable. And yes, we might be short on some layers for a while, but hopefully we can recoup those losses quickly and be able to get the town back up and functioning as best it can. You see that the Soukmaster comes out. Would like you all to rest as you have done us a great service here. Please rest. Take a day to recoup and whatever you need. We are going to start to clean up the town, but you are more than welcome to stay here for as long as you need recuperate. You've done us a great service and we can't thank you enough. [00:33:03] Speaker B: Thank you for your hospitality, Soukmaster. If there's anything further we can do, you only need to ask. [00:33:08] Speaker A: You may need to sweep out the guest quarters as I believe some of the windows got blown in during the dust storm and there may be some sand up there. [00:33:17] Speaker B: That is quite all right. [00:33:19] Speaker A: So she gestures to like the upstairs of Basil's basin. And as you open up the guest like rooms, the windows have been completely blown in and there's just. It looks like the beach in this room. It is full of sand. [00:33:35] Speaker B: Wonderful. Well, I suppose we should get some cleaning supplies from somewhere and get to work. [00:33:42] Speaker D: Start sweeping, I suppose. [00:33:44] Speaker C: Doesn't anybody know? [00:33:45] Speaker A: Press the digitation 2 hours to clean this whole place up and get all the sand out of the beds, but dust, like shake out all of the grit and whatnot. And you all manage to rest and you wake up the next morning and find a little basket outside the door with a note on it. [00:34:07] Speaker D: What's it say? [00:34:08] Speaker A: It says, thank you for all that you have done. Our town would not have survived this incident without you. Please take this as a gesture of our immense thanks. And inside of it you see currencies from 27 different nations, totaling a total of 57 platinum, 1376 gold, cheese, 1420 silver. [00:34:34] Speaker B: Holy cow. [00:34:35] Speaker A: And also there is a potion that is labeled in exquisite calligraphy that says eagle eyes elixir. And there's a second potion that says elixir of life. It is a major eagle eye elixir and a major elixir of life. Wow. [00:34:52] Speaker C: Damn. [00:34:52] Speaker D: What's the eagle eye elixir do? [00:34:53] Speaker A: After you drink this elixir, you notice subtle visual details. For the next hour, you gain a plus three item bonus to perception checks, or plus four when attempting to find secret doors and traps. Each time you pass within 10ft of a secret, secret door or a trap, the GM automatically rolls a secret check for you to find it. [00:35:09] Speaker B: Very cool. [00:35:10] Speaker A: You all also smell the wonderful smells the next day of food being cooked downstairs. And as you head down those stairs, you see that there is a large gathering of townsfolk, complete with the souq master sitting at tables with mountains of food there as a party for you. You guys probably haven't seen this much food since the feast in the Mwangi expanse. [00:35:33] Speaker D: So I have a question Sean. Are the people downstairs, are they mostly gnomes or are they mostly halflings? [00:35:38] Speaker A: That is a great. They're mostly halflings. No, they're mostly gnomes I'm sorry. [00:35:42] Speaker D: The reason I ask is because I'm not sure you know the difference. Because I was listening to the episodes recently, and Noly Petri sent us on this quest because a halfling town was in danger. [00:35:54] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, I really. I remember that. I caught that a little bit. This is a gnome town. Gnomes and halflings are different. Gnomes get the wander lost and the bleaching. Halflings have hairy feet and like to eat. Wow. [00:36:09] Speaker B: Racist. [00:36:11] Speaker E: Which one is knife sword? Sean? [00:36:13] Speaker A: Knife sword is a green combination of both. [00:36:17] Speaker B: Fair enough. [00:36:18] Speaker A: I mean, there are halflings, but, you know, just want to make sure you. [00:36:21] Speaker D: Knew the difference, Sean, because feels like maybe you didn't. [00:36:24] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Yep. [00:36:26] Speaker B: Good to check. Good to check. [00:36:27] Speaker A: So during the feast, you see someone come running in looking kind of worried. What do you think of this feast? Is not gonna have a problem. Rains of castameres start to flake. A small gnomish, gnomish child with green hair comes running in and says, I can't. My mom is gone. I can't find her. [00:36:55] Speaker B: Whoa. Slow down, Maurice. Sorry. Briana will swallow whatever she's eating. And, of course, approach the child. Be like, I'm so sorry. When was the last time you saw your mother? [00:37:11] Speaker A: She was taking her wagon out to. Towards. Hang on. [00:37:19] Speaker B: Sorry, this sounds suspicious. Get the kid. [00:37:24] Speaker A: She was taking her wagon to sell her wares in catapash. But. But she's nowhere to be found, and she should be back by now. No one has seen her. Her wagon's still out on the trail. [00:37:35] Speaker B: Do you know how far this trail is? [00:37:37] Speaker A: Yeah, it's a cop. It's about four days journey, but her wagon was found just outside of the city limit. It looks like it was damaged and looks like her wagon was ransacked. [00:37:47] Speaker B: Brianna will look pointedly at her companions, be like, well, we'll be happy to look for your mother, dear. Don't worry. I'm sure she's fine. [00:37:57] Speaker A: I hope so. I can show you where her wagon was found. [00:38:01] Speaker B: Is this really a child, or are we going to jump into a trap? [00:38:06] Speaker D: It's just Sean with a big lollipop and some pigtails. [00:38:09] Speaker B: Yeah, pigtails. And. Oh, my God, shirt that's too short. [00:38:13] Speaker D: And his belly stick hanging out. I'm just a widow. [00:38:16] Speaker A: Baby girl. [00:38:20] Speaker B: Renelle, is that you? [00:38:21] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:38:24] Speaker B: Of course. Lead on to my demise. Clearly this is what's going to happen. [00:38:29] Speaker A: I mean, what the Sook master overhears this and is like, I'm going to come with you. [00:38:35] Speaker C: This is definitely a trap. The Sikh master's coming with us to. [00:38:39] Speaker A: Where the wagon was, or is, and quickly look over the wagon and find that it is indeed ransacked with broken locks. As you're investigating, you look near where the wheels of this wagon were. It's about the height of a crouched gnome. You find hastily scrawled two letters, St, with a triangle. [00:39:04] Speaker D: Scarlet Triad. [00:39:05] Speaker B: Yeah, looks like they're already mobilizing. [00:39:08] Speaker D: Well, looks like they're back at it. [00:39:10] Speaker B: No rest for us, I suppose. [00:39:12] Speaker A: Who's back at it? The zuk master asks. [00:39:14] Speaker B: It seems the Scarlet Triad have struck again. [00:39:17] Speaker A: You see her face turn red and flush with anger? You know, several days ago, a couple of triad agents had dealing with bneb child's mother. [00:39:30] Speaker D: Oh. [00:39:31] Speaker A: And they engaged in, like, a verbal altercation. As soon as the storm started together, they picked up and left the agents. But they were on the road catapult, and they were leaving with great speed not to get caught in the storm or something. Hearing that the Scarlet triad is involved doesn't surprise me. They've been harassing the residents here, at least in the eight months that I've lived in finder plan, they continuously harass the residents. But if they kidnapped bineb, this would be the most egregious event that they done. You all were very capable, and being local heroes and all, I was hoping that perhaps you could come with me to catapest to help me get them punished. We could offer you an additional 2000 gold for being on retainer and helping us track down bNeb. I also have a lot of friends in the capital who can help us get our bearings and figure out what's going on. If you want that type of assistance. It is about a four day trek by wagon, and I could secure us some camels in the next day or so to get us there. Unless you have some other method of getting to catapech quicker and I could assist you in getting a place to stay and finding out what's going on and how the scarlet triad are affecting the city of Katapesh. [00:40:56] Speaker D: So you mean to come with us? [00:40:57] Speaker A: If you want me to. Just to, you know, talk to my friends there and help you out. [00:41:02] Speaker D: I mean, it certainly would be helpful to have someone with inns in the city, but I just worry about your safety if you come with us, dad. [00:41:10] Speaker B: And don't your people here need your help? [00:41:13] Speaker A: Oh, no. I can put the assistant Soq master in charge. Or who knows? Maybe it's time for a change. Plus, you know, I enjoy the travel. [00:41:20] Speaker C: I will never understand. No suit? Well, we can't stop you from coming, if that's what you'd like to do. [00:41:25] Speaker B: Of course. We will try our best to keep you safe. [00:41:30] Speaker A: Excellent. I will get the camels, and we shall leave in the next warning. [00:41:35] Speaker B: Why am I feeling sus of her all of a sudden? [00:41:39] Speaker D: I think it's just a reaction, okay? Like a knee jerk reaction. [00:41:43] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:41:44] Speaker A: Don't be suspicious. Hiya. [00:41:45] Speaker B: What? [00:41:46] Speaker C: Don't be suspicious. Don't be suspicious. Don't be suspicious. [00:41:50] Speaker D: Don't be suspicious. [00:41:51] Speaker A: All right, so I will get the camels and we will leave tomorrow morning. Do you guys want to do anything in finder plan before heading out to to catapish? [00:42:01] Speaker C: What is there to do? [00:42:03] Speaker D: Level up? [00:42:04] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah, like, right? That'd be great. [00:42:05] Speaker A: All right, well, you asked so nicely. [00:42:07] Speaker C: Yay. [00:42:08] Speaker A: Why don't you guys level up? Yay. [00:42:10] Speaker D: Really? [00:42:12] Speaker B: Guess you have to ask more often. Okay. Okay, Sean, how about we level up again, huh? [00:42:18] Speaker A: You can level up again. Only if you switch everything to the remaster. [00:42:22] Speaker C: Don't tease me. I will. [00:42:24] Speaker A: And since you guys didn't know you were leveling up today, we're gonna end the episode there so you can ride into Cadpesh next time. Woohoo. Great. Level 16. [00:42:37] Speaker B: Oh my gosh. [00:42:38] Speaker A: Yum. [00:42:38] Speaker E: Wow. [00:42:40] Speaker C: Makes me want a hot dog real bad. [00:42:43] Speaker B: Tally ho.
